MEET THE DIRECTORS Alicia Zeigler Director of Columbia Style Week A native of New York, at 3 years of age, Alicia Zeigler was signed and working through Sunshine Talent Agency in Manhattan. She auditioned and modeled for clients that included Bradlees, Zares, Mrs. Butterworth, Teddy Ruxpin, “Sesame Street” and more. Additionally, Zeigler learned ballet and African dance studying under Broadway performer, Wilhelmena Taylor, at Mind Builders Creative Arts Center in the Bronx. At 24 years old, Alicia started Fortress Fashion Shows and organized her first fashion show for Sister Care of Columbia. During the process, she rediscovered her love for art and fashion. While producing the shows and meeting aspiring models in Columbia, she realized that there was a need for talent management. Consequently, Zeigler was inspired to become the founder and operator of FFS Model and Talent Agency (FFS MATA) in Columbia, S.C. FFS MATA works to assist models through professional development and grooming, booking legitimate and safe jobs, portfolio building, and refining acting and auditioning skills. Currently, FFS MATA boasts over 60 working actors and models, hiring talent and securing auditions for feature films movies, television shows, international brands and fashion shows: “Army Wives,” “Good Deeds,” “Graceland,” “Eastbound and Down,” “WWE,” “Witness Protection,” “Ecoloblue,” “Homeland,” “Little Red Wagon,” “For Colored Girls,” “Sleeping Around,” Budweiser, Magnum ice cream, Charleston Fashion Week, Charlotte NC Fashion Week, Charlotte Seen Fashion Week, Columbia Style Week, Swim Week and many others. Not to mention local boutiques and businesses, this Columbia fashion wunderkind has provided local models with an opportunity to actually book paying jobs in the field they love. Equally important, the talent agency owner also uses her influence and position to give back to the community, by donating and raising funds and awareness of various local non-profit organizations through her fashion shows and events. Some organizations helped include American Heart Association - Midlands, Sistercare, Harvest Hope, The Food Boutique and Clothed in Hope. In January of 2011, Zeigler acquired “Wink,” a digital women’s fashion magazine. A finalist in the Digital Magazine Awards in 2010, “Wink” was the first to provide beauty and fashion tips, news and event coverage for a demographic of women in Columbia who previously did not have a publication exclusively geared toward them. Taking the magazine from digital to print and from a quarterly to monthly publication, Zeigler has more than tripled the readership in less than a year. Likewise, as an official media sponsor for events such as the Women in Philanthropy’s Power of the Purse, Charleston Eco9

Fashion, Charlotte NC Fashion Week and Columbia Style Week, Zeigler hopes to take “Wink” from a local to a national media outlet within the next three years. Meanwhile, in all of her networking, Zeigler founded the Columbia Fashion Alliance (CFA), which is a network of varied fashion professionals working together to increase the fashion presence in the city of Columbia. Without delay, two major events, to be held annually, were planned and, subsequently, scheduled: the CFA Career Fair, a beauty and fashion professionals career, and Columbia Style Week, Columbia’s first official fashion week. Columbia Style Week (CSW) launched in June 2012, bringing the city its first ever five days and five nights fashion week. The style week consisted of fashion, arts, live entertainment and a fashion panel. Moreover, the mayor of Columbia and the city council recognized the inaugural event by awarding it a proclamation. Furthermore, Audi Columbia, “Columbia Metropolitan Magazine,” 104.7 WNOK radio, and several other prominent companies sponsored the weeklong event. CSW took Columbia by storm and, finally, established the capital city as an emerging presence in the Southeast fashion industry. Named one of Columbia’s “25 Most Stylish People” in 2011 and “10 Most Fascinating People” in 2012. Zeigler is considered by many as one to watch in 2013. Most recently, Zeigler was named as one of the “SouthEast Small Business Magazine’s” “30 Top Women of Influence” While the up-and-coming fashion-mogul has her hands full with various projects and leading several companies, above all she always remembers that she has absolutely nothing without her Father in heaven who has blessed her life tremendously. As an illustration, she is happily married to Alerick Zeigler, who is the owner of The Zeigler Agency, co-director of Columbia Style Week and the chief financial officer of her businesses. After serving five years on active duty and three years in the Army Reserves, Zeigler was honorably discharged from service but continued to serve his country as a Department of Defense contractor on Fort Jackson for the next five years. It was during this time that he and his wife, Alicia Zeigler, founded FFS Model and Talent Agency. Before long the agency held its first “inhouse” show at the South Carolina State Museum in 2008. MEET THE TEAM Shawn Bell FOH Director As a native of Columbia, S.C., Shawn Bell hasn’t always claimed the city. In fact, since she was old enough to, she has been running from it. For a while, Bell struggled to free herself from the city she thought was limiting; Traveling and relocating to other places she thought would offer her the greatest form of life. Yet year after year, relocation after relocation, the city never released her from its grip. Then one day it all changed as she began to discover its unique beauty, through a shared love for art and all such things. Only then would she promise her city to use her travels to bring knowledge and insight back, and, then, apply it to her city. Social Media Links: Twitter: @ShawnBell_ IG: shawnbell_ FB: Shawn Bell

Often known as the “event producer” among family and friends, Bell’s creative side flourishes because of her travels and from the many books she enjoys reading. Unsurprisingly, Bell has an enduring dream of one day being the mysterious face behind the Grammys, making the name – Shawn Bell – a household brand. Correspondingly, Bell believes that her studies at the Johnson & Wales University Sports, Entertainment and Event Management program will be the catalyst for reaching that goal. When Bell is not brainstorming event plans, she enjoys playing with her small four-legged first baby, aptly named Ny’Omi Campbell. Bell also has a major “crush” on live events. From jazz to hip-hop to gospel, Bell truly enjoys being entertained. Bell said, “My goal for this life is simply to keep the party going!”

MEET THE TEAM Carrisa Strickland Volunteer/Internship Coordinator An honor student, math whiz and political-science junkie are not the typical words one would use to describe a “fashionista.” However, they are the very words that have described Carissa Strickland for most of her life. No one would ever imagine that Strickland would go against her grain to become the trendsetter that she is today. Her closeted love for fashion took over, and she hasn’t turned back. Not totally ignoring her book-smarts, Strickland, who often goes by “Clo,” decided that she would turn her passion for fashion into a profitable empire. Thus, became M2, a haven for premium fashion that is everything hip and contemporary. M2 started in 2006 in Strickland’s small living room in her apartment in New Jersey, offering juniors apparel solely online. However, as the demand for her products increased, she opened her first boutique in Atlanta, Ga. Then, after relocating to South Carolina, Strickland opened the boutique in the Vista, Columbia’s nightlife and entertainment district. Now, M2 resides off of Two Notch Road. “Clo” and M2 are quickly climbing the social ranks in Columbia and justifiably so. Her warm-spirited nature is felt as soon as you enter the boutique, usually turning visitors into repeat clients. “My goal is to bring styles that are unique, fresh, funky and beautiful to Columbia,” Strickland said. “M2 is definitely going to make its mark.” This year, the boutique has planned a fashion show called “All Aboard Fashion,” which will occur during a five-day Bahamian cruise from October 23 to 28.

MEET THE DESIGNER BIANCA LöREN Growing up in the small town of Luling, Texas, browsing fashion magazines and sketching designs became a past time for Bianca Miles, head designer of BIANCA LöREN. Miles created her first catalog, a compilation of designs that far surpassed the abilities of the average 11-year-old from a small town of less than 5,000 people. Seeking professional mentorship in design Miles enrolled at the University of North Texas and graduated with a degree in fashion merchandising. After graduating Miles relocated to Atlanta, Ga. in 2011 to embark upon the journey of becoming an astounding fashion designer. Shortly after moving to Atlanta, Miles met Maranda Butler while working at a high fashion retail store. Butler, a University of Georgia Southern graduate with a degree in public relations/marketing, was drawn to Miles’ original designs and keen eye for fashion after Miles made a custom bow-tie dress for Butler. Working in various internships and with various music artists has allowed Butler to hone her skills in event planning, graphic design and writing. Butler took on the “unofficial” role of Miles’ manager seeking to attract clientele for Miles. They began working with a number of local clients, creating custom women garments and unisex bow ties made with chains. Seeing the positive reception of their original designs, in late 2012 Miles and Butler united their respective fields of fashion and public relations cohesively to form BIANCA LöREN. BIANCA LöREN has most notably worked with Def Jam/G.O.O.D Music recording artist Cyhi the Prynce furnishing a bow tie for his music video “Out All Night.” Designed for trendsetters that are innovative and daring yet refined; BIANCA LöREN is for the woman who appreciates original quality products made from luxurious fabrics, such as suede, silk, velvet and leather. BIANCA LöREN puts a high-fashion twist on unconventional fabrics and designs. Transitioning from custom wear to a full-fledged clothing line, BIANCA LöREN is in the process of designing their first official Spring 2014 line. With nothing to lose but everything to prove, BIANCA LöREN is confident that they have the talent and drive to deliver cutting-edge designs. Setting a new standard for the often-overlooked Southern fashion, they are positioned to play among fashion heavy hitters. Most may feel like fashion only exists in New York or L.A., but Bianca Miles says, “Fashion transpires from your heart with no geographical limitations. The passion to create, to design truly comes from within.” BIANCA LöREN seeks to create a new standard for fashion in Atlanta and abroad.

MEET THE DESIGNER Belindabilly Belinda Paige Blakley was born in 1986 in Iowa City, Iowa. She began designing clothing with the instruction of her father at an early age. In 2010 she graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) with a concentration in fashion design and fiber and materials studies. While at school, Belinda was surprised to find her passion laid in the fiber department, where she experimented with new textures and screen-printing and researched the history of women’s labor as it related to homemaking and domestic textiles, such as embroideries and making clothing. As a self-identified feminist, Blakely has always found the feminine form something to be celebrated rather than hidden; this idea is the foundation of her design process, and she always strives to create interesting clothing for “real women” that is wearable and flattering. Belinda founded Belindabilly while still in college and created her first two seasonal collections during her last year there. Belinda’s sophomore garment in the SAIC annual fashion show was reviewed by the “Chicago” magazine and received honorable mention in the scholarship competition. Belinda currently lives in Raleigh, N.C., with her husband Chris. She serves on the fashion committee for Appetite for Art, an annual fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Carolina, and participates in several benefit fashion shows including the first Couture for a Cause in 2009 and Dance For Liberation’s La Vie in 2011, benefiting Arts Access Inc. Raleigh. You can visit us online at www.belindabilly.com.

MEET THE DESIGNER Tarragon V While attending the University of South Carolina, Lance took classes from the theater, retail and arts departments building the courses that would give her what she wanted and for which she didn’t want to wait. Furthermore, Lance took basic sewing, studied garment construction in London and had internships, one for which she styled bands and the other for which she worked closely with a technical designer in New York. Three years later, Lance is currently working on sharing her passion. “I am the product of mostly trial and error,” Lance said. “My work area is over taking my apartment’s living room. [So,] I am currently looking for studio space to share or have sponsored. I spend my time thinking of ways [to give] life to [the] vision that was given to me. I love setting atmospheres and painting pictures for people via my words or showing them through clothes.” Therefore, Lance uses fashion shows opportunities as a method to measure her growth and to see how much closer she is to her goals. “Eras inspire me. I have learned that you can get pretty creative while expressing what the past and future looks like now according to you,” Lance said. “I do a lot out of necessity. I have been poured into by some of the greats within this industry and the adjacent industry, beauty. They work hand in hand for myself as an entrepreneur.” Lance’s mentor, a nonrelated yet related designer, given her fabric and notions that still speaks into her life when she is off her rockers. Likewise, Lance acknowledged the investment she has already made into her but realizes that it will take a lot more if she is going to continue. “I am learning you have got to believe in yourself and never hold the gift higher than the giver of the gift,” Lance said. “The person I design for is real and is not afraid to express it; they live unapologetically being true to themselves, which is always in season.” This collection is titled Bondage. Only you can take the limits off; they are all in your mind. Unlearn the old way of thinking, be renewed and trained in a new way.

MEET THE DESIGNER Kid Slick KidSlick was birthed in the heart of filmmaker and chief executive officer of Fisher Films, Daniel Fisher. Fisher’s love of film and costumes in conjunction with a chance encounter with a woman selling purses out of her car triggered his love for fashion. Fisher had very little knowledge of the fashion world, but he was intrigued after seeing the woman sell her handmade purses from her trunk. Fisher, who has long been inspired by Walt Disney and the notion of dreams coming true, he presented the idea to one of his good friends, Gigi LaBord, who had been caught by the love of fashion at an early age. For LaBord sewing and the artistry of clothing design and craftsmanship had been passed down for several generations. At that time, she was expressing her love of fashion through her fashion blog “Miss Fancy Threads.” The two discussed the idea for almost a year. It was not until after Daniel’s film company shot a music video for the band Cherry Case entitled “War Song” that the idea for the KidSlick Patriot Collection came about, and the dream of KidSlick began to take life. The video involved 18th century garments. The hard work that it took to have the garments crafted for the shoot gave Daniel an even greater appreciation for the art of fashion design. He wanted that type of thought and skill to be a part of the KidSlick credo. Since then The KidSlick Patriot line has been in full force and will premier this season at Columbia Style Week in Columbia, S.C. The KidSlick Patriot collection embodies the ideas, dreams, experiences and beliefs of Fisher and LaBord as you will see hints of both of their aesthetics in the garments: his love for a great polo and her love for a great feminine military jacket. The KidSlick Patriot collection speaks to the love of heritage, country, dreams, ideals and craftsmanship that both Fisher and LaBord possess. KidSlick is youthful with a nod to heritage. It invites its wearer to take notes from the old while embracing their individuality in the new. Fisher and LaBord have set the stage for a long beautiful run in the fashion industry, and they are ready for the world to experience what KidSlick has in store.

MEET THE DESIGNER Rutu Bhonsle Rutu Bhonslé is a unique line of women’s clothing created by Rutu Bhonslé. The name of the line roots from the designer’s one-of-a-kind name Rutuparna Bhonslé. Born in the city of Nagpur, India, Bhonslé’s admiration for fashion began at the ripe young age of 22 that grew with him through his life. Being the spontaneous nomad that he was, he began to travel to many places to satisfy his desire for diversity. After journeying to London, Paris, Stockholm, Southeast Asia and New York, Bhonslé found the diversity for which he was searching. After seeing the fashion in these cities, he realized that fashion was not merely about clothing and accessories, but that it began from within the individual. Bhonslé often reminds his clients and models that “fashion begins within” during consultations and before shows. He also believes that “fashion is not a luxury but instead a lifestyle.” The line has been featured in trunk and fashion shows throughout Lexington. The Rutu Bhonslé styling boutique will be opening very soon in Lexington. The diversity of Rutu Bhonslé will be displayed through the creation of his latest collection. You can visitt us online at www.RutuBhonsle.com.

MEET THE DESIGNER Luis Machicao Luis Machicao grew up with one thing on his mind: fashion; however, it wasn’t until the age of 20 that he actively began to pursue his dream. Machicao began his career in Peru by enrolling into The School of Dramatic Arts where he received his education. Later, he decided to move to another school and began to study fashion design at a local fashion institute where he graduated with honors. Afterward, he enrolled into the university to study sociology; he believed that fashion is a social manifestation of the human being. After four years at the university, he flew to Paris where he knew he could complete his education with experience. It was in Paris that everything came together, and Machicao perfected dressing people from head to toe in good taste. Later, when Machicao returned to Peru, he began designing costumes for TV, including miniseries and soap operas, and for theater. He was, then, hired for the first lady to serve his country with his impeccable taste. He also dressed other celebrities and socialites. While working for his country, he began to show his collections in fashion shows. It was here that he found his passion – runway! Soon, Machicao began to show his collections internationally, which lead him to move to the United States. Since his arrival, he has presented his collections in cities, such as Houston, Austin, San Francisco, Miami, Charlotte, New Orleans, Washington, D.C. and, now, New York, where he will show his Spring/Summer 2014 collection at New York Fashion Week. In addition, he has shown his collections internationally in Milan, Paris and Barcelona. However, Luis’ talent doesn’t stop on the runway or behind the screen. Besides being involved in costume design, image consulting and pageant dressmaking, Machicao has also made feature film appearances like the recently released “Hunger Games” - which featured Donald Sutherland - as one of the Capitol’s residents, a city known for its fashion and food. Additionally, Machicao, the top designer in Charlotte, N.C., has been interviewed in 250 publications, has participated in 700 fashion shows and has sold his designs internationally. This September he will be launching his perfume for men and women, making him the only Carolinian designer with a fragrance.

DJ T.Mobile Biography DJ T.Mobile has been touching the lives of others through the music that he is given. DJ T.Mobile has had a journey that is not like any other. After starting his path at Claflin University in his hometown of Orangeburg, SC after two (2) years he decided to attend the University of South Carolina. While attending South Carolina he met with a fellow hometown native DJ Frosty. So like most college students in need of some income he began assisting in promoting parties and events for DJ Frosty doing things from setting up equipment to collecting admission fees to various events. While finishing up one night of a successful event with DJ Frosty and DJ Bill Black, of then Hot 103.9fm in Columbia, decided to change his name to a more club friendly name and T.Mobile was born. To him it fit because of the first initial name of his name being “T” and the ability to be in so many places DJ T.Mobile has been one of the young visionaries in derived the name “Mobile”. While promoting the various Columbia for 9 years. events for DJ Frosty he began learning how to setup turntables along with sound and lighting equipment while acting as the hypeman for DJ Frosty. From there DJ T.Mobile began listening to the way DJ Frosty would mix songs together while taking the request from the audience and relay that information to DJ Frosty. Following that path DJ T.Mobile began to open shows and concerts in which DJ Frosty would headline. Among those included shows for Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Ciara, T.I., and Ricky Smiley to name just a few. After graduating from USC T.Mobile decided to pursue being a DJ full time. Starting with small intimate settings such as school functions, wedding receptions, family, and class reunions gave him the confidence to cater to various crowds between the ages of 5 years of age to 85. While still perfecting his craft DJ T.Mobile began showcasing his talents more around the state by working at some of the colleges that included his alma mater the University of South Carolina, South Carolina State University, Clemson University, and Claflin University. DJ T.Mobile later began headlining concerts on his own opening up for artist such as Yung Joc, Travis Porter, Carl Thomas, Common, & Wu-Tang Clan and events such as Vista Lights, North Carolina A&T Homecoming Greek Step show, MA Lee Scholarship Celebrity basketball game and Winthrop University Homecoming. In this day in age social networking is a very powerful tool for individuals to reach fans and supporters young and old. With the help of sites such as facebook and twitter DJ T.Mobile has shown consistent growth in reaching out to as many as 5000+ friends and 2400 followers.
