Department of Public Safety
LMU Public Safety is responsible for security operations, investigations, emergency management and preparedness. Public Safety offers an array of services to support and promote the security and safety of our campus community, including after-hours safety escorts on campus, bike registration and routine campus patrol. Each year, Public Safety facilitates two campus-wide emergency preparedness drills in addition to ongoing training and education.
LMU Alert
During a campus or area-wide incident or emergency, the university will send important information and instructions to the LMU community via LMU Alert, the university’s emergency notification system. LMU Alerts may include phone calls, text messages and/or email to registered users. All LMU students automatically receive alerts on their Lion email accounts, and are required to register their personal information in LMU Alert.
LMU Safty App (Rave Guardian)
Rave Guardian, Public Safety’s mobile app, includes safety tips and maps, important phone numbers, campus resources and an anonymous reporting link. Parents and guardians can also download the app to receive LMU Alerts.
Website

Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, LMU’s Annual Security Report includes statistics for the previous three calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by LMU, and on public property immediately adjacent to and accessible from campus.
Contacting Public Safety
In a life-threatening emergency, your student should call 9-1-1 immediately, then report the incident to Public Safety. To contact Public Safety, call x222 from a campus landline phone, call 310.338.2893, or use the Rave Guardian app. We strongly advise all students to download the app and program Public Safety’s number into their phones.

Parking on Campus
All drivers are expected to read and comply with university regulations. For the complete set of parking rules and regulations, visit our Parking and Transportation webpage.
Vehicle Registration and Permits
LMU charges to park cars on campus. LMU is a virtual parking campus, which means that license plates are used to identify registered vehicles rather than physical permits. Since physical permits are not issued, individuals must accurately register their vehicle information through LMU Park, found within the MyLMU portal. For current registration/permit rates, please visit our Parking and Transportation webpage.
Students enrolled in seven or more billable units will be charged automatically for parking each semester. Students not wishing to be charged for parking must opt out by the semester add/drop deadline via LMU Park. Please note that students who are automatically charged for parking must still register their vehicle’s information via LMU Park.
Parking Assignments
Students are only permitted to park in designated areas determined by their housing assignment.
Enforcement
Vehicles parked in violation of the university’s regulations or parking policies will be subject to citation and tow. Citations may be contested within the first 14 days of issuance by submitting an appeal online through LMU Park. Parking citations left unpaid for 14 or more days will be automatically transferred to the student’s account with a late fee and the loss of the right to appeal. Vehicles left unregistered with four or more unpaid citations will be impounded at the owner’s expense. CVC regulations and timed spaces are enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Visitor Parking
All visitors to campus must pay for parking Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. For current rates of visitor parking, please visit our website. Payments can be made in person at a campus Pay Station, online at LMU Park, or through the Parkmobile app.
A valid license plate number must be entered at the time of payment. When paying with Parkmobile, please use zone 961 for LMU. Individuals with state-issued DMV disabled placards or license plates may park in any designated disabled parking space on campus. Registration and payment is still required.
Transportation Alternatives
LMU has various alternative transportation options for those looking to get around without a vehicle.
Zipcar
LMU partners with Zipcar, a 24/7 car rental service that allows rentals by the hour. Rates are competitive and geared towards college students. These cars are conveniently located near housing areas on campus.
