These premium quality homes are priced from $499,000. Outside, the resort has an alpine theme. Inside, buyers can choose to go either rustic or contemporary. “We recognize that tastes differ,” says Mr. Dick. “We’re finding that people really appreciate being given the choice.”

Half of the 400 town homes in the resort will be eligible to join the pool. Phase II comprises 50 building lots and an additional 60 town homes. The lots were released in two phases starting in Spring 2008 with 40 lots averaging 8,000 square feet and having a variety of exposures. Ten ridge lots backing onto Toby Creek and averaging a quarter acre in size will be released in Fall 2008. The town homes will be released in 2009. The Phase II lots are almost 50 percent sold. “We are very pleased with the response to Pineridge Mountain Resort,” says Mr. Dick. “The town homes are in demand and there’s a lot of interest in the lots.” Prices range from $119,900 for a cottage lot (nestled in the trees), and from $200,000 for a lot with sweeping views of the Rocky Mountains. There is no building commitment and buyers can use any builder they wish. The architectural controls in place stipulate an alpine theme. There will be a concierge service and a full-time events coordinator. Residents of all ages will enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities and family outings. Things to know about commuting to the cabin By Pioneer Staff The drive from Banff to Radium is one of the most beautiful in the world. The highway is wide and smooth, unlike some others in the province, and Parks Canada maintains the road very well. But here are a few facts that you might find helpful on your next trip: • If you want to check road conditions before you leave, call the Parks Canada Road Report line in Banff at (403) 762-1450. • Make sure you fill up before you leave your home or cabin, because there are no service stations in Banff or Kootenay National Parks. If you’re running short, there is a gas station just off the Trans-Canada at Castle Mountain Chalets, at the junction with Highway 93. Not visible from the road, it’s located on the north side of the overpass. • There is no public bathroom at the park entrance near Radium, so don’t

wait for a last-minute stop. • The Kootenay Park Lodge Visitor Centre is 45 minutes north of Radium, and here paying customers can have a bathroom break, buy snacks and view some interpretive displays. There’s no gas for sale, however, and the centre isn’t open in winter. • There are several outdoor toilets throughout the parks, but only one fullservice public bathroom with flush toilets: at the Kootenay Crossing warden’s station, located in a small cluster of buildings on the north side of the highway. • There are no fewer than 11 picnic sites along the 94-kilometre trip from Castle Mountain to Radium. Take a picnic and stop at one of these lovely spots along the way. Paint Pots is a fun place for the kids. Marble Canyon has reopened after the forest fire of 2004. Olive Lake has a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk. Plan to visit them all.
