WESTERN PROVINCE CHINESE SPORTS ASSOCIATION HIGH TEA FUNDRAISER

WESTERN PROVINCE CHINESE SPORTS ASSOCIATION HIGH TEA FUNDRAISER 28 SEPTEMBER 2014 The Western Province Chinese Sports Association held its first fundraising event in the form of a High Tea on Sunday 28 September 2014. Funds raised are being earmarked towards the hosting of the Annual Easter Tournament to be in Cape Town next year. This Fundraiser was, thankfully, very well supported by our Community, family and friends. We also had fantastic weather that afternoon. Altogether there was an attendance of about 260 people. I called for willing and able hosts to assist me. The hosts were asked to look for guests, provide eats and drinks for them, decorate their tables as they saw fit, as well as bring their own crockery, cutlery, serviettes and table decorations with them and then cart everything back home afterwards! What a fabulous effort and what an amazing group of hosts that responded. WPCSA is hugely grateful for the generosity and commitment of all the hosts, and acknowledge that without them, this event would not have been possible. A big “Thank You” again to: Daphne Manley, Patsy Keeson, Carol Timkoe (3 tables), Sybil Li-Hunt, Lindy Chung, Jackie Young, Kathy Forlee, Bianca Forlee, Maureen Kai, Cilla Lee Pan, Paul Kingston, Lauren Radloff (2 tables), Barry Radloff, Helen Waison, Linna Wong, Charmaine Liang, Cheryl Chung, Vanessa Lin, Debbie Leong, Renée Liang (3 tables). You were absolute stars! We had an Entertainer who sang and provided some background music and it was great to see our line dancers in the community get up and “do their thing”. It was great fun to watch. They were the ones who actually provided the entertainment for everyone and much joy, merriment and laughter was had by all. It was heartwarming to see so many of the community come out to support this and I received many emails afterwards commenting on how lovely it was to see so many people who hadn’t been out in a long time. It looks like this might become an Annual event in the future. Now the pressure is on for the next fundraising effort…. Renée Liang WPCSA, Fundraising Convenor
