CSU, Chico is impacted for freshman applicants. Applicants from the local admission areas will receive additional points toward their consideration.
CSU, Chico is impacted for freshman applicants.
Local admission area:
Due to COVID-19, CSU, Chico will not be using the SAT or ACT for admission for Fall 2021, Fall 2022, and Spring 2023 terms, and will instead be using multi-factor admission criteria. The criteria being used include: •
GPA
•
Local Admission Service Area
•
Veteran Status
•
Verified Foster Youth, Unaccompanied Homeless Youth or Ward of the Court
•
Extracurricular Activities
We will have an increased GPA requirement for students outside of our local admission area due to being an impacted campus. Applicants will be “rank ordered” by GPA and additional multi-factor criteria. Admission offers will be made in descending order until the freshman class is full. We will not know the final GPA cut-off until we are able to review the entire applicant pool.

Students who graduate from high school from one of the following counties or school districts: Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama, Yuba and four school districts in Trinity (Mountain Valley, Southern Trinity, Trinity Alps and Trinity High School) are considered our local admission area. The Butte County Promise (butte.edu/buttecountypromise) demonstrates our commitment to local area students to remove barriers and provide opportunities to become both civically engaged and to earn a degree. We will have an increased eligibility index (from the traditional CSU minimum eligibility index of a 2950) for students outside of our local admission area. Applicants will be “rank ordered” by eligibility index. Admission offers will be made in descending order until the freshman class is full. We will not know the final index cutoff until we are able to review the characteristics of the entire applicant pool.
