Private & Semi-private Lessons Traditional and Suzuki Method We offer lessons provided by RMCMA faculty members on virtually all instruments and voice. Visit COmusic.org/about-us/faculty/ for more information about our faculty. Tuition for private lessons: $27 for 30 minutes, $37 for 45 minutes, and $50 for 60 minutes. Semi-private lessons may be taken in groups of two to four students of similar ability. Tuition for semi-private lessons split between participants: $45 for 45 minutes or $55 for 60 minutes.
Heartstrings Program for everyone The two branches of our Heartstrings Program ensure that everyone has access to quality music education regardless of age, ability, or financial resources. Needbased Tuition Assistance is available to all students. The Musical Instrument Bank provides low-cost instrument rentals to families who are unable to purchase or rent an instrument through traditional methods. Instruments are made available on a sliding scale, as low as $5 a month (subject to instrument availability).

Participants experience songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play.
Suzuki Violin Camp – Younger Players Jun 17-jun 21
Ages: 3-6 (with Caregiver) Location: RMCMA, Lafayette Monday – Friday | 11 am-12 pm Instructors: Kat Fritz, Sarah Murray Tuition: $70 Sing, dance, explore rhythm and pitch. . . and play the violin! Developmentally appropriate activities provide a solid foundation for the budding musician. Violins may be rented from RMCMA, pending availability.

Meet the Instruments Camp | jun 3-jun 6
(See Meet The Instruments CLASS on pages 3 & 6) Ages: 4-6 (with Caregiver) & 7-9 Location: RMCMA, Lafayette Monday – Thursday | 9 am-12 pm Instructor: James Cline Tuition: $150 Campers will learn about woodwind, brass, percussion, string, and keyboard instruments through exciting hands-on activities. Explore the connection between music and visual art through creative play, including an art project and drumming workshop. Each day will feature a short performance by RMCMA faculty members. Students will have the opportunity to see, hear, and play each instrument!
Bluegrass Camp for Kids | jun 10-jun 14 Ages: 8-16 Location: RMCMA, Lafayette Monday – Thursday | 9 am-12 pm Instructors: Mike Finders, Ryan Drickey Tuition: $200 How to solo, backup, and jam! This class is for budding musicians who want to learn how to jam bluegrass style in a fun and energetic setting. All bluegrass instruments are welcome: violin/fiddle, guitar, banjo, mandolin, and bass. All students will have the opportunity to sing and learn about the history of bluegrass.

Ages: 4-7 Location: RMCMA, Lafayette Monday – Friday | June: 1 pm-2 pm | July: 9 am-10 am Instructor: Katie Couch Tuition: $60 Dalcroze Education is a unique and powerful foundation in music in which theory always follows practice. Musical concepts are felt intuitively through body movement before the process of cognitive analysis begins. Concepts are explored through social, interactive, and experiential methods that invite students to trust their ideas, develop their own intuition, and create a meaningful musical vocabulary. This class is an introduction to our year-long programs that begin at the end of August. Presented in collaboration with Dalcroze School of the Rockies.

Ages: 8-16 Location: RMCMA, Lafayette Monday – Friday | 1 pm-4 pm Instructor: Annie Savage Tuition: $150 Designed for beginning and intermediate string players who want to learn how to jam in bluegrass, Celtic, and old-time styles in a group setting. Students will be introduced to the unique techniques of jamming and improvising. All string players are welcome: fiddle/violin, viola, cello, and bass.

Middle/High School Learn to Jam – Bluegrass Style | begin jun 4
Ages: Middle School & Up Location: RMCMA, Lafayette Tuesdays | 5 pm-6:30 pm Instructor: Annie Savage, Mike Finders, and guests Tuition: $20/session. $15 for additional family members. Led by professional players, this class will explore improvisation, chord use and comprehension, and performing within a safe and encouraging environment. All bluegrass instruments are welcome: violin/fiddle, guitar, banjo, mandolin, and bass.
Folk Songwriting Camp | jun 10-jun 14
Ages: 11-18 Location: RMCMA, Lafayette Monday – Friday | 1 pm-4 pm Instructor: Mike Finders Tuition: $150 Learn techniques for starting and finishing your own songs, building and participating in a supportive community, and arranging and performing your song. Campers will go through the writing processes of drafting, revising, and performing. Bring your instrument if you play one. The last class will include a friends and family performance.
Flute Class | jun 4-jul 11
Ages: 10-13 Location: RMCMA, Lafayette Tuesdays and Thursday (no class July 4) | 2 pm-3:45 pm Instructor: Ysmael Reyes Tuition: $125 For flute students who have up to two years of instruction and who want to improve their general playing and music reading abilities, this class will work on fundamentals such as breathing, tone, breath control, articulation, and fingering. Students will also develop ensemble playing in small group settings. Emphasis will be placed on helping students feel more comfortable and confident.

RMCMA Goes to Broadway | jul 1-jul 12
Ages: 8-12, 13-17 Location: RMCMA, Lafayette Monday – Friday (no class July 4 & 5) | 1:30 pm-4:30 pm Instructors: Faye Nepon, Rachel Fetler Tuition: $270 Explore a wide variety of scenes from the musical stage! We will learn and perform songs and group numbers from your favorite Broadway shows. This camp culminates with the excitement of a live performance for family and friends on Friday evening, 7pm.
Harp Camp | jul 8-jul 12
Ages: 9-15 (at least one year of harp lessons required) Location: RMCMA, Lafayette Monday – Friday | 9:30 am-12:30 pm Instructor: Carolyn Kuban Tuition: $250 Beginning and intermediate harp students will be coached in both ensemble and solo formats. Participants will learn about composing for the harp as well as learning rhythms and counting through drumming. Tuition includes a masterclass and short performance by CMF and Chicago Lyric Opera Principal Harpist, Marguerite Lynn Williams (see page 15). The final day will feature a performance by students and Mrs. Kuban. Harp rentals may be available.

Hone the musical skills you will need to make the transition with a BVSD music educator. Monday through Thursday we meet in sections for more personalized instruction. On Friday we join together for a full rehearsal and concert for family and friends. Ice cream social included!
Flute, Yoga, Music, & Movement Intensive jul 15-jul 18

Discover alternative methods for easing performance anxiety. C’s Jazz – Blues and Beyond | jul 22-jul 23

Whether you are a novice or a pro, you can join friends and neighbors to make music together. Each session includes both group instruction and playing time. Combos will be formed based on experience and ability. Auditions are necessary for new members and will be arranged after registration. Both combos and the ensemble will present a concert on July 24. Participants who have never written a song will learn techniques and tricks to get started. In this participatory workshop, some of the best ideas and feedback come from other writers.

YOUNG PEOPLE’S CONCERTS: The Animated Orchestra | Jun 29 only!
Ages 4 & up, fun for the whole family! Chautauqua Auditorium, Boulder | 10 am & 1 pm Tickets just $8/$7 for groups of ten or more! The Animated Orchestra is a narrated work about a cartoon score being performed at a symphony concert. The hero of the cartoon is a ferret - an animal known for its insatiable curiosity and playfulness - that inadvertently sneaks into an instrument repair shop late one night while its owner, a sleepy older gentleman, dozes. There’s more to the adventure as things progress beyond the shop! Following each concert, join us on the lawn for a Music Fair where kids can meet real live ferrets, costumed characters, try the instrument petting zoo, enjoy face painting, balloon tying, a scavenger hunt, snacks and more.

The Colorado Music Festival presents one of the most beloved films of all time, The Wizard of Oz, in this magical new production.
