YEAR OF CONSECRATED LIFE Opening Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica first Sunday of Advent November 30, 2014
At November 30, 2014, Brother Lawrence Obiko, Superior General of the Brothers CMM, Attended the Opening Mass of the Year of Consecrated Life In St. Peter’s Basilica, Rome.
At the beginning of the opening Mass Mgr. Jose Rodriguez Carballo, the congregation’s secretary, read the Pope’ message in which the Pope identified three aims for the Year of Consecrated Life: • to look to the past with gratitude • to live the present with passion • to embrace the future with hope
Also the Pope outlined his expectations of the coming year that has been dedicated to consecrated life: that consecrated men and women would become witnesses of communion, of joy and the Gospel, and evermore go to the peripheries to proclaim the Good News.
Pope Francis has made a firm appeal to all men and women religious in his message:
“I am counting on you ‘to wake up the world’, since the distinctive sign of consecrated life is prophecy.”
As a Congregation we want to pay particular attention to the call of Pope Francis by being even more vigorously conscious of our unique religious vocation and mission of brotherhood and mercy. We hope that through meditation and prayer we will be able to live out our religious life with joy and give an authentic witness of our vocation.
