At Embry-Riddle, our students are often more interested in aviation, robotics, space, and engineering than in football and tailgate parties. That’s why you’ll see ERAU Eagles participating in competitions you may not even know about! Cheer them on as they earn recognition, gain skills, and win awards!

The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) hosts seven different competitions each year and ERAU has historically been the only University to compete in all. Categories are air, land, and water and teams develop the robotic systems to perform in each. It’s a great way for students to apply their STEM education outside the classroom. Learn more at robonation.org.

The National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) supports aviation education and safety and provides an arena for collegiate aviation competition. Students from Embry-Riddle’s residential campuses participate each year and are often the teams that can’t be beat! The winners of regional competitions, or SAFECON, move ahead to compete at NIFA in contests that include landings, navigation, pre-flight, and flight instruction. Learn more at safecon.nifa.aero. Baja SAE is an intercollegiate design competition run by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Teams of students from all over the world design and build small off-road cars to race against one another in the harshest elements of rough terrain. Embry-Riddle’s Women’s Baja SAE team is historically the only team completely comprised of females. Learn more at sae.org.

The EcoCAR3 Competition is a premier collegiate engineering program that gives teams from sixteen North American universities the challenge of redesigning a Chevrolet Camaro into a hybrid-electric car that will reduce environmental impact, while maintaining the muscle and performance expected from this iconic American car. This will be the third time Embry-Riddle has been invited to participate in North America’s premier collegiate automotive engineering competition. Learn more at campusgroups.erau.edu/ecocar.
