Welcome Dear Prospective Advertiser, It is with great pleasure that I introduce the Washington Square News, the award-winning daily student newspaper of New York University – Americaʼs largest private university. Since 1973, our newspaper has served as the source of news for the NYU community. Thank you for the opportunity to introduce your business to our readership, an ethnically diverse, intelligent and curious community of 60,000 students, faculty and staff members. Our newspaper publishes 10,000 free copies each weekday, Monday through Friday, throughout the academic year, and is distributed to more than 100 locations in Manhattan. From the NYU Medical Center on 34th Street to the Water Street dorms downtown, you will find a WSN newsstand in undergraduate residence halls, administrative buildings, libraries, sports and recreation facilities. Our business office prides itself on providing attentive and courteous service and quality, with advertising options and campaigns tailored to your needs. Our Special Editions, such as our Housing Guide (2/25/2007), Freshmen Mail Home Edition (4/21/2007), Commencement Issue (5/12/2007) and Fall Dining Guide (Date to be Determined), provide additional opportunities for your business to reach students and NYU staff. In the hectic lives of NYU students and staff, our readers seek familiarity. Let us help you cut through the saturated consumer market. From food to fashion, lifestyle products to entertainment, we want to guide our readers to the best deals in town. Thank you for your time and consideration. On behalf of the advertising department of the Washington Square News, I thank you for your time and consideration. If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at (212) 995-3797. Advertising Policy 2007-2008

TERMS AND CONDITIONS: A complete listing of all terms and conditions can be found on the back of the Insertion Order. Please contact a WSN representative with any questions regarding the WSN advertising policy. WSN accepts advertising for products, events and services offered by legitimate business and organizations. WSN does not accept informational, political, or advertorial advertising. WSN maintains the right to refuse advertising at any time without reason. All payments for refused advertising will be returned. Prepayment does not guarantee that an ad will run. Page position is not sold or guaranteed but may be requested. See rate card exception. All cancellations by the advertiser must be made in writing, two business days prior to run dates. In the case of cancellation, credit will be applied to the advertiser始s account toward future runs. Cash refunds are not available. Advertising cancelled after the deadline for publication is subject to full charge.

PAYMENT: New advertisers must pay in advance for all advertising. Statements are mailed at the end of each calendar month. The monthly statement is the only bill provided. The advertiser agrees that all the bills are due and payable (net) within 30 days from the date printed on the monthly statement. Payment of the full balance is required. Tearsheets are mailed within three business days of publication and not with the monthly statements. WSN reserves the right to request full or partial payment in advance or to cancel credit privileges at any time or on any account. A late payment penalty of 1.25% per month will be charged on past-due bills.

1-900 ADVERTISING:

Due to the nature of the NYU phone system, 1-900 ads cannot be accepted. NYU phones cannot dial these numbers.

ADOPTION ADVERTISING:

Only law firms, adoption agencies, or representative agencies may advertise. Prepayment is required. All adoption advertisers must provide WSN with one of the following documentation: a letter on letterhead stating that the adoption is being handled by a state licensed adoption agency or a copy of the agency始s license of certification.

EGG DONOR ADVERTISING:

Only medical facilities/practitioners, tissue donor banks or representative agencies may advertise. Prepayment is required. All egg donor advertisers must provide WSN with one of the following for documentation: a copy of the medical license in reproductive endocrinology for the doctor performing the procedure or a copy of the tissue bank始s license or certification.

advertising policy 2007-2008
