WELCOME FROM THE EXECUTIVE PRINCIPAL
Welcome to The Voyager Academy. I am delighted that you are interested in our school and do hope that you will wish to join us. We now operate as part of the Comberton Academy Trust with its clear focus on educational excellence for all. With the other Academies in the Trust, including the founder Academy of Comberton Village College, Cambridge, we are working towards providing a really good educational experience for every pupil at The Voyager, based on high expectations for every single student. Through shared expertise across the Trust and strong commitment from all staff, we are now clearly on course to provide the quality of education that we all want. Established areas of strength in the Arts and the whole of the very strong Sixth Form are helping to lead the way for the whole school and confirm the high standards that we seek to ensure for everyone throughout The Voyager Academy.

We are very clear about the standards of behaviour that are expected from all of our pupils. Uniform is a clear requirement and it is worn properly, providing a clear sense of identity. Polite, courteous and calm behaviour is expected from all pupils. Through this, we are able to have an environment where really good teaching and learning can take place, enabling every pupil to flourish and achieve. We seek to use rewards wherever possible to encourage the positive behaviour that we want, but will use sanctions where appropriate to insist on high standards in this area.

Really good teaching and learning is fundamental to what we aspire to do and to be at The Voyager. We seek to ensure that all staff can and do teach to a high standard and that good learning is a reality for all our pupils. Strong professional development for all staff through the Teaching School Network is at the heart of the Comberton Academy Trust. This is one key way we aim to ensure that every teacher is equipped to teach very effectively and is fully up-to-date with all positive developments in the teaching profession. New technologies are embraced wherever appropriate to strengthen pupil learning. Our excellent facilities help to enable this, as well as to provide the sort of environment where top-quality teaching and learning can take place.

HIGH ACHIEVEMENT FOR ALL
The Voyager is a school where all pupils can achieve. More Able and Talented students have the opportunity to develop their skills and to achieve at high standards. Pupils with particular educational needs are effectively supported so that they can make strong progress. We seek to ensure that every single pupil in our care can and will achieve. At the upper end of our school, students can progress into our popular Sixth Form, where high achievement is again the aim for all. Many of our Sixth Form students progress to a variety of courses at a range of universities. We believe that high achievement also means pupils developing in a wider educational context, fostering broader skills and confidence. This is why we see extracurricular opportunities as so important to the overall educational experience of our pupils.

WIDER EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
We aim for education to be more than just good qualifications for all pupils at The Voyager. There is ample opportunity for all pupils to develop their particular interests and talents and to develop their character. Any student with any interest at all in any area of the Arts is wonderfully well catered for, both through the extensive, outstanding Arts facilities at the school and the expertise of the staff in this area. A full Duke of Edinburgh programme enables Voyager students to achieve awards at all levels in this scheme. Trips and visits throughout the UK are available, as are opportunities to travel to Europe and the rest of the world through our partnerships and projects based in several continents. Increasingly, we are developing these trips, visits and exchanges with other Academies in the Comberton Academy Trust.

We seek to work closely and effectively with all our partner primary schools. We know how important it is to ensure a smooth and positive transition from primary to secondary school. We work closely with our primary schools to ensure this is the case for all pupils who move to The Voyager for their secondary education. By working together in this way, we seek to ensure that the curriculum and educational experience every pupil receives builds on progress and achievement in primary school. This enables every pupil to make good progress with us from the moment that he or she arrives at The Voyager. For those pupils who join The Voyager during their secondary years, a careful induction, including assessment of needs and abilities, ensures that all can integrate effectively into the school and continue their education with a smooth transition.
