“Providing an
excellent combination of instruments for all types of maintenance work
The 2945B and 2948B Communications Service Monitors are the lightest, most rugged service monitors available with a full performance spectrum analyser as standard. For field work the 2945B provides an excellent combination of instruments for all types of maintenance work. In the workshop, it provides all of the performance you would expect for exacting measurements. For that extra performance, the 2948B offers all the features of the 2945B but with a low
phase noise signal generator. This allows more accurate measurement of the noise characteristics of FM receivers where, for example, a signal-tonoise measurement of greater than 46 dB may be made on receivers with 12.5 kHz channel spacing. Field operation At under 12 kg (25 lb), both instruments lighten the load to remote sites. The shape is ideal for carrying. The side handle ensures that the instruments are clear of
the stairs when ascending buildings and the depth is suitable to be operated comfortably when placed on the floor. A large colour transflective (improved sunlight readable) display aids operation under harsh viewing conditions. An optional bail arm is also available. This option allows a stowage cover to be fitted over the front panel for storage of adapters and further protection to the instrument’s front panel.

Features
Fault diagnosis, repair and realignment of FM, AM and SSB transmitters and receivers is made easy with an impressive suite of standard features which set the 2945B above its peers.

With a measurement range of 0.05 mW to 150 W, it is possible to measure low-level off-air signals as well as direct connections to base stations without requiring any external amplifiers or attenuators.
A wide range of options further enhances the capabilities of the 2945B. The optional analog systems card enables automatic and manual testing of cellular, trunked or FM radios.
Full duplex operation allows testing of duplex radios as well as simultaneous testing of repeater transmit and receive paths.
In the 2948B, the avionics option provides signals for testing ILS receivers for localiser and glideslope, VOR beacon receivers with identification and SELCAL selective calling receivers with a representation
of the aircraft’s display in each mode. The 2945B is a signal generator, spectrum analyzer, power meter, modulation meter, oscilloscope, voltmeter, frequency counter, distortion meter, SINAD meter, S/N meter and more – all in one box. With its inherent reliability, the 2945B is trusted by commercial and military organisations all over the world.
