Welcome to Gamlingay Village Primary
We are delighted to introduce you to Gamlingay Village Primary, a proud member of The Cam Academy Trust. Our school is committed to fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment where excellence is not just a goal, but a standard we uphold for all our pupils, from pre-school through primary years.
At Gamlingay Village Primary, we believe in the potential of every child and strive to create a rich and engaging curriculum that challenges and inspires lifelong learners. We work closely with Everton Heath Primary School and Offord Primary School as part of the West Village Partnership, ensuring that our community of learners is supported and enriched by strong collaborative relationships.

Our son’s school life has got off to a fantastic start. School is a place where he feels safe, happy, confident and valued. – YEAR 2 PARENT, 2024
Our vision and values
Our ethos is simple: to do what is best for the children. We go the extra mile to ensure that each child receives the support and encouragement they need to thrive. Our core values are:
Respect: Cultivating a community where every individual is valued and respected.
Aspire: Encouraging children to set high goals and pursue their dreams with determination.
Grow: Providing opportunities for personal and academic growth in a nurturing environment.
Curriculum and learning
Thank you for what you have done to help my son have so much fun at GVP. From the nativity in reception, through to the residential in Year 6, he has had a brilliant 7 years here. Thank you for giving him such a great start to his education journey.
– YEAR 6 PARENT, 2024
Our curriculum is designed to be rich, engaging, and full of challenges that promote critical thinking and creativity.
We aim to develop lifelong learners who are prepared for the future with a strong foundation in core subjects as well as a broad array of extra-curricular activities.
Teaching and learning: Our dedicated educators employ innovative teaching methods to ensure that every child reaches their full potential. We emphasise strong professional development to keep our staff at the forefront of educational best practices.
Nurturing environment: We believe that a nurturing environment is key to a child’s success. Our classrooms are designed to be welcoming and supportive, encouraging pupils to explore and learn with confidence.
Parent partnership: We maintain an open door policy and actively seek to build strong partnerships with parents. Your involvement and feedback are crucial to our success.
Pre-school at Gamlingay Village Primary
Our pre-school programme provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for our youngest learners.
We focus on:
Early learning: Developing key skills through play-based and structured activities that promote cognitive, social and emotional growth.
Safe and caring environment: Ensuring that children feel secure and valued, helping them to develop confidence and independence.
Family engagement: Working closely with families to support each child’s development and create a strong foundation for their future education.
Enrichment and wider educational opportunities
We offer a wide range of activities beyond the classroom to help pupils discover their passions and develop resilience:
Performances and clubs: From drama and music to sports and art, our extra-curricular clubs provide opportunities for all interests. Festivals and school visits: Regular school visits and participation in local festivals, including sports festivals, help to broaden our pupils’ horizons and foster a sense of community.
Nature: Our extensive grounds allow our children to learn in the great outdoors. We have Forest School interventions designed to increase resilience and a love for the outdoors, providing hands-on learning experiences that connect pupils with nature.
At Gamlingay Village Primary, we are dedicated to supporting all pupils. Our inclusive approach ensures that every child has access to the resources and support they need to thrive.
Cabin Nest: Our enhanced resource base, the Cabin Nest, provides a safe and supportive environment for some of our SEND pupils. Here, children receive tailored support from trained staff, helping them to achieve their full potential.
Individualised plans: We create personalised learning plans to address the unique needs of each pupil, ensuring they receive the appropriate interventions and support.
Collaborative approach: We work closely with parents, caregivers, and external specialists to provide comprehensive support for all our pupils.
Gamlingay Village Primary is a warm, caring place and the staff are very approachable. They do so well at creating a nurturing environment in the classrooms, giving the children a positive learning experience.

Claire Heald CEO, The Cam Academy Trust
Every single pupil is supported to achieve their very best and be well prepared for the future.
The Trust is headed by our CEO Claire Heald, who joined us in 2024.
Our staff work closely together, sharing best practice to ensure the best possible education for all pupils.
Our aim is a simple one – we want educational excellence for all, with our academies working at the heart of, and serving, their local communities.
Our core principles
At the heart of The Cam Academy Trust are six principles which drive everything we do. These are:
The excellence principle – educational provision must be excellent for all pupils in all our schools.
The comprehensive principle – our schools welcome all pupils, whatever their starting points and abilities.
The broad education principle – education in our schools is broadly based and should incorporate a wide educational experience for all pupils, including strong provision of the arts, sport, physical education and technology as well as academic subjects.
The community principle – our schools should sit at the heart of their communities and provide for more than just the pupils.
You can read more about our principles and values on the Trust website at www.catrust.co.uk 1 3 2 4 5 6
The partnership principle – we expect our schools to work in partnership with others for mutual benefit, not just within the Trust but with others locally and nationally, as well as with other organisations.
The international principle – all our schools should have a clear international emphasis in their provision both within and beyond the formal curriculum.
