BRIGHTER HOLIDAY Start a new tradition with our holiday lights contest We’ve teamed up with six Cobb EMC members who will compete for your vote for the best light display. We invite you and your family to experience the joy of the holiday season and the spirit of giving by visiting all of the homes and voting in our inaugural holiday lights contest. Beginning December 1, we’ll post each of the six houses on our Facebook page and ask you to vote for your favorite light display by giving it a like. The winning home will receive a $1,000 donation from Cobb EMC to the nonprofit of their choosing. To visit the houses, follow the map located on the opposite side. Cobb EMC is also getting in the holiday spirit with a drive-through light display at our own Solar Flower Garden from 6-10 p.m. nightly from Dec. 1-Jan 5. Join us Dec. 1 as we kick off our drive through display. Santa, Mrs. Claus and Wattson will be handing out cookies from 6-8 p.m. We look forward to celebrating the holiday season with you! 12 DAYS OF GIVING HIGHLIGHTS COMMUNITY IMPACT We’re highlighting the needs of 12 different organizations and how we’re helping to make a difference in the communities we serve. 1. Breast cancer awareness: Our annual Pink Power Flock initiative reached more than 10,000 people to encourage screening and raised funds for local programs. 2. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta: Our team delivered goodie bags for healthcare workers at Children’s Healthcare at Town Center. 3. Christmas gifts: Cobb EMC employees collected gifts for foster children and Title 1 school-aged children. 4. Cobb EMC Foundation: Donations topped $815,000 in 2021. 5. Cobb Diaper Day: Our team helped collect more than 100,000 diapers for local organizations. 6. Home Energy Efficiency Makeover: We helped one local family with new appliances, insulation and other energy efficient improvements for their home. 7. LiveSafe Resources: Cobb EMC is supporting LiveSafe’s holiday season efforts for their families. 8. Mini-grants: We awarded 68 mini-grants to local teachers to help cover classroom expenses. 9. MUST Ministries: Cobb EMC employees collected business clothing for MUST’s workforce development team to help MUST clients with a second chance at stable careers. Cobb EMC also donated blankets to help clients stay warm. 10. Operation Warmth Cobb: Our team annually collects and distributes brand new coats to local children in need. 11. Scholarships: The Cobb EMC Foundation awarded more than $75,000 in scholarships to help local students pay for college.
