EDITOR’S NOTE With summer winding down, we hope everyone took some time to enjoy with family and friends. This is the time of year when we notice the reduction of tourist traffic and welcome the fact that the RVs are being parked for another season. With that in mind, there is only one long weekend left to close out the summer. Be prepared and remember you are the professionals. Consider road safety above all else! From now until year end, the push is on to add some black ink to the bottom line of the business’ yearly profit picture. This magnifies the need to maximize the utilization of equipment and operators. No one wants to refuse revenue for any reason. When this push happens, and we know it will, don’t take chances. We would like to remind everyone that no matter what the pressure, you’re still the captain of your ship. You have control of your situation. Plan your trips so you can complete your work safely, comfortably, on time, and legally. In the 25 plus years I have been connected to this industry, safe, timely delivery has always been the priority and the responsibility of the operator.
Don’t become a statistic!!!!
Now on to the lighter side. There are many events coming up. The transportation industry supports many fund raisers from convoys to torch runs. Get involved. Support your local trucking associations and help promote our industry to the next generation.

Southern Alberta Truck Exposition Lethbridge, Alberta The 2019 edition of the Southern Alberta Truck Exposition is now in the history books. The show was again well visited with 27 exhibitors and 2500 guests in attendance.
E
xhibitors were well represented by recruiters and various company representatives showcasing their products and services. The Show and Shine was well represented in all categories, with awards being led by the People’s Choice and Mayor’s Trophies. Gord Cooper and the Smoking Gun was in attendance and one lucky person got the ride of their life when
they won a ride in the parking lot. Needless to say, that got the attention of the crowd. Once again, we must recognize the hard work and dedication of Kani and Lane Jacobson. Their dedication to the promotion of our industry is unsurpassed. This year’s admission was again by donation to the Lethbridge Food Bank.
