To Whom It May Concern, It is a great pleasure for me to nominate Sidney Cumbie for College Newspapers Business and Advertising Manager’s Designer of the Year award.

I have had the honor of working with Mr. Cumbie from both the editorial and advertising sides of the Daily Titan and have seen his work evolve and accentuate the paper in the best ways possible.

As former Managing Editor of the Daily Titan Mr. Cumbie and I worked closely in the design of the Daily Titan 50th Special Anniversary Edition. His crisp and clean work is always one to bring attention to our publications.

He designed a frighteningly realistic cover for our Halloween Guide, which transformed students into zombies and made it one of the most popular special sections of the year.

As a current Account Executive for the Daily Titan I have seen Mr. Cumbie create various advertisements for businesses that display both their mission and meet their creative desires, while still expressing his aesthetic and creative points of view.

Mr. Cumbie was also the main designer of our 24-page media kit, where he let his imagination run wild and brought the fun and festive feeling of a circus to a brochure that can often be bland and boring.

Mr. Cumbie is a hard worker who is easily inspired and flexible with his creations. He brings fresh ideas to our environment and produces work that is original and immediately stands out. He is a great designer that truly deserves recognition for his hard work and dedication to the Daily Titan.

To Whom It May Concern, It is my pleasure to nominate Sidney Adam Cumbie for College Newspapers Business and Advertising Manager’s Designer of the Year.

Sidney has worked as a production assistant, also known as a graphic designer, for the Daily Titan since the fall of 2009. Sidney is the newest of the two productions assistants on staff and has really made his mark on the Daily Titan in the last semester.

Sidney is responsible for designing the media kit, as well as many eyecatching and artist advertisements for newspaper promotions and clients alike. Some of these included in the portfolio following. Sidney was also responsible for the cover design and many ad designs in the Daily Titan’s 50th Anniversary Collectors Edition that has been out the entire fall semester and will continue to be on newsstands for the remainder of the year.

Not only is Sidney a designer, but he is also a photographer. He has worked for various publications, mostly magazines, holding various positions. From these positions, Sidney has broadened his skill set and has brought those skills to the Daily Titan by incorporating his photography into his design work.

As advertising sales director and a copy editor, I have worked closely with Sidney on a daily basis and can vouch for his incredible work ethic.

Whenever there was a project for the editorial department or the advertising department, I knew Sidney was the man for the job. His tenacity and overall design and creative skills always brought awe to everyone’s face in the office as well as out of the office.
