Message from the Primary Principal Dear Parents and Guardians, Another busy week has come and gone at ISHCMC but the lack of many secondary students means it was a bit quieter than usual. That being said, we had many notable events including PE Fun Day today (GREAT JOB PE!), a visit from a group of bikers who have pedaled all the way from England, and our first eReporters news broadcast. Positive Post is definitely starting to catch on here at school and is

a friendly and effective way to promote the IB Learner Profile in the school. Positive Postcards have been delivered to many students, teachers, and even a parent or two for showing caring, balanced, or reflective traits. Keep it up ISHCMC! Next week we have a grade 1 trip to Snap Café and we will start our MAP testing for grades 3-5. Have a great week! Kurtis Peterson

Book Week Wanted: ISHCMC will celebrate Book Week the first week in November. The teachers and students are planning a number of exciting events and learning experiences to commemorate books and love of reading. Our central idea is: Reading opens the universe to us. Primary Fun Afternoon
THE GREEN TEAM The Green Team is a group of students and teachers who wants to help the environment on the Earth. What are people doing to help the Earth? Cleaning up the environment Why did you set up this green team? To make the school a better place Why do you hate the containers and the cups? They are not nature friend. People throw them in the trash
We need your help. If you know anyone or are yourself involved in book publishing, writing, and/or illustration please let us know. We’d love to have a few special guests to come and talk to classes. We are also looking for parent volunteers to come and read in English and other home languages at different grade levels. If you’d like to help in any way or can lead us to some writers, illustrators, or publishers please email Nancy S at nancysnyder@ishcmc.edu.vn
MAP testing
What are you preparing for this year? Plant, recycle and picking up trash Why do you want to do this? To help the Earth and the surroundings of the school

MAP testing will provide the school with an insight into your child’s development, inform instruction for teachers, and potentially show growth in the school in reading and mathematics. Results will be shared with parents after testing has been completed. No preparation is required but please make sure your child has a healthy breakfast and plenty of sleep.
Spirit Week
New Student Interviews
The Spelling bee house day was the first day of spirit week, and I was one of the spellers in the dragon house!
The E-Reporters have been divided into different groups to do certain things. What this letter is about is what two girls (Venus and Brishti) did in their group.
Here is how you play: All 4 team houses (Dragons, Tigers, Cobras and Buffaloes) arrange who will be the spellers. So each speller has a colored (has to be your team color) piece of paper with one letter from the alphabet. Next a judge says a quiz like “What does a duck say?” so on the chairs we spell ‘quack’. Whoever has the letters Q, U, A, C or K, they sort themselves into the word.
What we did was to interview new students around primary school in ISHCMC. So we told classes what we will do and where we will be holding the meeting. We decided to hold it in the library. Theo, Izi, Zain and Brishti are who we interviewed. We had lots of fun together. We interviewed Theo first. Next we interviewed lzi. Then it was Brishti’s turn. And then it was Zain’s turn.
Well, who won the spelling bee contest? The dragons did! Here is how they won: The dragons had 5 points and the Buffaloes and Tigers had 4 points. We had 1 more question and it was ‘Violet’. I was up for that one and I was in the 3rd chair. Can you guess which letter I was? We spelled Violet correctly and quickly so we got an extra point and the dragons won!
They liked school and most of them want to be an e-reporter. We could always use some more people! They felt (and we agreed) that we should have friends to play with in your new school.
1st place: Dragons
Everyone seems very satisfied about the friends, teachers and learning!
2nd place: Tigers 2nd place: Buffaloes
Thank you everybody who went to the interview. We hope you enjoyed our letter!
3rd place: Cobras Thank you! And for the Cobras, you have done a very good job! Thank you for reading and hope you enjoyed it!
