Dear ISHCMC Community, Another exciting week has come and gone at ISHCMC with MAP testing taking place in upper Primary, rainforest in KG, and learning all about natural disasters in grade 2. Also, for the first time ever our lower assembly had a live feed so parents could watch from home or from work. Special thanks to Ms. Cameron and Mr. Hua for their work on this. Our annual Variety Show is coming up at the end of the school year on Friday, June 13th. Auditions are open to students from Grades 2-5 and will be held in Ms. Jacklyn’s room (#115). Auditions are open to students and should involve only students. Please make sure that your performance is a maximum of 3 minutes so that we can include as many performances as possible. We encourage you to come and share your special talents! Due to the timing of the assembly, we will be looking for a variety of entertaining acts that include singing, dancing, musical instruments, jokes, skits, magic, etc…We would like to have a balance between boys and girls and from the different grade levels. You can pick up a registration form outside Mrs. Yung’s (#209), Ms. Goyder’s (#206) and Ms. Jacklyn’s (#115) classroom to be submitted no later than Friday, May 23rd.

Year in Review ISHCMC’s mission is complete By Drew There is only one more month until school is over!! This year everyone has improved their learning skills and their confidence has grown. We are all making progress on being caring, cooperative, collaborative, thinkers, risk takers and lots of other attributes. We are also being nicer to one another and are now showing teamwork during recces. Most people here in school have made lots of new friends since the beginning of the year, and all of the teachers have done an amazing job. Did you know that all of the teachers have to stay after school until 4:00pm? Students probably have no idea how hard they work. Also the parents have done an amazing job supporting their kids this year. I interviewed a few people and Mr. Peterson said that his favorite things going on this year are passion pro-
jects; he also liked the cardboard challenge and the grade 5 supports for the sports day. Mrs. Helen said “one thing I really like was book week because I like children’s books and reading is important”. Mrs. Ha said “my favorite part of the year was sports day because I like the grade 5 leadership”. Thuan in grade 4 said “I like passion projects because I get to play minecraft and stuff like that”. Everyone has done a good job with their work this year. The students should thank the staff more often, we should be thankful for them also. Without our wonderful staff and students,
Some of you guys might not know what super car means, it means fast or racing cars. Super cars look really cool but at the same time they are really expensive. They come in many different shapes and sizes. Super cars are not that common, you don’t see a lot of them on the road. Here is a cool fact about super cars; every single super car has 1 door on each side unlike normal cars, which have 2 doors on each side. The bad thing about having a super car is that you can’t go to places with your family because there are only spaces for 2 people. If you have a super car, that means you are really rich. Everyone gets shocked when they have they see a super car probably because they have never seen one before.
The new action day is due to arrive on the 30th of May. Passion Day is a day of all your Passions and for you to enjoy it. Passion means something that you like. If you like cooking then you might cook. Some people like gaming or playing games so that means that they will do that.
As for me I have chosen programing. I have chosen this because I have a Raspberry Pi. A Raspberry Pi is a sort of slow programing computer. Some people made a supercomputer with lots of Raspberry Pies and lego. Theo Grist 5A
GRATITUDE AND HAPPINESS TRAVELS TO PEOPLES HEARTS♥ Do you know what gratitude and happiness mean? Well, gratitude is thankfulness. Did you know scientists have found gratitude equals happiness? Here are a few examples of people we should show our gratitude to: Think about it the cleaners who work from really early mornings to really late nights, not hesitating to help anyone. They are always smiling when they come in to class to clean. We know they are there, so why don’t we say thank you, hi or even smile at them? If you do anything like smiling, it makes them happy. Small things can go a long way. And the guards,
too, we see them every day and the IT we need them to help us so let’s thank them too. When is the last time you: Thanked your nanny, parent, driver, sibling, staff or even friend?
Hugged anyone? Smiled at any staff ? Played with someone new? And you can do these things too, so why don’t you give it a try? You could even tell them everything they have done for you and that you appreciate them. Wait and see how happy it makes them. IT WILL MAKE THEM HAPPY ☺
