GROWING FOR THE FUTURE An Academy of

WELCOME FROM THE HEADTEACHER We are delighted to welcome you to our school family. Starting or changing schools is one of the most important times in a child’s life and we will nurture and support them to feel at home as quickly as possible. At Thongsley Fields, we aim to serve our community by providing a full and rounded education of the highest quality. With the support of The Cam Academy Trust, we have our sights firmly set on excellence, pushing boundaries and giving all of our children the very best possible life experiences. We expect all of our children to work hard and to make the most of their time with us. We will help them to develop the self-discipline, sense of responsibility and respect for others that they will need to grow as caring, successful members of society. We expect high standards of work and behaviour and promote an active involvement in school life. Parental support is vital in achieving these aims and we will do our very best to nurture a positive working relationship between home and school. Visits to our school are always welcome and we will be very pleased to show you around our extensive site and grounds. We hope that your partnership with Thongsley Fields is a happy and fulfilling one and we look forward to working together – growing hearts and minds.

HIGH QUALITY TEACHING & LEARNING At Thongsley Fields, we ensure our dedicated teachers deliver high quality teaching and learning to give all pupils the best opportunity to reach their full potential. We pride ourselves in creating a safe, secure, happy and caring environment, where children are challenged and inspired to succeed! We believe that a passion for learning is one of the most powerful and precious gifts we can offer our children, so we want our teaching to be inspiring and creative. Our environment is extremely spacious and used effectively so all children can learn. All our staff model a safe, secure and accepting environment so all children are confident to learn. Strong professional development for all staff is a key aim of The Cam Academy Trust and we make sure we exploit these opportunities to support and develop all staff. We are committed to improving what we do and aim to be excellent in all areas.

HIGH ACHIEVEMENT FOR ALL

Every member of our school community is unique and special and we have a responsibility to support each other in becoming the best we can be. We ensure equality of opportunity for all our children and adapt our teaching or provision to meet the needs of the individual. We are not all the same and we understand that people learn in different ways. All children need and receive support and challenge through their learning.

A POSITIVE & CARING ETHOS

We have established a climate of care and consideration where adults and children respect one another and enjoy learning about each other’s achievements. We believe that mistakes are stepping stones to learning and encourage all to persevere. At Thongsley Fields, we make a special effort to provide a warm, friendly and secure environment for pupils, staff and parents. Every individual is nurtured and encouraged to succeed as an individual. Our dedicated staff always ensure they go ‘that extra mile’ for all pupils and their parents, to provide appropriate support and expertise. We believe in an open door policy and that a strong parent partnership is a key to success for pupils.

WIDER EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

As well as our broad curriculum and strong focus on teaching the fundamental skills for life, we provide a number of extra educational opportunities that are free or heavily subsidised. We are a Forest School and all children learn a wide range of outdoor and personal skills through regular sessions. School visits are diverse, from members of the local community coming in to school to share their expertise, author visits sharing top tips for writing, to trips further afield and residentials for all children from Year 3 upwards. We operate a Breakfast Club before school where all children are welcome to share a meal and receive additional learning input. This additional learning and nurture is offered at a very low cost for all.

I’m looking forward to providing the best support and guidance for the new Headteacher and staff as they begin their journey with the Trust. The focus will be to provide a challenging and stimulating curriculum that will ensure success for all the pupils at Thongsley Fields in their own personal journey. Becoming part of the Trust is a new beginning for the school, and one that is full of positive potential with the clear expectation of creating an outstanding learning environment for the community of Thongsley Fields.
