How can you save? Use less energy from 2-7 p.m. 1. Pre-cool your home before peak hours with a programmable thermostat. Set your thermostat to 80ºF or higher during peak hours. 2. Avoid using energy-hungry appliances at the same time. 3. Don’t use the oven. It makes your house warmer and causes your A/C unit to work harder. 4. Turn off unnecessary lights. 5. PLANT VOGTLE NOT AFFECTING MEMBERS Cobb EMC members should not be concerned with news that is circulating about cost overruns for the construction of nuclear Plant Vogtle units 3 and 4 and the bankruptcy of Westinghouse. Cobb EMC is not a participant in the Plant Vogtle expansion.
LOCAL MOTHER AWARDED $20,000 HOME ENERGY EFFICIENCY MAKEOVER Cobb EMC, in partnership with Gas South and the Cobb Heating and Air Association, awarded Barbara Bryant, a local mother of four, with a Home Energy Efficiency Makeover worth more than $20,000. The makeover selection committee considered more than 70 nominations before choosing Bryant. The makeover included a variety of home energy improvements including new energy-efficient appliances, a bill credit from Cobb EMC and two years of free natural gas service from Gas South.
