Public trees in Lethbridge provide many benefits for the environment and sustainability of our City including: •Storing over 128 million kg of CO2 and sequester over 4 million kg of CO2 from the atmosphere. •Protecting infrastructure through the prevention of erosion and the reduction of rainwater through storm sewers. •Intercepting over 331,000 cubic metres of rainfall feach year. •Creating a significant neighbourhood cooling effect which results in increased comfort and energy savings for residents. •Removing particulates and pollution from the air.

Parks also provide habitat for wildlife. Birds, deer, rabbits, coyotes, porcupines and skunks are just a few of Lethbridge’s wild residents making their home in our parks and river valley spaces. Each play a key role in the function and balance of the natural ecosystems that are our parks.
