Get smart with your thermostat Save on your bills by using a smart thermostat. Program it to 78 degrees when you’re home and in need of cooling. Turn up the temperature when you’re away.
Watch the clock on weekdays One way to lower electric costs is to shift your energy use away from peak hours, 2-7 p.m. Limiting your energy use during peak hours helps you save on your electric bill. And it also helps the co-op save.

LOCAL FAMILY WINS MAKEOVER Cobb EMC and Gas South, in partnership with the Cobb Heating and Air Conditioning Association, awarded local father William Baxter with a Home Energy Efficiency Makeover. Baxter lives in Powder Springs with his wife, two children and two grandchildren. After suffering a stroke while at work in early 2016, Baxter fought for his life and went on to survive additional strokes, a respiratory infection, blood clots in his lungs, congestive heart failure and pneumonia. This year’s makeover included a variety of home energy improvements including new energy-efficient appliances, a bill credit from Cobb EMC, two years of free natural gas from Gas South, a new low-flow toilet and fixtures from the Cobb County Water System, and a new HVAC unit, insulation and smart thermostat from the Cobb Heating and Air Conditioning Association.
