God saw that she was getting tired And a cure was not to be

So He put His ar ms around her And He whispered, “Come home with Me ” With tearful eyes we watched her And saw her pass away

Although we loved her dearly

We could not make her stay

A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest God broke our hearts

To prove to us He only takes the best

Richard M SEAMS AGE 68 - ALLEGAN, MI

Cheryl (Bodine) HAMILTON

AGE 74 - MANSFIELD TEXAS formerly of Otsego MI

On that first Palm Sunday, about 2000 years ago, Jesus was greeted with praise and palms as he made his way into Jerusalem to give his life in love for the world The Jewish people of Jesus’ day were hoping that He was a warrior Messiah who would kick the tar out of their Roman oppressors The people shouted about Jesus, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David” (Mark 11:9-10) The word “hosanna” literally means “save us now!” The mention of the kingdom of David is significant too. During the reign of King David about 1000 years before Jesus, the Jews were on top of the world politically It is clear from their Palm Sunday praise that many Jewish people were hoping Jesus the Messiah would destroy Rome and make the Jews economically and militarily great again

During that week, it became clear that Jesus was not the sort of Messiah the Palm Sunday praisers hoped for Jesus did not come to take lives but to give his life He did not come to save the Jews politically but to save all people eternally. So, because Jesus didn’t meet their expectations, the same people who shouted “hosanna” on Palm Sunday also shouted “crucify Him” on Good Friday They wanted temporal freedom, but Jesus came to give them so much more He came to give them and us eternal freedom from death, shame, and lifeless living

Richard "Rick" Michael Seams of Allegan, MI, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 31, 2025, at the age of 68 Bor n on July 3, 1956, in Kalamazoo, MI, he was the son of Shirley Yvonne Sherman It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a truly onein-a-million soul a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and a friend to all who were fortunate enough to cross his path Rick lived a life guided by quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and a work ethic that inspired everyone around him He never met a person he didn’t get along with and, more remarkably, he never met anyone who didn’t like him right back His character was genuine, his smile easy, and his presence comforting Rick was the definition of a proud working man dependable, humble, and incredibly skilled He was deeply proud to have earned and carried four journeyman’s cards: Millwright, Pipefitter, Maintenance Mechanic, and Machine Repair a rare and hard-earned accomplishment that reflected his unmatched versatility and expertise His work ethic was nothing short of honorable He approached every task, big or small, with a sense of pride and purpose He began his career at Plainwell Paper, where he worked faithfully for over 20 years After leaving there, Rick joined Wester n Michigan University, serving the entire campus through the physical plant and maintenance department He took great pride in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes From there, he went on to work for Pfizer in Holland, then transferred to Pfizer in Terre Haute, IN, followed by a retur n to Kalamazoo where he worked at Graphic Packaging, and eventually finished his professional career at Pfizer in Portage as a respected machine repairman Even after retirement, Rick didn’t slow down True to his nature, he continued to seek employment opportunities not because he had to, but because he loved working, being useful, and continuing to help others Outside of work, Rick was a man who found joy in simple, meaningful moments In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors He had a gift for fixing things and not just machines, but also life’s little problems He was the one everyone tur ned to when something needed to be built, mended, or simply understood He loved being needed, and nothing made him prouder than being able to lend a hand to his children and grandchildren Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Lynn AshbrookSeams; his daughter, Laura (Seams) Craft; his stepdaughters, Aaron Marie and Virginia Johns; his adored grandchildren, Abby, Kyle, Connor, David, Ava, and Andrew; and his great-grandchildren, Noah and Emerson His legacy is one of humility, generosity, dedication, and boundless love Rick truly was one in a million and his memory will remain forever etched in the hearts of those who loved him In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at a later date

The family is being cared for by Avink, McCowen, Secord Funeral Home 120 S Woodhams, Pla nwell, MI, 269-685-5881 Please sign the guestbook and/or share a memory www amsfuneralhomes com

Let’s learn from the mistakes of those first century people The next time Jesus doesn’t meet your temporal expectations, don’t give up on Him. If you don’t bail on Him during the Good Friday death of your Palm Sunday expectations, He will exceed your expectations on Easter Sunday! Realize that God is always trying to do something more significant and longer lasting than we often expect Him to do Jesus says in John 10:10, “I have come to give you life to the full” and he means it
