GROWING TOGETHER

WELCOME FROM THE HEADTEACHER Welcome to Jeavons Wood Primary School. We are looking forward to sharing the journey of learning with you and your child. At Jeavons Wood Primary School we believe that learning is a life-long process and we are all learning. As we all know the experiences a child has during their childhood impacts enormously on the kind of person they will be in the future. A significant proportion of that time is spent in school, so it is crucial that we do absolutely everything we can to get things right. What do we mean by ‘right’? Well from an educational point of view it’s about creating an enabling environment and delivering a stimulating curriculum through which all children can become enthusiastic and excellent learners. But, we want more than that. We want to ensure school is a place where everyone can experience a wide range of successes and where children are enabled to become confident individuals who are independent and creative in their thinking.

Every member of our school community is unique and special and we have a responsibility to support each other in becoming the best we can be. We ensure equality of opportunity for all our children and adapt our teaching or provision to meet the needs of the individual. We are not all the same and we understand that people learn in different ways. All children need support and challenge through their learning.

A POSITIVE & CARING ETHOS

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our children as confident, happy citizens. We have established a climate of care and consideration where adults and children respect one another and enjoy learning about each others achievements. We believe that mistakes are stepping stones to learning and encourage all to persevere

WIDER EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

As well as our creative curriculum and basic skills teaching, we provide many extra educational opportunities. We are a Forest School and all children learn forest skills through weekly sessions in Key Stage One and focused tasks in Key Stage Two. We believe that all children should learn to cook and provide many opportunities for this. Sport and Music both have high profiles in our school with many opportunities to take part and represent the school. All our children have the opportunity to attend numerous trips and wider events to enhance learning along with themed in school days.
