Introduction to Desi Road Kings Magazine JGK Media is pleased to introduce and announce the launch of Road Kings Magazine, the only bilingual automobile and motorcycle publication for the GVRD. Written in both English and Punjabi, this monthly magazine targets the South-Asian community, which largely populates BC’s Lower Mainland. According to Census BC, Punjabi is the second most spoken language in the Lower Mainland, after English, thus justifying the need for a bilingual magazine. JGK Media has a proud history of catering to this target audience. Having successfully published Desi Trucking Magazine for over 8 years and organized 3 successful APNA Truck Shows, rest assured that you are marketing with a professional and experienced organization. Why Desi Road Kings Magazine: After a home, the next largest purchase for an individual or family is the automobile. Thus, the automotive and motorcycle industries are two of the biggest industries in Canada. There are some magazines which serve this industry; however, aside from Road Kings Magazine, there is no such publication that takes automotive and motorcycle information to the doorsteps of the South Asian community, in both English and Punjabi. The SouthAsian community is very well established in Canada, especially in the Lower Mainland of BC. From driving and riding the most basic forms, South-Asian community members also own the most luxurious and top makes and models, including BMW, Mercedes, Landrover, Jaguar, Ferrari, Bentley, Harley Davidson, and Victory just to name a few. In addition, the Sikh Motorcycle Club, which is one of the largest motorcycle clubs in Canada, is situated right here in the Lower Mainland. Content: Road Kings Magazine is a professional publication that first, and foremost, provides its readers with information pertaining to the automobile and motorcycle industries. Regular segments

include reviews, service information, technical tid-bits, industry news, and manufacturer bulletins. In addition, readers have the opportunity to showcase their own automobile and/or motorcycle in the Owner Page. Finally, based on reader input, new sections may be added as the magazine evolves. Distribution: There will initially be 7,000 copies of Road Kings Magazine distributed in the Lower Mainland, on a monthly basis. The copies will be delivered to many automotive and motorcycle dealers, service centers, car washes and strategically selected South-Asian businesses and customization shops. Of course, the magazine will also be placed at specific related businesses, such as insurance dealers, community centers, and other high traffic locations where there is a strong South-Asian presence. Within a short period of time, and expanding reader base, copies of the magazine will be mailed to subscribers’ homes or businesses. This process will allow automobile and motorcycle related businesses the chance to send their information to target audience, being dealers and OEM’s. Online presence: Our team realizes that more and more people are shifting to online. As with our other publications, we are developing a multifeatured, yet user-friendly, website where all content of the magazine will be available in both languages. Aside from the monthly magazine content, the site will be updated weekly with industry news, bulletins, and upcoming events in a variety of formats. Users can access the website on computers, tablets, and even smartphones. Clients will be able to reserve various methods online to promote their products and services. Launch of the first issue: Roads Kings Magazine’s inaugural issue will be launched in the first week of April 2014. Look for it at your local businesses in the Lower Mainland.

ince my last review of the 2013 XF, I couldn’t wait to get behind the wheel of another Jaguar. The XF was impressive and I was pretty sure that Jaguar’s flagship XJ would also flatter me. Plus, after seeing the image of M being chauffeured around in the new XJL Portfolio, in the summer blockbuster Skyfall, I could only imagine how elegant the automobile would be. My test vehicle, the new 2013 XJ, was again supplied by Jaguar Richmond. Like the XF, the 2013 XJ came equipped with a new supercharged V6, all-wheel drive and an 8-speed transmission. The “new” XJ body style has been around since it was unveiled in

While some luxury sedans share some similarity in their conservative shapes, the 2013 XJ continues with its distinct and elegant exterior. The Jag is curvaceous, and its flowing lines are absolutely stunning. The front end of the car is muscular, yet elegant at the same time. The rear casket like look of the car is like no other vehicle and takes some time getting used, but the cat’s claw tail lamps are to be admired. not only stared, but actually stopped in their tracks. I now appreciate how M felt in her XJL. The interior of the XJ is exactly what one would expect from Jaguar, featuring contemporary aluminum, gorgeous real wood veneers and form-hugging supple leather. The cabin accurately reflects the size of the car – it is open and spacious. The standard glass panoramic roof not only allows the occupants of the vehicle to relish the world from a new perspective, but also floods the cabin with natural light, making it feel more airy. “Big wheels, big paint and classic drag-bike attitude meet premium modern refinement in this attention-grabbing performance cruiser” Big is the name of the game for the Breakout® model, and they don’t come bigger than this massive 18-inch, 240mm rear tire. It’s the widest tire we’ve ever put on a product motorcycle and, wrapped around that Gasser rim, it’s the perfect embodiment of the classic drag-bike heritage pumping through this ride.

hanks to some crafty engineering, you may never have to experience “Shift Shock” again. Here’s how a CVT delivers that smooth driving experience. HOW IT WORKS Imagine the CVT like a bicycle’s gear system. It’s made up of a pulley system, with cones at each pulley, all connected by a chain belt. These cones move closer together or further apart to increase or decrease the diameter at which the belt operates. The ratio here is important, and is selected automatically based on factors like gas pedal position, vehicle speed and engine speed. What all this means is that a CVT doesn’t shift at all like a traditional gearbox. The ratios are always changing in order to find the perfect combination for speed, fuel efficiency or both. Some CVTs even come with buttons to help shift between pre-set ratios which helps mimic a traditional automatic. The first time you drive a car with a CVT, you’ll know. The feel of a CVT can be odd. The rpm of the engine can fluctuate a lot while driving, especially when accelerating. Or when accelerating hard, they’ll just sit unchanged at a lofty rpm level while the car pulls forward. Compared to an automatic or manual transmission, a CVT is much smoother. Feeling like one really long gear, in reality its a nearly infinite collection of gears all meshed together. CLEAR BENEFITS Many cars nowadays are being sold with CVTs instead of traditional automatics, mainly because of their efficiency. In fact, the new 2013 Nissan Altima (above, read our review here) uses a CVT transmission and is rated as the most fuel efficient mid-size sedan on the market with a 38 mpg highway rating. In addition, almost all hybrids use CVT transmissions, including the Prius, helping maximize fuel economy. (Article courtesy of www.autoguide.com)

he Plymouth Barracuda is undoubtedly one of the most beloved muscle cars of all time. With Chrysler now revived and going strong, their newly up and running SRT division is getting ready to release several new models. If the new 2013 Viper is any indication, these upcoming cars could potentially become game changers in terms of performance, quality, and value. Needless to say we’re stoked. But let’s look back once again at Chrysler’s wonderful performance past. Teaser: Porsche 919 Hybrid Le Mans Pit Stop Outrageous 525hp Street-Legal Canadian Felino Lamborghini Aventador is a Vision of Yellow Sadly, their Plymouth division is long gone but there was a time in which some of the most famous muscle cars bore the brand’s badge. The Barracuda, many will argue, was one of their finest models as it combined all of the essential muscle car traits - often a smaller car with a large displacement engine. Although it was discontinued back in 1974, the Barracuda has forever been in the hearts and minds of countless fans. In 1996, those fans were given the pleasure of seeing a Barracuda convertible appear on television every week in the hit series “Nash Bridges”. For the course of six seasons, Nash Bridges (played by Don Johnson) and his partner Joe Dominguez (Cheech Marin) solved crimes and cruised the streets of San Francisco in Nash’s yellow Barracuda. When the series was ultimately cancelled in 2001, there were four matching ‘Curious Yellow’ ‘Cuda Convertibles left sitting around the studio lot and one of those was recently posted for sale on eBay. This 1970 Barracuda, supposedly the #1 film car, is powered by a 426 cu in Hemi V8 with more than 425hp. Restored for the series by renowned “movie land car czar” Frank Bennetti, the car originally started off with the 340 cu in V8. 14

eeping classic cars is fun and satisfying. Below are 4 of the most useful tips for optimal classic car maintenance. Proper storage The fist tip for maintaining a classic car is to store it properly. It has to be protected from the outside elements to prevent rusting and other problems that the changing weather can bring. If you plan to keep your car inside the garage for a specific amount of time like say, all winter, be sure you’re doing the right things like draining fluids, greasing and waxing to maintain its beauty. Wash your car regularly Washing your classic car regularly not only keeps it clean, it also helps in preserving the essential parts like paint and other body parts from deteriorating if done properly. Using the right kind of car shampoo is important because it contains less salt that may be helpful in cleaning up your car but it can also remove the car’s protecting polish. Using different sets of towels for each specific part could also help in reducing damage done by washing. Change the oil regularly Changing a classic car’s engine oil in a regular basis is important for your vehicle. If you want to keep a classic car in its perfect running condition, the oil should be replaced regularly. Change your car’s oil every 2 thousand miles is good for your car. Just make sure you run your car a couple miles before draining it to wash away anything that could lead to future problems. Drive your classic car One thing about classic car owners is that they collect these types of vehicles and just store it in their garage and using their standard cars for everyday use. Like all of the things in the world, cars, may it be classic or not, needs to be used regularly to keep it in its finest form. It needs to get out and breathe fresh air so as not to let its parts rot inside your garage. Proper storage is necessary to protect it from harsh elements, but just keeping it inside your garage forever isn’t doing it any good also.
