Hello Division 9,

The District Board ........ 3

I would like to take the time to introduce myself. I am Colin Reeves and I will be a senior at Captain Shreve High School next year. I have been in Key Club for all three previous years and will be Co-Vice President this upcoming year. I hope to bring a strong bond between our sponsoring Kiwanis groups and school clubs, helping out more in the community and hopefully bringing some more clubs to Division 9. If you have any ideas or just want to talk, do not hesitate to call me. UPCOMING EVENTS!

Rally: November 12th @ Captain Shreve High School from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM 1

Ideas for Division 9  This year I really want to bring a bond between the individual clubs and have a Division 9- wide Dance Marathon to raise money for St. Jude’s or the Providence House. I’m thinking have it around a holiday so that we can raise money for Christmas or Thanksgiving. This will involve a huge amount of cooperation among the clubs, but I believe we will be able to get it done.  Another great idea is take your Kiwanis sponsor to lunch/dinner. Many of the Executive boards do not know who their sponsor is when they are an essential part to a healthy club.  Make a big deal out of Key Club (whether with initiations, or advertising.)  If there are any suggestions on forums or a service project to go with rally please tell me.

Reminders:  Please get in your monthly reports.  If you haven’t gotten your contact information in; I need email, address, and phone numbers. I have gotten most of them from the Presidents.  Shoot for at least 5 hours a member for the month.  Dues are due no later than Dec. 1 or your club will be marked delinquent. ($13 total= $6.50 for District + $6.50 for International)

Tips to be at the Top What an officer should know‌ President The club president is responsible for setting and monitoring the goals of the club, running club meetings, appointing committee chairs and delegating tasks as necessary, recruiting, training and retaining members and maintaining regular communication with the lieutenant governor of his or her division. Vice President The role of the club vice president can be summarized in one word: service. The vice president serves the president, other club officers, committees and the general membership. He or she is also expected to learn the duties of the president in order to fill in or take over as necessary. Secretary The office of secretary is one of the most demanding in the organization and a good secretary is essential to the proper functioning of any Key Club. The secretary is responsible for taking minutes, keeping records and maintaining all important files for the club. Treasurer The club treasurer controls the club’s money, both its collection and disbursement. He or she collects member dues, prepares and monitors the budget and maintains accurate financial records. ****Advisors are not supposed to run a meeting; they are there to advise you. *****

Last Thoughts: I plan to host a PCM with everyone to explain plans for the upcoming year. I hope to see all the Executive Boards. We will go to a restaurant, so if there are any ideas on somewhere affordable and a date that is good for everyone in July please email me. I always have my phone; so you can contact me through text, Facebook, Twitter, email, or even calling me. My next newsletter I hope to be able to say that I have gotten all contact information. I will be going to ICON on June 27 through July 3 in Phoenix, Arizona; pictures and topics about ICON will be in the next newsletter as well. Have a great summer,
