The Moyer Family On October 1, 2020 the Moyer Family suffered a horrible tragedy when their home burned, due to a gas explosion.

The Moyer’s lost everything in their home. All that remains are the walls of their garage. Gerald & Laura Moyer were home at the time along with two of their children. Laura Moyer and their son Cooper have been admitted into Bronson’s Burn Unit, and in stable condition. They both have multiple burns and will need to be in the hospital for serveral days to weeks. Any and all support is greatly appreciated. The Moyer’s will have to purchase clothes, shoes and the rest of life’s necessities, while they await any reimbursement from the insurance company.

Although she does well with fun easy-going dogs, Precious will need a cat-free home as she finds cats a bit too interesting. If there is another dog in the home already, a meet and greet will need to be set up at the shelter once your application is processed. Because of Precious’ initial reserved nature, a home with respectful teenagers is recommended. Precious is two years old and weighs only 48 pounds - she is a cute little gal. O God of the Universe who holds Heaven and earth in Your loving hands, we come before You with praise and adoration. We acknowledge Your supreme reign over the nations of earth. We need Your wisdom and guidance during these days leading up to a national election.

We confess that we have fallen short of Your glory.

We have preferred power over politics, our way over Your way; greed over generosity and selfish ambition over selfless service. As we mark our ballots, let us remember that voting in a free election is a sacred right and personal responsibility. We recognize that our right to vote came at a high price. Let no one interfere with our election process. Please protect votes that have already been cast. Let us go to the polls without fear or intimidation.

May those who will be elected know they are under a higher power than any political party or governance. May they govern with integrity, compassion and an honest desire to serve all people. Help us to be a nation of peace and justice. In the name of Him who died that we might live, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I’m Dustin McNees, current Otsego City Commissioner and father to four great kids (and husband to an amazing wife). I’ve served on the Commission for the past year and a half, and during that time, I’ve voted in a manner consistent with my core values: government transparency, fiscal responsibility, and citizen advocacy. My biggest accomplishment is successfully spearheading the purchase and implementation of police-worn body cameras for Otsego, which will protect our officers, citizens, and City while also building trust and saving us money through lower insurance rates.

I’ve also served on the Economic Vitality and Fire Department committees, and have volunteered with Hometown Christmas, seasonal downtown decorations, Gus Macker, and the Creative Arts Festival, for which I am also a chairperson. If you vote for me, I will continue to respect your rights and advocate for the essential City services you find important for years to come.

OTSEGO TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS I encourage all Otsego Township residents to vote YES November 3rd for the Township Safety Millage request on the ballot.

Your YES vote will ensure continued rapid response to medical calls by the Otsego Fire Department. Funds from this millage could also be used for other fire department expenses, local ambulance service contract, and future services of a deputy police officer contracted through the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department.

Ballot Language: Shall Otsego Township impose an increase of up to 2 mills ($2 per $1,000 of taxable value) in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, sec.6 of the Michigan Constitution and levy it for 5 years, 2020 through 2024 inclusive, for public safety purposes, raising an estimated $379,178.00 in the first year the millage is levied.

VETERANS DAY • NOVEMBER 11TH Once referred to as Armistice Day, Veterans Day is a time to recognize all the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces during wartime and peacetime. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, there are over 21.8 million veterans in the United States, many of whom served in wars, like the Korean Conflict, and the Persian Gulf War. On November 11th, pay tribute to our veterans and thank them for the sacrifice they have made to preserve our freedom and protect our country.
