8ºA - GROUP 2 - STORY 1

The mystery of Mr. Murphy As a big crowd started to gather around the Murphy’s place, the ambulance arrived. The little town of Harbridge was devastated and traumatized. The horrors that happened that night were so terrible and that place wouldn’t handle it. Hours before, at that same house, everything was rather regular, except for that chaos would be taking place in the residence some time later. The owner of the place, Mr. Washington Murphy was a handsome guy _ rich and powerful man who had a lot of enemies. His brother, Jonas, was a very jealous person who hated the status his brother had achieved, being included in his list . One day, the sky was dark and it was raining and a freezing breeze was blowing through little town . By 23:37, a great horror took place. Someone broke the window of the Murphy house, and a scream echoed everywhere. Jonas was found on the ground of his brother’s room, with a hole in his head and a gun next to him. At that time, Mr. Murphy was in his home office working, but unfortunately the one blamed on and found guilty was him, because of his conflicts with his brother, and the pile of evidences against him. We know it! Mr. Murphy couldn´t have done that, or at least, that is what he had said.

The police arrived and Mr Murphy was in mourning of the dead. Jonas’s body was taken to the autopsia room. When Washington got there, after some time, he had to go immediately to a place called as ‘S.I.R _‘special interrogation room’. Most of the evidences pointed out that he could´ve been responsible for his brother murder and it would´ve been hard to defend himself. The detective came in the room and started to question where Mr Murphy was at the time of the crime, when he had seen his brother alive for the last time, how was their relationship, etc. But all he said was_ ‘I won't say anything without the presence of my lawyer’. The detective went to his place in order to talk to the housekeeper to see if she knew anything that could help. She was sitting on a corner, terrified while weeping of fear. The detective approached her quite nicely and said ‘Calm down, I´ll just be asking some... few questions… Was there anyone else in the house besides you, Murphy and the victim?’. Gagging and choking, the woman answered, ‘No. The only thing I know is that these family members didn’t have a very pleasant kind of relationship. Jonas was really envious of Mr. Murphy because of his success, money and fame, but Mr. Murphy had always tried to fix the relationship’.

8ºA - GROUP 2 - STORY 1

I guess, she said _ ‘he actually loved his brother, I don’t think he would commit such a horrible act. ‘He wouldn´t have done anything like that’. The detective got thoughtful, lost in many doubts. He went back to the crime scene to see if he could find any more evidences that could point out to another possible murderer. While looking for it he saw a note on the dresser. It seemed to be a note from the victim, but soon, he realised it wasn’t. It was a threat sent to him, saying that he was playing with the wrong person. He took the note to the police station to compare the note to Murphy’s handwriting. It was when he found out, for his surprise, they weren’t the same. He could not be the killer. It was someone else and he was going to find out the real murderer. A few days later no new discoveries had been made in the case. They still didn’t know whose letter it was, which means they didn’t know who the killer was. Until one afternoon, while the detective was looking over the documents she saw a handwriting that reminded him of the one in the note. It was the housekeeper’s signature on her statement. He sent them to be analysed and some hours later she had her answer. The note was actually confession note, from from Washington Murphy. It explained it all: Murphy had actually killed Jonas, for no apparent reason. But the police’s analyst didn’t get fooled based on that piece: The note handwriting was Jonas’. He was the killer!

Who’s in the dark streets? It was a dark, freezing night. The full moon was bright, shining like fireworks. The empty streets sounded the deepest silent, when suddenly a car noise took that away. A young, vivid man was coming back home from his late night shift. Worried, the only thing he could think of was getting home and he was going back home as fast as he could. It was when he started to notice a strange thing. Even while stepping on the accelerator of the car, it kept going slower and slower. Until it stopped. Quickly, he got out of the car and went to check out what was wrong. He opened the car’s hood and saw that it was going to take an expert to fix that. He got his phone and decided to call the car company. Meanwhile, he got rather frustrated that no one would pick up the phone, he heard a strange noise. It sounded like a soft cry, those who come out of children's eyes. As he looked up and saw his reflection in his newly polished car, he realized that he wasn’t alone in that cold dark night, there was a child in the shadows created by the street lights, the man, scared to his core approached the child trembling and carefully touched her arm, and instantly there was a muffled scream coming from the dark alley, just a few feet away from both. Scared, but yet curious he decided to investigate about it, and so as he entered the narrow one way street, he saw the young and lonely girl clearly, with red clothes and a little dark spots on her forehead. She seemed cold, as if someone had thrown her in the freezing lake nearby. With pain in his heart, he decided to take that poor child home and maybe he could take care of her as well.

in the fridge. He looked for something he had in the fridge. It was getting late, and the little child was yawning. George tried to sing a lullaby of the old times so that the little one could get to sleep. In the middle of the night, he woke up with something sharp in his neck. Without making any quick movement, he turned around slowly to see who was holding the knife, and as he did he saw the little girl with devil’s eyes, he pushed her to the cold floor, and ran to save his life, he tried to open the door quickly, but it was locked. She slowly walked towards him. Scared, he opened his drawer and held his gun, without thinking twice he shot the girl right in her head. As she fell dead on the cold floor, the neighbours rushed to his house to see what was going on. ‘George, open the door!’ the neighbours shouted. Desperately, he placed her dead body under his bed, got a towel from the bathroom and cleaned the blood which was spread on the floor. He found the key and quickly opened the door, and the neighbours came inside. They asked what happened and all George could think as an excuse was _ ‘Sorry for the noise, my car broke and when I went to see what had happened to it the car when its engine exploded’. Quite satisfied with the explanation, the neighbors left and George came back to his room to think what he would do next.

After a few minutes, he decided he would take advantage of the darkness of the night and get rid of the body throwing what used to be a frightened girl in the lake behind his house. He wrapped her pale, lifeless body in a blanket and left the house With the car still broken, he caught the child in his making as little noise as possible. He arrived at the lake and threw her. He stayed there until the body arms and started walking slowly back to his had completely sank. Once that happened, he left house. When he got there, the girl said she was home with guilt on his heart and fear in his hungry, so he gave her something to feed her consciousness. empty stomach.

Y8 - CLASS A - GROUP II - STORY II

For the next days, life moved on as normal as before that night. He had fixed his car, a little hole in the gas tank, the mechanic said. But the next Sunday, something terrible took place on the house: While he was cooking some smores to eat as a midnight snack, an unexpected visitor arrived and knocked on his window. Soaked and trembling with cold, a pale face with a hole in the middle, stared at him with glazed eyes. Her hair was frozen and her mouth was purple. She was mumbling undistinctable words and pointing at him. The only thing that he could do was scream because, if he tried to hide, she would find him and if he tried to kill her.. well, she was already dead. He stared at her for few minutes, and the girl was just, you know, approaching him, but doing nothing; until one moment. She took a stone out of the pocket of her bloody dress, and smashed the window, leaving a red stain on it. The first thing he thought of doing was getting in his other car and driving to as far as he could. So, he did it: he ran and turned the engine on. He opened the gate and started driving. Several minutes after, suddenly, the car stopped. He’d ran out of gas. Looking around, he didn’t see anyone, so he thought he had misled her. He got out of the car to look for gas: he thought he had a galoon on his car. He was looking at the car trunk when he felt a huge pain on his back. He was feeling cold, everything started to get dark. He was weak. He fell on the floor. He was dead. Walking away from the car, the little girl, holding a bloody knife, wearing a white dress with a hole in her forehead.Left behind, a cold dead body of a lifeless man with terror in his eyes.

When she got away from the dead man’s car, she saw another car, approaching the little girl quiclyl. Hidden, she threw a little rock on the gas tank of the car and made it leak. Fastly, it was out of gas. As another man left the gasless car. it was when George heard a soft, girlie cry.

The fate of the twins

A long time ago, in a far away lodge, you could hear something strange such as gunshots by the strike of midnight. The old man who was always quiet but drunk and turned to be aggressive. His kid was young - only three years old, so he would never know his father could do such a thing to him. The boy was murdered Since then, this boy’s spirit possess little and innocent kids, so he can kill his parents as revenge for what was done to him. Not so long ago, a family moved to the house that used to be the murdered boy’s home. Everything looked just fine and calm, like that time things would really work out, but poor them, they didn’t know anything. It was a restart to them, they got in debt and had to get a loan from the bank to have a humble place to live. The young twins had to share a very small room and the parents got the ‘big’ room of the house, which was everything but big. They were managing on their own to live like that _ a simple life, but being happy and so far they were doing great… until, one cold friday night in October. The kids came back home from school, everything was looking quite normal. They ate cereal with strawberries, their favorite snack in the afternoon. They went to their parents room and noticed they weren’t there, but this really didn’t bother them,: they got their books and started doing all the big load of homework. It was when the young boys realised the house was covered by darkness. The children screamed so hard and so loud that some of the glasses at the windows cracked. They got scared since they didn't know what was happening. So, in a fraction of a second, a hand appeared in the mirror in front of them. While everything was happening, they heard a gunshot.

One hour later, there was nothing remaining from the young twins’ bodies. When their parents were back, they started calling for the twins, but no answer was given. They thought it was just a prank, a typical thing they were used to doing, since the twins loved playing practical jokes. So the parents kept doing their things, waiting for the twins to give up and show up soon. At night, they got a little worried, but both decided to bed very calmly, thinking the twins would show up anytime. In the middle of the night, the dad woke up with a low cry in his ear. Thinking it was his son, he jumped out of the bed trying to comfort the child. While he was trying to hug him, he felt something in his heart. He placed his hand on the injury and fell on the ground. His wife woke up and went over to help. The man was almost dying. His last words were _ ‘Darling. Run!’. After that, all she could see was blood coming out of a hole in his chest and dead body. Desperately, the woman ran to the twins’ room. She would save their lives. Checking the bedroom, she saw nothing. Then she quickly checked the bathroom: nothing. Leaving the bathroom, she looked back, at the mirror, thinking she had heard something coming from there. In the mirror, she couldn’t see her reflection. Instead, she saw the twins. Believing she had lost her mind, she approached in their direction, but they disappeared. Instead she saw her reflection, but not as she was at the moment, she saw her reflection bleeding due to a deep wound. She thought she had lost her mind. That couldn’t be happening, any of that could be actually happening, so she turned to run away, but when she did, her son appeared right in front of her, holding a bloody sharp knife, the knife that was used to kill her husband, the father of her twins. The boy didn’t lose any time, he stabbed her in the stomach at that second and just

watched her bleeding until her last breath, with a smile on his face. The other twin appeared also with a smile on his face. They both started to laugh and celebrate their victory. Now, they were all alone in the house with the dead spirits. Now, they were free to do what they wanted to. Both were boys for the rest of the eternity, now they would be able to haunt everybody and everywhere forever.

DEAL WITH THE DEVIL ‘She's in a better place now, honey’ said Emily's uncle, trying to stay strong while tears rolled over the girl’s cheeks. She couldn’t say a word, she still couldn’t believe it: 24 hours ago, her sister was still alive, having a great night, like nothing was ever going to ruin it. Everything happened so fast: everyone thought she was having fun at the club, with the guy she met and was really into. No one expected to find her dead body the next morning, with a bullet hole on her chest. Now, there she was: at her 20 years old sister’s funeral, watching her being buried in a deep hole. Under the ground. There she was. She would never see her sister again. Emily couldn ´t stop thinking about it: she was so devastated she didn’t notice the strange man who was standing near the place, staring at them. She cried the whole way home and the man was still following them, but no one seemed to be able to see him. When they arrived, they were surprised by a tall and scary person in their driveway. His eyes were completely black, and he appeared to have more teeths than a normal person. He looked dead, but he could speak: - Greetings. I’m sorry about her. She shouldn’t have gotten involved that much. The family was petrified, especially Emily since she was really close to her sister but had never seen that man before, or heard her talking about him.

- Who… what are you? - Emily asked, seriously - And involved in what? - I... am someone you’ve never met, and never will. Farewell - And he left, mysteriously. Inside the house, Emily decided to search her sister’s rooms for anything that could possibly answer who that man was. She searched on the bed, the desk, the closet, and was almost giving up when she remembered that her sister had a little bed table near the door. She quickly opened all the drawers and found nothing. Already leaving the room, she looked back just to analyze the room, remembering the moments she spent there with her sister. She could still see herself and her sis laying on that bed reading gossip magazines. They used to stay there for hours. She took a look around and saw a small envelope suspended on the bottom of the picture frame. She pulled it out and a lot more envelopes started to fall on the ground. With a strange look in her face, she took the painting off wall and supported it in the bed with the back up. There were a lot of letters there, all addressed to a man named Patrick Norton. She

Y8 - CLASS A- GROUP 2 - STORY 5

was surprised because they had a wonderful relationship, yet she had never heard of this man, they seemed pretty close but at a certain date the number of letter drops immensely and her sister appeared to be scared and the most recent the letter got the most desperate the girl seemed, the last letter was just three words “please help me”. She didn’t know what to think, what could her sister possible know? Who was that guy in the letters? Why did she needed help? Emily was determined to find out what killed her sister. She decided to start a research about this man, and discovered that he was the boss of a drug cartel in Mexico, and recently, a girl had entered in the group. It must be her sister. Emily knew that her sister was an addicted to pot, but she kept the secret because she loved her. Unfortunately, now was the time to tell her mother about what she knew, and try to get revenge for her sister, by killing her murder. In that night, during the dinner, Emily decided to start talking, and told everything she knew to the parents. The reaction wasn't good, and they were very disappointed with the situation. While this conversation was happening, they didn’t realize that they were being watched by a man with a black coat and a hat outside the window, hearing everything. Suddenly, a noise of steps in the grass called the attention of the family. The parents went out to see what was going on, and Emily stayed in the house. When the adults were outside, a scream of terror took place in the house. They went back running, and when opened the door, the body of Emily was in the ground, involved with blood, and next to her, there was a piece of paper, written with big blood letters “SHE SHOULDN’T HAVE DONE THIS”. Their parents were scared. They started to investigate this drug cartel. The father called the police and 3 months later, he got a call: -Hello! Is the sheriff. We found out who killed your daughter. Fast, the parents went to the precinct. The police discovered that the same person killed Emily and her sister, but they couldn't discover who was. They went back home very sad. It was late night, so they laid in their bad and, in the next day, they were dead, and the only thing with their bodies was a little note: “YOU'LL BE THE NEXT”.

The basement

It was a typical summer night clear sky and lots of bright shining stars. I was coming back home after a good, stressless working day. I just wanted to take a cold shower to refresh myself, relax and get sleep as much as possible. However, when I arrived back home, I noticed, a white envelope under the door. That was something rather unusual. Who would do such a thing? What would it be? Since I am curious, I decided to open the white envelope. Inside of it, there was a letter; it was a note from my grandpa. He was telling me that he needed some help. He asked me to go to his cottage as soon as possible. It was far away. It was the old place where he lived. I got worried for such a notice. So on the next day, I arranged everything so that I could get out of work earlier and stay with him for a week. The weather was insane: there were storms and lightnings all over the sky, but I couldn´t bail on my grandfather. So, I picked my car and started to drive. I had to take a long road to get to the farm and cottage. I arrived there after three hours on the highway and when I saw the house where I had grown up in, all memories appeared again. I decided to enter the house, so I knocked and waited for my grandpa to answer. I waited around five minutes for someone to come, but nobody answered. I started to get anxious, nervous and worried, so I opened the door and entered the old cottage. I looked for someone nobody could give me any answers on where my grandfather was, but all I could listen was the cracking of the wood. For every step I led, the noise would follow me. Suddenly, the wind opened a window and knocked over an old portrait. I got really scared and went to pick the portrait off the floor. But as soon as I saw the picture, I noticed that there was something wrong. It was a picture of my grandmother, who I had never met, because she had died 3 years before I was born. But that was not what really shocked me, but the fact that, in the picture, she was holding a baby. And the baby was me! How could that be?I couldn't move. I was petrified. The first thing that popped on my head was to take the picture out of the portrait and keep it with me. I was really scared, but I still needed to find my grandfather, so, with the picture in my pocket, but trying to forget all about it since my priority was getting to find my grandpa, I kept walking through the main passageway which led to my grandpa’s room... The closer I got to the room, the bigger a bad feeling grew of inside me: Something was not quite right. When I finally arrived there, I knocked on the old wooden door

Y8 - CLASS A - GROUP II - STORY 6

A weak voice from inside said, ‘Come in, I am waiting for you.’. With my heart on my hands, I opened the door and as the letter revealed, he was very sick. Grandpa was pale and it looked like he hadn’t slept for ages. We started talking and I noticed that he was very hoarse. So, to not harm even more his throat, I said it would be better for him to sleep but before that I offered myself to make him a hot cup of tea.He accepted it and I went to the kitchen. There, I started getting the kettle, water and then looking for ingredients to prepare some tea. But, when I opened the cupboard, everything there fell on me. So, I bent down to get everything and put them back in the place. Fortunately, only two plates had broken. I picked the pieces of the first one, wrapped in paper for no one to get cut, and put it in the trash. The second one was different. It had broken into two halves, and when I picked it from the floor, I saw something reflected by the glass piece of the plate: a woman. An old woman with grey hair, cold blue deep eyes. I recognized her. She was the old lady from the picture my grandmother. I thought i was getting mad and it was all in my head, it had been a really hard day, I must´ve been dreaming. I finished cleaning everything and went to my grandfather’s room to give him the tea. After he had the tea, he started to sleep. Then I decided to enter the room next door to take a little nap as well. However, I couldn’t close my eyes: I was afraid and too curious. I concluded that I wouldn’t be able to sleep unless I received some answers to so many questions of mine. So, I went back to my grandfather’s room. When I got there, he was awake and I told him the whole story, since I saw the portrait until the “kitchen’s episode”. When I finished, his expression changed completely, from calm to mad. He picked me by my wrist and he started dragging me to the basement. When we got there, the only thing that I could see was the old lady in the kitchen. After that, he said ‘I am sorry, but you know way too much...” And after hearing those words, it all turned too dark. I don't remember anything that comes after this. Actually, I'm not quite sure there was something else.About ten years have passed by, but nothing much has changed here. The only thing you must know, I still live in my grandpa´s cottage. I wrote you a little note today. When you get back home, you´ll see a white envelope that´s telling all the informations you need to know to get here.Come soon. I need your help.

SCREAMS FROM THE LAKE It was the springtime _ a sunny beautiful day. The Hannes family had decided to go on a trip to lake Bled. Before they got out the home the mother decided to call the police for help, she said “They are coming to help us”. Suddenly, the young little girl, Nicole, woke up with a loud noise: something big had fallen in the lake. Nicole went to look for her mom. Her mother was not in the hut anymore, so the young girl got terrified. A few hours passed, and her mother hadn´t arrived yet. All of a sudden, she heard the steps on the wet grass, outside the hut: it was her mother, running right to the lake. Nicole left the hut to talk to her mother and, when she went outside, she found her mother holding a body. The young girl wouldn´t believe her eyes. Her mother was carrying a dead body. Nicole’s brother’s dead body. The mother couldn’t stop crying, but there was something else on her mind. The father, he hadn’t returned home yet. Y8 - CLASS A - GROUP 2 - STORY 8

barbekill I

Do you like barbecue? Most people do. I know a story of a guy who loved it more than his own life , and for our sadness, he used to do a very strange type of barbecue. Raphael was a typical american wha was a meat-lover. In his 25th birthday, his father, William, offered to buy everything for the special event party, so he went to the newest butchery near his house to buy some good amount of fresh meat for the barbecue moment. Hours had already gone, and William, the father hadn´t come back, so Raphael decided to go there and see what was going on. When he got to the butchery, he asked a strong, wellbuilt tall man if an old man had been there a couple hours ago. The man answered: ‘No one has visited the place today’. While this conversation was going on, Raphael didn’t realize that there was strong smell of fresh blood coming from the kitchen, and a strange, large juicy piece of fresh meat was suspended on the top of the door. Besides being worried about his dad, before leaving the butchery, the boy decided to take some fresh juicy meat in case his father´d had any problem on his way back home. Some of his family of friends and relatives had already arrived at his house but his father wasn’t back yet. As everybody was starving, Raphael started cooking the meat. Hours later, the barbecue was over, and everybody had loved the steak Raphael had chosen. The boy got the best compliments as ‘the youngest barbecue man on the block’. Raphael tried his best to disguise his worries and despair while missing his dad.

Worried, Raphael left on the cold, dark night to search for his father. He looked for him in the entire hood, but there was no sign of him. ‘Where are you’ he prayed. After more than three hours of searching in many streets, Raphael´s body was losing to exhaustion and he could no longer continue unless he took a break to rest a bit. On his way back home, he passed in front of the butchery. But now, it was no longer the place that he had gone hours before: the place was very dark, but, because of a lightning, he saw an lonely arm, pale and dead that dropped on the floor. Raphael was petrified. He had just realized that arm belonged to his father .He couldn't believe everything that was going on. His father. Dead. “Is this a nightmare?” He thought to himself. It was not. Raphael ran out of that place of horror and called the police, in tears: “My father… He is dead… Please come to the…” but the call failed. Raphael looked at his phone: out of service. All of a sudden, Raphael heard noises coming from the butchery. The lights turned on. He looked at the store and saw the big, tall butcher grabbing the arm and going to the freezer. Raphael couldn’t do anything: there he was, standing in the street, watching a psycho monster with the arm of his dead father. Scared and realising how dangerous it could be staying there, Raphael got his car and drove back home. When he got there, the first thing he did was to call the cops again: “My father... he was murdered. I don’t know who killed him, but I saw his dead body at the butchery at 666, on the 13th street. Please go, check and go fast.” When the cops arrived at the butchery, Raphael was there too. They saw the big, tall, well-built man and immediately ran over him.

Some cops started asking him questions while others, were looking for the body of a man. But he was nowhere to be found. All over the place, there were pieces of meat and some animal blood, at least they thought it was animal blood. But without the corpse it was impossible to prove what Raphael had seen. The cops advised him to go home and get some rest. They would continue to look for his father, but there was nothing else that they could do. Raphael couldn’t stop thinking about his father. At the moment every policeman was gone, it was when the brave young man broke the main window and went into the butchery. He opened the door and turned the lights on. The room was very clean. There was no spots of blood there. Where was all of the blood he had seen before? The police had already searched the whole room and they could find nothing, but he couldn’t stop feeling that something was wrong. He decided to enter the freezer. The only place the police hadn’t searched: the butcher said that if they entered there, all the meat could turn rotten because of the freezing temperature needed. So they didn’t enter the freezer. But Raphael did. He slowly pushed the door open. A horrible smell came out of the dark freezer. It was the same smell of blood. Of course, it could have come out of the meats, but he didn’t think so. Despite the fact he was scared, he wanted to know the real truth about his father disappearance. He grabbed a flashlight he had with himself and entered. The walls were painted in blood. He looked around and saw something very odd: a leg. It seemed like a leg of a human, but it could´ve been from a big animal. He didn’t know anymore.

But then, all of his doubts were answered. Pushing away a translucent curtain, he saw just what would lead him to his own doom. His father’s watch, one that he would never take out. To the left, he wouldn´t dare looking at it. It was definitely a place of horror. Raphael was scared. That was enough. But while he was running to the exit, the door suddenly closed. He could only hear the butcher saying “How was the barbecue?” before the cold took over his body. He turned around and saw a boy laying on the floor. It took some time for him to realize what had just happened but as soon as he did, he saw it was himself and became terrified. The boy didn't know what to do or where to go. He started to cry… A long, deep cold cry. Until he heard a smooth soft calm voice, his father’s, his dead father.
