BE FIT FOR LIFE

Make choices so Healthy Living works for your lifestyle.

We all come from different backgrounds, have different preferences, values, abilities, time constraints and commitments. It makes sense that YOUR path the healthy living needs to be specific to you.

Nutrition Consider your culture, preferences, needs and circumstances. The idea of a well-balanced plate of whole grains, protein and fruits and vegetables can apply to a wide variety of food selections. Try to incorporate more homemade meals and snacks. Take the time to enjoy eating, especially when it can include the company of family or friends. For recipe ideas check out the e-book from Dietitians of Canada.

Physical Activity The guidelines of 150 minutes per week of moderate to vigorous activity for adults, and 60 minutes per day for children and youth can be met in so many ways!

Active commuting - Building walking or biking into daily commutes is an easy way to increase your physical activity. What's fun for you? Backyard games, exploring nature, sports, virtual workouts or playground fun (good for all ages!) Try a variety of activities, keep a log or use a fitness tracker like the ParticipACTION app for ideas and motivation.
