Mountain Mud Run

Golden Peak Here’s one for the entire family! Everyone knows that the GoPro Mountain games Mud Run is one of the most popular and entertaining fun runs on the planet. We took a year off last year to try something new, but, WE’RE BACK! This year there will be two divisions of the Mountain Mud Run: All Mountain Madness Division and the Kids Division presented by Kids Adventure Games.

Rocky Dog 5k Trail Run presented by Blue Buffalo Golden Peak/Vail Mountain Racers enjoy a 5K run or one-mile run/walk on and around Vail Mountain with their four-legged friends. Now in its third year, this event attracts dogs and people of all shapes, sizes and athletic ability. Participants are limited to one dog each and all dogs must stay on a leash for the entire trail run.

Golden Peak By far one of the most difficult events, competitors run 13.7 miles with 2,900 feet of elevation gain from Vail Village to the top of Vail Pass. If you’re tough enough and have the guts — let alone the lungs — take a stab at the Vail Pass Half and see if you can earn the bragging rights.

Vail Mountain The Vail Valley’s best trail runners, top professionals and everyone else compete at almost 9,000 feet. This course truly tests a trail runner’s fitness with constant elevation changes and mountainous terrain, and is known as one of the most challenging 10k races in the nation.

Vibram Disc Golf Vail Village/Ford Park Disc golf is played much like traditional golf, but a bit more GoPro Mountain Games style. Instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc, or Frisbee. It would not be an event at the GoPro Mountain Games without a twist. Competitors will need to survive two qualifying rounds before actually playing a round of disc golf. Qualifiers will consist of various skills competitions in the heart of Vail Village, right in the middle of GoPro Mountain Games. Players with the best skills in qualifying will step up and play a round of golf to be crowned the champions.

DOGS

50

DockDogs Outdoor Big Air Golden Peak The easiest way to imagine a DockDogs Big Air competition is to think of it as the long jump for dogs. The dog sprints down the dock runway, leaping off the end as its owner throws the dog’s favorite toy out in front. The canine with the longest measured distance wins.

DockDogs Extreme Vertical Golden Peak If Big Air is the long jump of dog competition, Extreme Vertical is the high jump. A bumper is suspended ten feet above the water and the pup sprints down the dock, jumping up at the end in an effort to grab the toy. The dog with the highest measured jump is the winner.

Golden Peak Open to all good swimmers, the Speed Retrieve is a timed event that involves the pup jumping off the dock and swimming to a duck positioned at the far end of the pool. Once the dog retrieves the duck, the clock stops and the canine with the fastest time takes the prize.

Golden Peak/Vail Mountain Racers enjoy a 5K run or one-mile run/walk on and around Vail Mountain with their four-legged friends. Now in its third year, this event attracts dogs and people of all shapes, sizes and athletic ability. Participants are limited to one dog each and all dogs must stay on a leash for the entire trail run.

GOPRO MOUNTAIN CLICK PHOTO COMP 2014 GoPro Photo Submissions and Winners Photographers have four days to shoot around the GoPro Mountain Games capturing images for submission in three categories: Performance – The sports and action images that define the event. Action. Vibe – Details, humor and the personality of the event. Mood. GoPro Moments – 100% GoPro, 100% #Rad.

Each judge ranked the top ten images in each category starting with their favorite (1) lowest to highest. If a photo did not make a photographers top ten it was assigned an 11 (Performance, Vibe, GoPro Moments). Places for each category were determined by tallying the judges scores for each photo. GoPro photos in each category were scored the same as non GoPro photos. The best overall GoPro photos in each category were the photos that scored the highest in the competition. Once again, we did have a couple GoPro photos that placed overall as well. The competitor with the lowest NET total by all judges in each category was awarded 1st place.

Want to get involved?

Share your photos from the event on-site using the hash tag #GoProMTNgames for your chance to win daily prizes. Winners will be selected and announced daily. Step it up and register for the GoPro Mountain Click Photo Comp by 5pm on Sunday for your chance to win a tear sheet in Outside Magazine, GoPro cameras and cash. Photos are due a week after the event but you will need to register before the event is over! 52
