The exhibition is showing in Edinburgh City Art Centre from November 9 2019 till March 8 2020. It contains original prints by Edwin Smith, on loan from the archive of Edinburgh University Press - these prints are not for sale. This catalogue contains reproductions of the new images in the exhibition by Colin McLean, which are for sale at the prices listed herein. The prints are mounted with plain white matts and silk finish black frames. To purchase a print, contact the shop at the City Art Centre - 0131 529 3993. The Photographer Colin McLean is a freelance architectural photographer, specialising in photographing historic buildings and places. Colin studied Architectural History at the University of Edinburgh and blends his knowledge of the subject with his photographic expertise. His photography was recognised with the award of a distinction by the Royal Photographic Society in 2014. He has worked for a range of architectural practices, trusts and heritage bodies across the UK. His photographs have appeared in a range of publications, in print and broadcast media, and in exhibitions: • “Grey Gardens”, Dundee Contemporary Arts 2016 • “Home”, Royal Scottish Academy 2016 Colin is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society, an affiliate member of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland and is the current Chair of the Scottish Civic Trust. Colin rarely uses artificial light, preferring to exploit natural light and to use long exposures on a tripod-mounted camera - particularly for interiors. Colin uses professional grade Nikon DSLR cameras and Nikkor lenses. Virtually all shots are tripod-mounted to allow accuracy of composition, image sharpness and long exposures where dictated by ambient light levels.
