Professional Writing Panel: An afternoon of learning from the experts Sponsored by the College of Staten Island Writing Program

On Tuesday, April 19, faculty, staff, and students gathered together to hear about the many exciting ways people use writing in their lives and their professions.

Poet Genevieve Betts discusses her tips and strategies for writing, revising, and collaborating with a writing group.

She also shared with us some excerpts from her work with found poetry. Find out more about Genevieve’s work at www.genevievebetts.com.

Lee Groeger, Account Director at 3E Public Relations, discussed her experiences using digital and non-digital writing to reach diverse audiences.

Ken Lombardo, Creative Director at SGW Integrated Marketing Communications, showed us the importance of making alphabetic words and visuals work together in a single text.

Find out more information about SGW media at www.sgw.com.

Joe Tacopino, reporter for the New York Post, discussed his experiences covering various news stories in and around Staten Island.

Following the individual presentations, we had time for a Q&A session with all panelists.

The afternoon was a great success and we learned so much about the diverse ways we can use writing in our lives. Thank you to our panelists, the CSI English Department, and all who attended! Follow us on Twitter @CSIWritingPrgm and visit us at http://www.english.csi.cuny.edu/writing-program.html
