Mersha English-Newton of Roxanne Burnham Gardens “Cultural Folklore, Celebrating 44” Brief Explanation of Theme: Cultural: Represents all the Guyanese educational, artistic and enriching cultures as showcased at Mashramani celebrations, which would include all six races of Guyana portraying diversity. Folklore: Represents traditional beliefs/legends/ customs and folk characters of our peoples which influence our history. Celebrating: Speaks for itself as Guyanese come together displaying revelry and merriment at Mashramani to unite and join together regardless of race, color or creed. 44: Represents the number of years of survival, longevity and sustainability that Mashramani have been in existence; and 44 rhymes with folklore. The theme “Cultural Folklore, Celebrating 44” has a special ring to it, which could rhyme easily for speech, song and calypso creative productions.
