Jahaira. Ténica: Acrylic on wood
We are used to beauty, we don´t appreciate things or stop for a minute to notice different details. During this art course I found out that it´s not necessary to be in love, to see everything in a magnified way, it´s all about how you´re willing to perceive the world. After realizing this, I decided to use my art as a tool to explore all those details that most of us ignore. My idea of giving importance to the unnoticed is shown throughout my art. During this two years I have used variety of Medias such as acrylics, sculptures, ink, oil and intervened photograph. One of the things that really identifies me is how I use my hands, in all my art works. This helped me to express my feelings and establish a connection with my art piece.
Deep Eyes. Técnica: Acrylics on Wood
Ronaldo. Técnica: Photography and Acrylics I used organic materials, such as wood that evoke the sensation of nature and allows the viewer to feel in a different atmosphere. This gave a special touch to my art due to the treatment of "living" things. What I like the most about my works is the meaning they have, they are all a piece of me. They are the pure expression of my naked heart, they are a monologue of brushes, color and shades telling a story. I was greatly influenced by the French artist JR, who believes in changing rules with freedom. Who wants to give a voice to every one through his art pieces because they carry a message. I was also inspired by the expressionist movement that pursued the innovations in art and treated more personal themes, such as the study of the self. I was identify by their philosophy of creating new styles and ending with the traditional techniques.

However, from year 1 to year 2, my art changed completely. I found my artistic identity by exploring different kinds of media, instead of just using oil on canvas as I did before. My interest in mixed media and mostly intervened photography led me to discover artists like Pepón Osorio, Austyn Weiner and Gerhard Richter, who influenced the way I express my ideas.
The definition of Art for me, as maybe for many, changes every passing day, however the only thing I know for sure, is that it is a reflection of life. I´m a truly empiric being, my experiences are what determines the way I think, and for this reason, the connotation that art has in my life deepens as my human experience broadens. Since the beginning of this 2-year-process I was very interested in expressing my observations and ideas through art, looking at the world using humanist glasses and representing transformation. My artwork was mainly an extension of my personality and myself, hence, the name of my theme was "The Evolution of the Being", and my studio work mostly strived to have a personal and spiritual function.
I find myself now very motivated in using art, as a denouncement of what I personally believe is important but remains inexistent to many. I´m now curious to give a deeper meaning to my work, rather than just individual significance as I´ve done before. I want to use my art as my power to claim importance to social matters, especially in my country, in other words, use it as a tool, as a magnifying glass. 5
