How to Dress Well When It’s Too Hot Outside

Dressing for extremely hot weather is a challenge, but you can still look great by using a few valuable tips that are recommended by fashion experts. You might need to look fantastic at work, or perhaps, you need to make a good first impression during a job interview. You can plan ahead for the heat waves of summer by using these ideas.

Tip 1: Wear Loose Garments A hot summer day is not the best time to wear your skintight denim jeans. During a heat wave, you will want to keep cool by wearing loose garments that permit air to flow up your pant legs, skirt, dress or shirtsleeves. Make sure to wear garments that fit nicely so that you don’t look like a slob who is ready to relax on his couch. Remember that you must still choose clothing that covers your body so that you are dressed appropriately.

Tip 2: Avoid Wearing Multiple Layers Don’t try to wear multiple layers of clothing on a hot day, but do make sure to wear the appropriate undergarments. Avoid wearing a suit jacket or a vest over a shirt because you will swelter during a heat wave. To avoid having anyone seeing through your summer clothing, choose opaque fabrics. As you are buying a garment, place your hand behind one of its layers to determine if you can see it through the fabric. In the dressing room, you should look carefully to notice if you can see your skin underneath the dress, slacks or shirt.

Tip 3: Choose Natural Fibers Instead Of Man-made Fibers Natural fibers such as linen or cotton are cooler because the air circulates through the materials. However, if having wrinkled garments is a problem, then choose polyester blends that contain high levels of natural fibers. Read the labels on a garment to determine what its fiber content is before buying the item. Try to have at least two outfits for work that are made from natural fibers so that you are prepared for looking your best throughout a heat wave.

Tip 4: Leave the Accessories At Home Avoid wearing accessories on a hot day because you will begin to perspire. If you can avoid wearing hosiery, then wear sandals so that your feet aren’t covered. When you must wear hose or socks, find lightweight hosiery that has moisture-wicking fibers. Items such as scarves, neckties or belts will make you feel hotter, and you won’t have as much air circulating against your skin.

Tip 5: Keep Clothing Clean and Wrinkle-free It isn’t easy to keep clothing clean and wrinkle-free in the summer, so make sure to buy garments that are easy to wash and dry at the end of the day. In addition, natural fibers such as cotton or linen can develop deep wrinkles, so you should plan on ironing or steaming your clothing so that you still look fantastic.
