GENERAL INFORMATION: A-Z by voice directions through speakers, you must evacuate the building by the nearest emergency exit and go to the conference assembly point. Do not stop to collect equipment or personal belongings, and after leaving the building remain at the assembly point and do not return to the building until you have been told it is safe to do so.
Please note that the Shangri-La complex consists of three hotels: Al Husn, Al Bandar and Al Waha. The Welcome Reception takes place in Al Husn. The Conference and the Condé Nast International and Place Vendôme Qatar Party take place in Al Bandar.
The assembly point for the conference is situated in the lower car park of Al Bandar Hotel.
Badges Security will be very tightly controlled over the two days. Please wear your badge at all times during the conference to ensure easy identification and as a courtesy to other participants. You will be able to collect your badge during the Welcome Reception in the Courtyard of Al Husn Hotel on Tuesday evening (18.30-20.30) or at the Conference Registration Desk on the ground floor of the Al Bandar Hotel on presentation of your photo ID (passport, driving licence, company pass, etc) and a business card.
The assembly point for the welcome reception is situated in the lower car park of Al Husn Hotel. If you are in an emergency or should you require any assistance immediately, please contact any member of the Shangri-La hotel staff or the Condé Nast International staff at the registration desk who will arrange the necessary help.
Emergency Procedures (Party) Turtle Beach is equipped with an alarm system. Upon hearing the siren and a verbal request to leave the beach, you must evacuate the area by proceeding towards the assembly point in the car park of Al Bandar Hotel. Do not stop to collect equipment or personal belongings, and do not return to the area until you have been told it is safe to do so. If you are in emergency or should you require any assistance immediately contact any member of staff at the party who will arrange the necessary help.
Cloakroom (Conference) In the interest of security, health and safety we ask delegates with large bags not resident in the Shangri-La to leave them with reception at Al Bandar Hotel. The conference hall will be cleared at the end of each day so please do not leave any items overnight.
Closing Party The Mind Release Closing Party on Thursday 6 April at 20.00 is organised and hosted by Muscat Bay. The Muscat Bay Experience Centre & Beach is about five to eight minutes away from The Shangri-La complex. Muscat Bay will be organising transport (see details on page 1).
Evaluation Form The success of the conference depends on your feedback. We would be grateful if you could give us your comments on all aspects of the event by completing the evaluation form that will be handed out during the conference and available from the registration desk. Please hand it to a member of staff when you have completed it or leave it on your chair for it to be collected. Alternatively, you may post it to Condé Nast International (details will be on the form) or email it to CNILuxury@condenastint.com. For every form received back, Condé Nast International will donate USD $10 to the charity Wildlife ACT, which protects endangered wildlife (including turtles).
Conference Session Videos Instructions on how to access these will be emailed to all attendees after the conference.
Dietary Requirements If you have any special dietary requirements, but have not yet informed us when registering please email cniluxury@ condenastint.com or visit the registration desk and advise a member of the organising staff before or during the morning coffee break on Wednesday 5 April. Vegetarian options will be available throughout the conference and social events.

Filming and Photography Please note that the conference and associated social events will be filmed and photographed, and that by attending, you may be included in footage or images which may be used for future Condé Nast International promotions.
Please make sure you are familiar with the exits and alternative exits (marked by the green ‘exit’ signs). The Shangri-La complex is equipped with a two-stage alarm system – on hearing the first alarm, stand by and wait whilst the incident is investigated. If you hear a second alarm, accompanied

Smoking
There is a 24-hour clinic at Al Bandar with a nurse on duty for basic medical care. A doctor is on duty from 09.00 to 21.00.
Welcome Reception: Those wishing to smoke should go to the smoking area outside the front of the hotel.
If you are in emergency or should you require any assistance immediately contact any member of The Shangri-La staff or the Condé Nast International staff who will arrange the necessary help.
Conference: Those wishing to smoke should use the lawn area past the Genesis car. Party: Those wishing to smoke should use the area past the bar.

Taxis
Lunch and Refreshments
Taxis in Muscat are not always easy to find. If you plan to leave the hotel, we suggest you ask the hotel concierge to request that the taxi driver who takes you out of the ShangriLa complex waits for you at your destination, and then drives you back to the Shangri-La (unless your destination is another hotel, in which case you should find it easy to secure a taxi for your return journey). It can be a worthwhile investment to pay the driver to wait.
Morning and afternoon refreshments, together with a buffetstyle lunch will be served on both days of the conference (vegetarian options are available), in the Foyer area outside the Ballroom and on the Ballroom Terrace in Al Bandar Hotel. Limited seating will be available in the Genesis Lounge
Mobile Telephones Please keep your mobile phone switched to silent during the conference so you do not distract the speakers or other participants. Kindly take any calls outside the conference hall.
A taxi from Muscat Airport to The Shangri-La should be approximately OMR15. Please check the fare with the driver before commencing your journey.

Purchasing Omani products at the Condé Nast International and Place Vendôme Qatar Party
Conference: The main WCs can be found on the same level as the Ballroom in Al Bandar Hotel. There are also WCs on the lobby level (Floor 2).
Pop-up stores will be located at the Condé Nast International and Place Vendôme Qatar Party on Wednesday 5 April. One store will be operated by the Omani Heritage Gallery (@omani_heritage_gallery), a not-for-profit organisation committed to the development of traditional Omani craftwork in textiles, silver, copper, fragrances and leather. A second store will be operated by the Sidab Women’s Group (@sidab_women), a social enterprise which brings together women from the Sidab fishing village to produce handmade textiles and bags (including the Condé Nast International Luxury Conference delegate bag). You may wish to carry some cash or credit cards on the night, in order to be able to purchase items.
Party: WCs are located on Turtle Beach near the Souk area.
WiFi and VPNs There is a WiFi network available for guests staying in the Shangri-La complex. An additional dedicated WiFi network for the conference is being provided by Omantel. For this additional network, please select network “CNI Luxury” and enter your mobile number. You will be sent a code by text, which you should enter to receive complimentary WiFi access. Please be aware that certain internet services such as VoIP (e.g. Skype, Facetime, and WhatsApp calls) are blocked in Oman. You may wish to contact your company’s IT department to discuss your options and VPNs before you arrive in Oman.
Restaurants in the Shangri-La Due to extremely high occupancy levels in the Shangri-La complex, the hotel recommends that guests book tables in advance if they plan to dine at any of the restaurants, in order to avoid disappointment and to secure tables at your desired time.
Yoga A yoga instructor, Mrs. Shobha Naik, will be holding yoga and meditation classes for conference attendees at 07.00 on Tuesday 4, 06.30 on Wednesday 5 and 06.30 on Thursday 6 April. Places are limited.
Conference attendees staying in the Shangri-La complex may benefit from a 20% discount off food (not beverages) in any of the restaurants within the Shangri-La. You must inform the restaurant staff that you are a Condé Nast conference attendee to ensure the discount is applied at the point of sale.
If you would like to take part, please inform CNILuxury@ condenastint.com by Sunday 2 April. Classes will take place on the lawn immediately next to the beach in the Al Bandar Hotel. Towels, mats and water will be provided.
Conference attendees may also benefit from a 15% discount on all Chi Spa services. When booking any treatments, please mention you are a Condé Nast conference attendee, in order to secure this. When reporting to the Chi Spa reception for your appointment, please remind staff to help ensure your discount is applied at the point of sale.

Visas
Please note that flights from Muscat Airport to certain destinations, such as London, are subject to secondary security screening at the gate. You may wish to consider this when planning your departure time from the hotel to the Airport, and also when purchasing items in the Airport.
It is your responsibility to check the entry requirements for your passport. Please see the travel page of the conference website (www.cniluxury.com) for additional information. Weather Muscat is sunny and warm/hot. Average day-night temperature ranges in Muscat for early April are 34˚C-24˚C (93˚F-75˚F). You may wish to bring sunscreen.
Electricity 220-240 Volts, “Type G” British-style sockets. Tipping It is customary to add 10-15% to restaurant bills, if you feel the service has been particularly good. Food and beverage outlets within the Shangri-La complex automatically add a service charge to all bills.

The Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa operates a turtle conservation programme. Two species of turtle regularly nest on the hotel’s beaches – the endangered Green Turtle and the critically endangered Hawksbill Turtle.
