b. Casa Grande-Visited the Wildlife Rescue Center to help the staff clean up the center. c. Cloverdale-They have been raising money for Relay for Life They have raised 500 dollars of the 1000 they pledged. . They have been selling candy bars for ICON attendees. They raised $2500 for the Eliminate Project, in a joint event with their Kiwanis and Builders Club. It was a pasta dinner and talent show. d. Healdsburg-They are planning for next year. They are helping the FFA at their annual fair. e. Humboldt-absent f. Lower Lake-absent g. Maria Carrillo-They sold cards and made pillow cases for the Children’s Miracle Network. h. McKinleyville- absent i. Montgomery- They sold Mother’s Day cards at their school play for Eliminate and had a booth to recruit new members at a school-wide event. j. Piner- They sold Mother’s day cards for Eliminate. They made over a hundred dollars. They are trying to sell snacks and things for graduation. They volunteered for Color Me Rad and the Cinco de Mayo festival. k. Santa Rosa- They started a fundraiser for Nepal and marched in the Rose Parade. They also volunteered for the Human Race. l. Sonoma Valley-absent m. Windsor-They participated in the Windsor parade. They sold See’s candy, popcorn and water for Eliminate. IV.
Unfinished Business a. Kiwanis One Day-Maria Carrillo and Santa Rosa volunteered at the YMCA preschool and cleaned it up. b. Eliminate Week-Montgomery made cards and sold them at a drama production They made around 200 dollars. c. Plans for a club banquet-Cloverdale has plans to have a banquet, Santa Rosa has plans to have one. They would like to give cords or medals to their seniors. d. Division t-shirt contest-Cloverdale has 2 entries, Santa Rosa has 1, Montgomery has 2, Piner has 3. Let’s keep up the momentum, and make sure we actually get all these entries. Entries are due turned in to Harlin shortly before June 20 th, which is when the votes will be cast, at the Kiwanis Governor’s Breakfast.
V.
New Business: a. Ideas for possible summer activities- (the Division Leadership Team will use these ideas to make plans) i. Going to the Redwood Empire Food Bank on a Saturday in the beginning of each month. It was decided that we preferred the second Saturday of every month. ii. Go to Macy’s in groups on August 29th and handout fliers so people can “Shop for a Cause” (12 noon -4 p.m.) iii. Special Olympics is on August 29th and in Napa; a softball tournament iv. Perhaps do a beach clean-up and/or park clean-up; we need to make plans
v. Division activities-maybe meet up together and have a craft day that we would create things for the Children’s Miracle Network vi. Have a trip together to the Kiwanis Family House in Sacramento vii. Try to plan an event for PTP so we can raise money. (Carwash or bake sale (root beer float sale) b. AAR recommended club projects for Junei. Have a Board meeting with your Kiwanis Club Board. (It is super important to do this). ii. Have a Board meeting with your club officers ( have it in a fun location and plan the summer activities) iii. Put together a club newsletter iv. Come to the June DCM and bring an advisor! v. Do a Children’s Miracle Network Project c. June DCM- 13th of June after the Redwood Empire Food Bank volunteering. VI.
