MRP CAL-NEV-HA CIRCLE K INTERNATIONAL

2016-2017

WHAT IS THE MEMBERSHIP RECOGNITION PROGRAM (MRP) ? WHAT IS IT? Every year, the CNH District of Circle K recognizes those who’ve exemplified themselves in the three tenets – service, leadership, and fellowship – through the Membership Recognition Program (MRP). The Membership Recognition Program promotes involvement at the various levels and aspects of Circle K. The division names for club size follow the gem system:

Ruby: 1-50 Members Sapphire: 51-90 Members Emerald: 91+ Members

Like each gem, each club has unique qualities. However, the gems signify that each club is precious and that each member has the ability to shine like one of these gems! Regardless of the circumstances, the Membership Recognition Program encourages members to maximize their achievements in Circle K. Every year the MRP changes slightly. However, we have noted major changes in the manual. Below you will find the MRP Requirements for the 2016-2017 term. In order to accomplish your desired Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum, please select only the criteria under the level you choose and how many members are in your school.

What kind of impact do you think recognition has on our district? Recognition allows us to spotlight the different, unique and incredible members in Circle K, allowing us to encourage members to be better versions of themselves and to really be proud of our membership. What tips would you give to those filling out awards? Before awards are released, keep a track of EVERYTHING. Events attended, workshops, webinars, out-of-division events, you name it. Then once awards are released, spend time to add all the information and update the awards as you go. What tips would you give to those who hope to achieve Membership Recognition Program (MRP) Standing? Find friends to go with you to service projects or buddy up to host a workshop or a webinar! They often don’t require much previous experience, and we’re always looking for new members to teach us something awesome! What are your favorite ways to recognize others? Does your club do anything special to recognize its members? Member of the month is the best way to show recognition to members in our club/ division. What does member recognition mean to you? I truly value recognition because there are so so sooo many absolutely amazing CKI’ers who selflessly use their own valuable free time to serve the communities they live in. The very least we can do is recognize them :) Please share your favorite district awards memory. My favorite district award memory happened this last year at DCON. It was the second day and I had just been voted into office as the LTG of the Sunset Division. I hadn’t filled out a distinguished award application because I didn’t have time but the president of my club had done it for me without letting me know. So during the awards dinner I received the award for Distinguished Vice President and I was extremely excited. It was really nice to get recognition without knowing that there was even a possibility of it coming. The Membership Recognition Program was created to recognize members for their hard work throughout the Circle K year and it’s exciting to see how many hours you can rank up in just one year. As a MRP recipient for two years now, I realize that it is not about who can achieve the highest level. It is about the time commitment you’ve made to serve your community, the smiles you’ve put on people’s faces, the money you help raised through fundraisers, the amount of people you’ve met at events and so much more! The MRP program just goes to show all the endless possibilities Circle K has to offer!

When I reached the tier that I was aiming for, I felt that I accomplished something great- not only for my home club but for the well being of the community around me. It put some perspective into the amount of work that I dedicated my free time to. I think that setting and reaching a certain tier helps you visualize the amount of work that you have done and allows you to appreciate your community and CKI just a little bit more.
