SHORT-TERM PROGRAMS Faculty-led programs integrate one- to two-week travel components into semester-long courses taught at CCAD. Travel occurs during a regularly scheduled break or at the end of the semester. SEMESTER-LONG PROGRAMS Faculty-led programs give students a full semester of off-campus study. CCAD-approved programs are semester-long opportunities administered by a host institution, are designed specifically for CCAD students, and are taught in English. Some take place during the academic year, others during the summer. Exchange programs let students fully immerse themselves in a host school and its culture. Domestic exchanges are offered through CCAD’s membership in the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design.

PRACTICUMS Employers want to hire graduates who have practical experiences and who have proven their talents in a professional setting. Students want to show the results of those experiences in their creative work and portfolios. Practicums provide needed experience so that students can develop work that aligns with their career goals. Although the opportunities are different for each major, 12 credit hours of practicum experience are required. Practicum experiences include internships, coops, work on real art and design projects through our CCAD MindMarket, Honors Program events, service learning, and even off-campus study.

On-campus housing provides a safe oasis in the center of a vibrant city. At CCAD, we have two options available for all students: Design Square Apartments and Schottenstein Residence Hall. Many of our upper-level students live in adjacent districts, where housing is affordable, even in the hippest of areas.

On or off campus, you’ll eat like a foodie. Our dining hall is beautiful—and the food is seriously delicious. Busy? You can grab a smoothie or swing through our in-and-out option on the way to your studio. And we’re pretty much in the heart of a gourmet city, where you’ll find more than 50 food trucks prowling around the streets, even in the middle of the night.

Campus life is hopping. Movies on the lawn, long nights in the labs, Skype sessions with big-time alums—you’ll hardly have time to sit for coffee in the student center. The energy at CCAD is catching. Student-led exhibitions happen all over campus, all the time. Off campus, you’ll find galleries, museums, and creative industries all within walking or biking distance.

CCAD MINDMARKET The CCAD MindMarket enhances students’ growth through real-world, hands-on experiences and unique curricular and co-curricular learning opportunities. The transformative project based learning model prepares CCAD graduates to be leaders in art and design. There are four areas of focus: Partnerships Students have the chance to engage in multiplediscipline teams with captains of industry through a variety of corporate and non-corporate partnerships. These projects which offer real problems to solve, working under real deadlines, for real clients are as close to real-world experiences as can be simulated, but are run within the safe confines of the college under the expert guidance of our talented CCAD faculty. Student Design Agency Students from all majors apply and the most talented are hired to work for the CCAD Student Design Agency. While at the agency, students are engaged in projects that come into the CCAD MindMarket from internal offices and departments, as well as from external clients. Students also explore a variety of leadership roles.

CAREER SERVICES What’s your dream job? It may be too soon to know, and that’s why the office of Career Services is here to empower students in identifying goals that yield rewarding career opportunities. We offer individual career advising appointments and specialized workshops to assist students in career planning and development, with topics that include resume and cover-letter writing, internship and job search strategies, interviewing skills, networking and more. We also leverage relationships with our robust network of industry experts to speak on topics from copyright law and contract negotiation to trends in creative recruiting. Our mission is to bridge connections between talented CCAD students and the employers who hire them. We host hundreds of employers at recruiting events each year, and provide students with the opportunity to network with employers at our fall Internship & Job Fair and at information

sessions within our ROC Show (Recruiting on Campus) series. During the annual Directions Career Fair in the spring, graduating seniors showcase samples of their work, portfolios, and presentation materials for employers to view as they recruit for full-time positions. CCAD’s career resources are many, and our online job board is no exception. Current students and alumni have access to a vast employment portal beginning their first year. Our online job board hosts on-campus employment opportunities that students can apply for beginning freshman year. Students and alumni may also search for freelance work, competitions, internships, volunteer opportunities, and part-time and full-time jobs. In addition, candidates can upload resumes and portfolio pieces, apply for positions, and contact potential employers.

Social Enterprise Beyond commercial projects, the CCAD MindMarket connects with community organizations and non-profit ventures. CCAD works with its students to identify non-profit organizations that support or solve social problems. Students can participate through projects that are a part of the curriculum or that are run through the CCAD MindMarket Student Agency. Programming The CCAD MindMarket offers a variety of curricular and co-curricular programming to its students, its alumni, and the Columbus community, to enhance business literacy and to foster and promote entrepreneurship. Topics of programming assist the creative community in their efforts to build entrepreneurial endeavors through business coaching, technical assistance, and business plan preparation. This support includes public presentations, workshops, events, co-working space, and one-on-one assistance.

This type of aid is considered aid you will not have to repay. Take note as to how you may qualify for these various types of grants and scholarships. CCAD Scholarships Each year, we award renewable scholarships to incoming students. These scholarships may be based on academic ability, evidence of creativity, and level of demonstrated interest in the college. CCAD will award institutional dollars to support scholarships for students who can demonstrate particular levels of engagement in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition, and National Art Honor Society. Students must submit documentation during the application process. External Scholarships A great number of organizations and agencies offer scholarships to students looking to attend college. It is important to explore all of the options that are out there. CCAD will recognize most external scholarships an applicant brings to the college, and a student’s financial aid package will be adjusted to accommodate any external scholarships. Ask your teachers, college counselors, and friends about resources to explore external scholarships. CCAD Grants CCAD offers a limited number of grants. These grants are based on the financial need calculated once a student has submitted their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)®.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) To be considered for an FSEOG, a student must fill out the FAFSA. Students who will receive Federal Pell Grants and have the most financial need are first priority for this grant.

At CCAD, we want every student to have an opportunity to pursue their passion, regardless of their means.

EMPLOYMENT & LOANS The types of aid listed below must be repaid. Take note of this type of aid because there are generally additional steps you’ll need to take to receive the support. Federal Perkins Loan The Federal Perkins Loan Program offers low-interest federal student loans to students who demonstrate exceptional financial need. CCAD awards renewable scholarships through this program, which means CCAD is the lender, and students make payments to CCAD or our loan servicer. Students are considered for this when they submit the FAFSA. Federal Direct Student Loan These federal student loans help cover the cost of higher education. The U.S. Department of Education offers eligible students at participating schools Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans—some people refer to these loans as Stafford Loans or Direct Stafford Loans. Students are considered for this when they submit the FAFSA®. Federal Direct Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) PLUS loans are federal loans that parents of dependent undergraduate students can use to help pay education expenses. The U.S. Department of Education makes Direct PLUS Loans to eligible borrowers through schools participating in the Direct Loan Program. Contact our Financial Aid office for more information. Alternative/Private Student Loans Private lenders can provide loans to fill gaps between a student’s financial aid package and their total educational costs. These loans can be used for more than just tuition, including expenses such as room and board, travel, off-campus study, computers, and art supplies. Contact our Financial Aid office for more information. Student Employment On-campus employment through the Federal WorkStudy (FWS) Program is part of many CCAD students’ financial aid packages. Students may work up to 15 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer and holiday breaks. Students are considered for this when they submit the FAFSA.

VETERANS’ BENEFITS CCAD is approved by the State Approving Agency and the Veterans Administration for educational benefits for veterans.

HOW TO APPLY FOR AID The FAFSA is the foundation of the financial aid process here at CCAD, and completing it is essential to receiving a formal financial aid package. We encourage all U.S. citizens and permanent residents (green card holders) to apply for financial aid using the FAFSA—unless you are sure you will be paying fully out of personal expenses. Complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.gov. Choose CCAD as a recipient of the results by using our FAFSA Code: 003039. That’s it, unless we contact you for more information.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AID International students (non-U.S. citizens or permanent residents/green card holders) enrich the CCAD learning and living communities. International applicants will be automatically considered for CCAD scholarship when they submit their application. However, CCAD is not able to award any other form of aid to international students. International students must realistically plan to meet their educational expenses throughout their academic career. A declaration of finances (demonstration of ability to pay) will be required for any international student who wishes to enroll at CCAD.
