What is Member Recognition? Member recognition holds a crucial role in the Circle K community as we hope to bring out the potential and passion in our club members, and to enhance the member and club experience. The CNH District Member Recognition Committee is responsible for the distribution of District awards, thinking of new outlets for recognition, and the Membership Recognition Program. Check out the CNHCKI District Website and you will be able to find the updated and improved District awards, manuals for awards and recognition, the Master Records Sheet, and more!

MEET THE
District Member Recognition Committee District Member Recognition Chair - David Su Hullo! My name is David Su and I am the District Member Recognition Committee Chair. I am currently a 4th year Psychology major at UC Irvine. I am in charge of everything related to member recognition in Circle K, from MR Mondays to district awards. Me and my committee are here to assist you in all ways so please don’t hesitate to reach out to us! My biggest goals for this term are adjusting awards and the member recognition program according to the COVID-19 pandemic and transitioning awards from Excel to Formstack. I aim to keep the committee open and transparent with tasks. I am excited for the term!
Executive Assistant - Luke Barrella Hey guys! My name is Luke Barrella and I am the 2020-2021 Executive Assistant for Member Recognition Committee! Outside of CKI, I currently attend Moorpark College and am a third year Civil Engineering major! For my position, I am in charge of helping the Member Recognition Chair with any executive duties, as well as compiling all meeting minutes and announcements! Personally, my interest in Member Recognition sparked when I initially served on Central Coast's Divisional Leadership Team last term. Being able to recognize others for their service, leadership, and fellowship became a passion, and I'm excited to extend that passion as a member of the District Member Recognition Committee!

Hellooo My name is Janice Lee and I am serving as the Creative Director for the Member Recognition Committee. I am a third-year Biological Sciences major at UC Irvine. As the Creative Director, I am responsible for all the graphic aspects within the committee, including the member recognition manual you are reading now! Member Recognition plays a crucial role in CKI and I am really excited to be part of this amazing committee. It’s wonderful to recognize all the inspiring individuals who dedicated their time to CKI work and they deserve the appreciation from all clubs throughout the CNH District. Seeing CKI members cheering and supporting each other is my biggest motivations :)
Master Records Sheet Coordinator - Andrew Yu Hi hello! My name is Andrew Yu and I serve as the Master Records Sheet (MRS) Coordinator on the District Member Recognition Committee. I am currently a Business Economics major at UC Irvine. This term, I hope to be a resource to all of you members, especially to those filling out the MRS. I believe that the MRS is a valuable asset to those keeping track of member's individual hours and recognition. Celebrate being acknowledged and recognized for your achievements! It is nice now and then to be recognized for your efforts, no matter how small it may seem. Reach out to me with anything regards to member recognition or the MRS.
Northern Recognition Specialist - Vanessa Lee Hullo everyone! My name is Vanessa Lee and I am your Northern Recognition Specialist for this term! I’m currently a 3rd year majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics at Sacramento State. As the Northern Representative, I proudly represent the Capital, Golden Gate, and Sunset divisions. My duties comprise of being a liaison between you all and your respective LTGs to keep y’all updated on evertyhing related to member recognition. I just wanna ask WHO doesn’t LOVE RECOGNITION?? Because I love seeing the smiles on people’s faces when we recognize hard-working individuals. I hope to assist all you guys along the way to establish Member Recognition within your home clubs and be a resource to y’all to grow one’s club. Let’s make this year a memorable one! c:
Central Recognition Specialist - Jessica Lam Hello Hello!! My name is Jessica Lam and I am currently a 4th year architecture major at Cal Poly Pomona. A fun fact about me is that I like to go on road trips to national parks! I am serving as this term's Central Region Specialist for Central Coast, Desert Oasis, and my home division, Foothill! I am here to assist all the Member Recognition chairs/Secretaries in the Central region. This term, my goal is to make sure the chairs have the correct resources they need to succeed! To me, member recognition means giving a huge shoutout to all of those who have worked hard to make a difference in CKI. I know sometimes it can feel like you work so hard and no one sees the work you put in, but we do and so do your members!
Southern Recognition Specialist - Guy Suankaew O hello everyone! My name is Guy Suankaew and I am the Southern Recognition Specialist of the Member Recognition Committee for the 2020-21' term. I'm currently in my 3rd year at Cal State Long Beach as a Biology major. Something you may not know about me is I own a vast collection of kpop albums and posters which may have taken over my room during this time in quarantine. This year, I decided to join the committee to provide and explore the definition of recognition more on the district level. I've been taking this time to talk and support my fellow recognition chairs throughout the SoCal region by sharing my experiences and asking about their own. If you ever want to talk about any of the topics I mentioned, feel free to contact me and we can be good pals!

Membership Recog What is the Membership Recognition Program (MRP) ? The Membership Recognition Program (MRP) is the largest way we recognize members from all over the California-Nevada-Hawai’i district. It recognizes members who have shown dedication in our three tenets: service, leadership, and fellowship. Members are recognized at the district level during Fall Training Conference and District Convention. In order to achieve an MRP ranking, you need to be dues-paid, reach a specific number of service hours, and complete a specific number of tags.
Tips & Promotions: - Set goals for what you aim to accomplish by the end of the term - Have MRP buddies and encourage each other to fulfill the requirements - Go to service projects and other club events - Host a club-level member recognition program workshop to educate members and provide guides for them to get more involved - Talk about it during general meetings or include it as a fun fact as a way to help members to learn about MRP and its requirements - Provide regular updates after meetings or reach out to members for encouragement - Celebrate and recognize members who achieve certain benchmarks throughout the year - Keep up with deadlines for the Master Records Sheet - Input events as you go to prevent from doing too much all at once - Reach out to the Master Records Sheet Coordinator, Andrew Yu, if you have more questions or concerns

Why should you apply for Awards? ACKNOWLEDGEMENT - Acknowledge the hard work you and your club have achieved over the term - Gives us an opportunity to appreciate, recognize, and spotlight individuals for their outstanding work on a district level DISTRICT UNITY - Celebrate the end of the term with cheer and congratulating other individuals and club for their achievements as a whole - Provide the district with a sense of pride and unity REFLECT - A great way to reflect on the progress of your club - Inspire club members to do the best they can in Circle K - Serve as a reflection of everything the club embodies and accomplishes for the term LEGACY - Winning awards is a reminder to your club and its members of the accomplishments, values, and pride it carries in Circle K - Whether it be the club with the most service hours or being the club with the most outstanding media in the district, the achievements of your club inspire members to carry on this legacy for years to come

FTC Awards Tips Outstanding Club T-Shirt Award This award is presented to the top 3 clubs who made a creative and innovative club t-shirt that promotes Circle K International. TIPS - Remember to take copyright into account, as there will be a 10 point deduction if images resemble a copyrighted design.
Outstanding Club Video Award This award is presented to the top 3 clubs that create a high quality, creative, and original video that promotes Circle K International. TIPS - The video should serve as a promotional tool for Circle K International, promoting the organization and Circle K Club within its respective school/ community. - The maximum length of the video is 3 minutes. - Remember to take copyright into account, as there will be a 10 point deduction if images resemble a copyrighted design.
Outstanding Club Website Award This award is presented to the top 3 clubs that regularly produce a high quality of website that features pictures, upcoming events, updates, and educational/ informational resources. The website should serve as an effective communication tool for the club and its members. TIPS - Maintain and update your club’s website throughout the term. Recipients will be announced at District Convention. - Incorporate your club’s theme into the website if applicable. - Incorporate Circle K International graphic standards. - Remember to take copyright into account, as there will be a 10 point deduction if images resemble a copyrighted design.

DCON Awards Tips General Reminders & Tips - The Outstanding Traditional Scrapbook Award and the Outstanding Non-Traditional Scrapbook Awards are removed for the 2020-2021 term - Start Early! - All DCON Awards are due on Formstack by March 1, 2021 at 11:59PM. - There will be no extension of submission given for any reason. We encourage submission at an earlier date to prevent emergencies or any technicalities from meeting the submission deadline. - Keep track of the word limits for the responses to different questions in the awards. - Use the Google Sheet templates provided by the Member Recognition committee to list out events. - All file uploads must be in PDF. - Have a friend or a board member to proofread the completed applications before submitting.
Distinguished Appointed Board Officer Award This award is presented to an Appointed Board officer who demonstrates excellent achievement in their role. The award illustrates the distinguished Appointed Board officer’s dedication, participation, and contribution to Circle K. TIPS - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Make sure you have a letter of recommendation by a home club officer ready prior submission. The letter of recommendation should be written by an individual who can best vouch your contributions to the club as an appointed board member.
Distinguished Club Improvement Award This award is presented to the Circle K clubs in Cal-Nev-Ha that have demonstrated growth, development, and improvement from the previous year. TIPS - Newly chartered clubs are not eligible to apply for this award. - The Monthly Report Form will be healpful when filling out this award application. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Please list all new events chronologically and provide a brief description of each event.

Distinguished Divisional Excellence Award This award is presented to all Circle K divisions that show excellence in unifying members and clubs within the division. This award demonstrates the division’s commitment to creating divisional unity and promotion of district activities at the divisional level. TIPS - Keep track of how you promoted education at District Council Meetings (DCMs). - Be sure to save all the meeting agendas and any documents you have made as LTGs. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack.
Distinguished Kiwanis Club Award This award is presented to Kiwanis clubs who have strong ties with their Circle K club(s). These Kiwanis clubs exemplify the spirit of fellowship within the Kiwanis Family. A Kiwanis club may be nominated by a Circle K club or by an individual Circle K member. The nominating club and/or individual will fill out the award application in collaboration with the nominated Kiwanis club. TIPS - For events to be considered Kiwanis Family events, at least TWO Kiwanis club members as well as TWO members from another Kiwanis Family club must be present. - Each Circle K club is limited to nominating one Kiwanis club. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack.
Distinguished President Award This award is presented to each Circle K Club President who demonstrates excellent achievement in their role. The award illustrates the Distinguished President’s dedication, participation, and contribution to Circle K. TIPS - Have the Monthly Report Form ready when filling out the award application. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Remember to ask your LTG for a letter of recommendation.

Distinguished Vice President Award This award is presented to each Circle K Club Vice President who demonstrates excellent achievement in their role. The award illustrates the Distinguished Vice President’s dedication, participation, and contribution to Circle K. TIPS - Make sure to choose what position you are applying for: General Vice President, Administrative Vice President, or Service Vice President. - Have the Monthly Report Form ready when filling out the award application. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack.
Distinguished Secretary Award This award is presented to each Circle K International Club Secretary who demonstrates excellent achievement in their role. The award illustrates the Distinguished Secretary’s dedication, participation, and contributions to Circle K International. TIPS - Have the Monthly Report Form ready when filling out the award application. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Include PDF attachments of sets of agendas from different quarters or semesters.
Distinguished Treasurer Award This award is presented to each Circle K Club treasurer who demonstrates excellent achievement in their role. The award illustrates the Distinguished Treasurer’s dedication, participation, and contributions to Circle K. TIPS - Have the Monthly Report Form ready when filling out the award application. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Keep reciepts, budget sheets, account statements, and/or any other materials that help reflect on the club’s financial status.

Don Hull Distinguished Kiwanis Family Relations Award This award is presented to Circle K clubs that have shown excellence in their Kiwanis Family relations. This award demonstrates the club’s involvement in maintaining a strong relationship with the diverse branches of the Kiwanis family such as Kiwanis, Cali-Nev-Ha and KIWIN’s District of Key Club, etc. TIPS - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - There are several short response prompts about specific Kiwanis Family events and programs such as Kiwanis One Day, Kiwanis Family Month, and Key to College. Be sure to participate in these events! - Refer to the CERFs and events recorded in the MRF and MRS that have the Kiwanis Family (KFAM) tag.
Rich Thigpen Faculty Advisor of the Year This award is presented to the faculty advisor who has been a valuable resource and liaison for a club and Circle K in general. They are someone who exemplifies the spirit of fellowship in both words and actions. A faculty advisor may be nominated by a Circle K club or by an individual Circle K member. TIPS - A Faculty Advisor may be nominated by a Circle K club or an individual Circle K member. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - One letter of recommendation must be submitted with the application. - Up to three supplemental materials may be submitted with the application.
Hall of Fame Award This award is presented to a Circle K member of the California-Nevada-Hawaii District who, through their contributions and achievements, has demonstrated outstanding dedication to the principle and ideals of Circle K International. TIPS - Maximum of 1 nominee per club. - This award requires three letter of recommendations, so please be sure to find a Kiwanian, a co-worker or school faculty member, and a fellow Circle K member who understands the nominee’s contributions to Circle K International.

John Nichelson Kiwanian of the Year Award This award is presented to the Kiwanian who best exemplifies the spirit of fellowship within the Kiwanis Family. To a Kiwanian, this is Cal-Nev-Ha Circle K’s highest honor. A Kiwanian may be nominated by a Circle K club or by an individual Circle K member. TIPS - In order for a Circle K club or individual to nominate a Kiwanian, the Don Hull Distinguished Kiwanis Family Relations Award must be submitted by the home Circle K club. - Up to three supplemental materials may be submitted with the application. - The previous recipient(s) is not eligible to win for two consecutive years.
John Woodall Distinguished Membership Development and Education Award This award is presented to any Circle K club in the District in recognition of its performance in the areas of membership, recruitment, retention, development, and education. TIPS - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Applicants may respond to prompts in the first person point of view. - Attach up to 10 supplemental MD&E samples. NOT including the copies requested in sections I, IV, V, and VI.
Mei Po Wong Overall Service Award This award is named after Mei Po Wong, a Circle K member from Mt. San Antonio College, who was killed in an accident caused by a drunk driver. Mei Po served as president of her club and was serving as the Lieutenant Governor of the Foothill Division at the time of her death. This award is given to honor her extraordinary commitment to service and the Kiwanis Family. TIPS - Have the MRS ready when filling out the award application. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - An event may be only listed once in the entire application. Clubs that list the same event in multiple sections may be disqualified. If an event qualifies for more than one section, please list the event in one section that you feel is the most suitable.

New Member of the Year Award This award is presented to one new member of Circle K International in the California-Nevada-Hawaii District who, through their contributions and achievements, has demonstrated outstanding dedication to the principles and ideals of Circle K. TIPS - Maximum of 2 nominees per club. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - This is an extensive application, so be sure to start early and review it thoroughly to ensure all details are correct.
Outstanding Club Media Award This award is presented to the top three Circle K clubs that regularly produces high quality media content, serving as an effective communication tool for the club and its members. TIPS - A minimum of 2 newsletters, 2 club promotional videos, and 20 graphics must be created in the term. Failure to do so may result in disqualification. - Remember to take copyright into account, as there will be a 10 point deduction if images resemble a copyrighted design. However, images that draw from a copyrighted image in an original way will be accepted. - All graphics and newsletters are expected to follow the international and district graphic standards. Outstanding District Committee Member Award This award is presented to a District Committee member who demonstrates excellent achievement in their role. The award illustrates the outstanding District Committee members’s dedication, participation, and contribution to Circle K. TIPS - Any dues-paid member may nominate a member serving on a District Committee for the Outstanding District Committee Member Award. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Make sure you have two letter of recommendations by a home club officer or a fellow committee member and the District Chair ready prior submission.

Outstanding Divisional Leadership Team Member Award This award is presented to a Divisional Leadership Team member who demonstrates excellent achievement in their role. The award illustrates the outstanding Divisional Leadership Team Member’s dedication, participation, and contribution to Circle K. TIPS - This is a new award! - Any dues-paid member may nominate a member serving on a DLT for this award. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Make sure you have two letter of recommendations by a home club officer or a fellow DLT member and the Lieutenant Governor ready prior submission.
Outstanding Interclubbing Award This award is presented to the top three Circle K clubs that have shown unity and fellowship through the implementation and participation of events with other Circle K clubs and Kiwanis Family clubs. TIPS - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Judging will be based on type of project, Kiwanis Family attendance, and miles traveled. More weight will be given to service projects and interaction with clubs without as many opportunities to interact with other clubs due to distance or size.
Outstanding Single Service Project Award This award is presented to the top three clubs that, through dedication and selfless efforts, have produced the best overall club service project completed between March 1, 2020 and February 28, 2021. TIPS - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Events that are strictly Single Service events, as defined in the District Operating Procedures, are the only events eligible for this award. - The project submitted for the Outstanding Single Service Project Award is limited to a one-week time period and a focus on a single organization. If your club conducted more than one Single Service project, please choose only one.

Outstanding Total Achievement Award These awards are presented to Circle K clubs that have excelled in all aspects of club operation. This is a combined application for the Outstanding Total Achievement Award and the Camille Goulet Distinguished Club Award. Keep in mind that these are two distinct awards. TIPS - There are TWO mandatory supplements to this application: The John Woodall Membership Development and Education and the Don Hull Distinguished Kiwanis Family Relations applications must be submitted alongside this application. - Have the MRS ready when filling out the award application. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack.
Returning General Member of the Year Award This award is presented to one returning general member of Circle K International in the California-Nevada-Hawaii District who, through their contributions and achievements, has demonstrated outstanding dedication to the principles and ideals of Circle K. TIPS - Maximum of 1 nominee per club. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - This is an extensive application, so be sure to start early and review it thoroughly to ensure all details are correct.
Growth Enhancement Membership (GEM) Award This award is presented to all Circle K clubs that have shown positive growth in membership over the past year in 3 categories for club size. This program was institutionalized to recognize clubs that have achieved success in membership growth as compared to the previous years statistics. TIPS - There is no application for the award. - The club size categories follow Circle K International tier names, which are Ruby, Sapphire, and Diamond.
