new season of my life somewhat unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did. I suppose this psychosomatically stems from losing some people close to me over the past year. Suddenly I realized that I would start attending funerals of people close to my own age – this to me is a real dose of reality/mortality. I suppose I finally grasped that I am on “the back nine” (to put it in golf terms), and I’m not quite sure how long the game is supposed to last. One thing I do know - when it’s over on this earth...it’s over. A new adventure will begin, not just for me, but for my family and loved ones. Yes, I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn’t done and things I should have done. But another thing I know is, there are many things I’m happy to have done. I suppose this is somewhat of a common human dichotomy. What are those “happy things” for you? For in them lie the keys.
If you’re not on the back nine yet...let me remind you that
it will be here faster than you think. So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life… please do it quickly! Don’t put things off too long, life goes in a f lash. So, do what you can today or this month - as you can never be sure whether you’re on the back nine or when your game is up. You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life...so, live for today and say all the things that you want your loved ones

to hear and remember... and hopefully they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done over the years and tell you while you’re still of this earth.
LIFE is a gift to you, given to you by someone. The way you
live your life is your gift to those who come after you. Make it a fantastic one… Live it well! Enjoy today! Do something fun! Be happy! It is faith, family, friends and health that are real wealth, and not pieces of gold and silver (strange for a finance guy to say?).

Someone has shared this with me, so that I can share it
with you. Here are some one liners to ponder: Your kids are becoming you... but grandchildren are perfect! Going out is good… but coming home is better!
You forget names.... But it’s OK, because some people forgot
Your children will love starting the school year -
they even knew you. You realize you’re never going to be really good at some stuff... like golf and singing. You sleep better on the couch with the TV on… than in bed. You kinda miss the days when everything worked with just an “ON” and “OFF” switch… not with an app. What used to be freckles are now called liver spots.

clinical and the care was conveyor-

comfort level as I had to moan to her several times the pain was getting out of

months later I was in more pain and the same tooth on the other side of my
mouth had cracked as well. But, having had such a non-pleasant experience, I refused to seek dental intervention.

According to the New Jersey Medical Examiner’s Office, there were 1,587 drug overdose deaths in 2015 in New Jersey, up a staggering 21 percent from the year before. Even more alarming, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported in July 2015 that the New Jersey heroin overdose death rate is triple the soaring U.S. rate. The heroin epidemic cuts through every socio-economic level, affecting urban and suburban communities across the state. It’s a health crisis that can’t be ignored. WEforum hosts empowerment and educational events with the mission: “When you educate a woman, she empowers her family, and together WE can evolve a community.” The event was also supported by Monmouth Medical Center Foundation, Tigger House Foundation and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

Bringing Joy to Redesigning Your Kitchen By Cathy Padilla
They say the kitchen is the heart of the home as it serves as the gathering space for most families. Yet the thought of redesigning a kitchen, although exciting, can be overwhelming. Heart of the Home Kitchens is taking much of the stress out of the process. If you visit their showroom and state-of-the-art fabrication facility in Edison, you quickly understand the uniqueness of the operation. With almost 60 years combined experience, partners Ralph Scarola and Steve Niedzielski have built a redesign company that is the only of its kind in the state of New Jersey. “My best showroom is the completed kitchen of a client,” says Steve, managing partner of Heart of the Home. “Total vertical integration of the design and remodeling process— from start to finish, is what sets us apart. Because we never outsource, we have full control over the materials and craftsmanship that go into each project. A seamless process perfected by decades of experience allows us to provide exceptional delivery of value and service to every client.” With a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee and a long list of happy clients in the Edison area, Heart of the Home has expanded to Monmouth County. One of their most recent projects was a kitchen in the Clover Hill area of Colts Neck.

“We had our kitchen remodeled by Heart of the Home and are extremely happy with this company,” the homeowner shares. “They are a family-owned, full-service kitchen design company and my husband and I were very impressed. They designed our kitchen, fabricated the countertops, installed the cabinetry and the lighting, and finished the job on schedule. They did a beautiful job and made the experience a joy.” For more information, visit www.hearthomekitchens.com
6 KITCHEN REDESIGN TIPS FROM HEART OF THE HOME Consider Open Spaces
Appliances
Rather than the expense and disruption of a full blown addition, have you considered removing a wall or two and opening things up to increase your core living area and entertainment capabilities?
Start with all new appliances as existing models tend to stand out. Consider a drawer type, top loading microwave installed in a base cabinet, rather than cluttering the countertop or wall cabinets. Don’t forget to plan for garbage and recycling bins. A unique faucet or pot filler can complement your appliances.
Cabinetry New and modern painted doors are coming to the forefront in design and have the ability to work across all types of kitchen styles and décor trends. Going into 2018, shades of grey in cabinets and doors will continue to become more popular. We will also start to see more copper colored handles, oven hoods, sinks, accessories and appliances coming through as people look for alternatives to stainless steel and black to complement their cabinets. Countertops Kitchen islands serve a number of purposes. In addition to being a visual anchor in the space, they also help increase the room’s functionality and efficiency. Having more counter space adds obvious benefits: more room for meal prep, multiple chefs, and it can serve as an eating area. Create contrast by using a different material or color for the island counters than you did in the rest of the room. Research countertops thoroughly. Today’s quartz is an on-trend superior product and basically indestructible. Companies like Silestone and Cambria offer cutting edge technology with limitless color and textural options.

Flooring Ease of maintenance, slip-resistance, and overall aesthetic are important in choosing the right flooring for your kitchen. Hardwood is beautiful, but wears easily. While researching, also consider some of the leading edge laminate floors which have come a long way and now offer moisture resistance, extreme durability, and a variety of trending styles. Porcelain tile continues to be a great option, with new styles, textures, and size options coming into the market on a daily basis. Consider Your Kitchen’s Personality Details such as open shelving and glass door cabinetry that display family heirlooms, crystal stemware, and plants as well as careful choices of hardware have a strong impact on your kitchens “flavor”. Tying your cabinets crown moldings into adjoining rooms brings balance to your core living areas. LED lighting, live edge counters and shelving can set your kitchen apart. Choose a kitchen designer who listens to your ideas and incorporates them into a cohesive kitchen plan.

Michael handing out PTSD literature as he walked.
22
Holmdel police officer Michael Dowens completed his nonstop four-day second ruck march from the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial in Washington, D.C. to the VFW Local 133 in East Brunswick, New Jersey in order to raise money and awareness for PTSD. Beginning on the morning of May 31, 2017 and finishing on the evening of June 3, 2017, Dowens walked 240 miles. “Our journey will represent and call attention to, the journey veterans afflicted with PTSD take to recovery from their invisible injuries,” explained Dowens, an honorably discharged Navy veteran who is plagued with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He and his wife Christine founded Unbroken Warriors in order to help veterans cover their costs for receiving residential level mental health intervention that is specially designed for PTSD. The start of the ruck march was low-key, said Dowens “It was a quiet and peaceful beginning to a rough journey! Emery, my PTSD service dog started with me. My wife and in-laws John and Maryanne took turns picking her up and bringing her back to walk with me so we didn’t put too much stress on her.” He shared how the march impacted him. “It gave me time to clear my head and made me feel like I was serving my country. Most veterans feel the need to further their service in some way and I think I found mine. I really enjoy meeting people along the route and hearing their stories. I think it would shock the general population to find out just how many people my wife and I run into that either have PTSD or have had a loved one afflicted with the disability. Just like last year’s walk, I wasn’t aware of the far reaching coverage of my endeavor until it ended. Christine would share the posts and comments with me to keep me motivated from stopping.” Our social media following grew, as well as people inquiring about PTSD and what we do. I was truly in awe of how people met me at different points on the walk just to shake my hand or give some kind words. I’m walking for all the veterans who are aren’t yet comfortable enough to share their stories and PTSD setbacks. It really makes me take the pain in stride knowing that people are so supportive of my efforts. I also had a fellow police officer and a fellow veteran walk with me from Philadelphia to the end point. The

company was much appreciated.” The ruck march ended at VFW Post 133, a post which has supported Dowens from the start. “My wife’s grandfather John Keleman was one of the founding members there. When I completed my military service, he brought me there and explained what the VFW can do for me so I joined. That became my post and Tommy Coohill and Mike Goff couldn’t have been more supportive of Unbroken Warriors. Any veteran who is in need of just about anything can connect with the VFW for assistance." Dowens noted that VFW Local 133 organized a surprise homecoming for him. “Tommy and Mike just told the various unions and public service departments in the town of this fundraiser and they all came out to show their support. The mayor, police, fire, EMS, and even the postal workers all set up a great welcoming ceremony! The East Brunswick Police Department escorted me down from South Brunswick, by which time my wife, son, and service dog were back with me.” For the remainder of 2017 and into the future, Dowens said, “Our biggest goal is to grow our organization. We need more volunteers to help with the various facets of fundraising and spreading the word about what we do. We also hope to be in contact with more veterans’ organizations so these men and women know there is help for PTSD with no cost to them. Our website is operational, as well as social media so we are very accessible. The application process is quick and easy. We hope to pay forward all the help we received. June is PTSD awareness month so we hope that it will be a big advocacy month for us in the future. Educating the public about PTSD is just as important as getting afflicted veterans into treatment. It’s an invisible illness that still has such a stigma.” Although Dowens would like this event to be held each year, he responded with sincere honesty, “As long as my feet can hold out, I do hope to make it an annual event!” Last year’s ruck march was displayed on social media in real time and raised $30,000. Donations can be made at www.unbrokenwarriors.org or mailed to Unbroken Warriors, P.O. Box 141, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733.

COLTS NECK PBA HOSTED THIRD ANNUAL STEAK AND SMOKE EVENT By Susan Murphy Colts Neck PBA Local 333 hosted its third annual Steak and Smoke fundraising event on June 1, 2017 at Colts Neck Fire Company No.1 on Route 537. The four-hour event was held to help the PBA raise funds which are then used to support a number of in-town scholarships and youth groups, as well as a number of charities that the local supports. Morgan Savage and Rich Zarrillo were co-chairs of the event. Detective Zarrillo noted that this year the attendance topped 330. “This was an opportunity for members of the community, a number of our sponsors and our PBA membership to interact and have a good time while helping support our fundraising efforts.” A gift auction with close to 100 items including golf outings, dinners, electronics, sporting event tickets and many more, as well as a 50/50 raffle were all part of the event. “Upon entering the event, attendees were given a PBA string-bag that contained their cigar pack that was purchased through Smokers Haven in Lincroft (who also donated a number of gift items), a humidipak courtesy of Boveda and a list of our sponsors and their contact information. We also had a number of items in the bags from our sponsors to help promote their businesses. Those items included drink koozies, pens, a number of business cards and some attendees may have received other items. We rely on our sponsors heavily to make this event a

Members of Marlboro, Holmdel, Howell, Long Branch, the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office and members of PBA 50 attended. In addition to local police, there were also large groups represented from the Long Branch FMBA, responders from Perth Amboy and a NYC contingent from both the NYPD and the FDNY, noted Detective Zarrillo. “We are very fortunate to have the support of the Colts Neck residents and local businesses, as well as a number of outside supporters that help make the event the success that it is and was. We look forward to planning our next event.” Detective Zarrillo emphasized that although the event committee included himself, Morgan Savage, Todd Mayer and Brian Caswell, “We have the support of our entire local to help make the event a success.” Some of the charities Local 333 supports throughout the year are Colts Neck High School Scholarship Program; Howard Camden Scholarship; Robert Morris Scholarship; Colts Neck High School ROTC Program; Colts Neck High School Project Graduation; Marine Corps LeagueReynolds Detachment; National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund; St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital; Colts Neck Drug and Alcohol Alliance; Colts Neck Sports Foundation; Colts Neck Recreation Department; NJSPBA Survivor and Welfare Fund; Joan Dancy & Pals Foundation for ALS; Police Unity Tour; and a number of other donation requests that are sent to them for consideration. *Photo credit: Colts Neck PBA

Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders recognize Colon Cancer Awareness Month.
Colts Neck Resident Celebrates Five Year ‘Cancerversary’ Michele Battista of Colts Neck recently celebrated a medical milestone. In February 2012 following her very first colonoscopy, Battista was diagnosed with colon cancer. Everything moved quickly after that day and she diligently followed the plan of treatment set by her doctor. In dealing with this difficult news, Battista learned to rely on her family and friends. “You never go back to what you were BC (Before Cancer), but you learn to find yourself in the new you,” shared the fifty-six-year-old. Today, Michele is happy to announce she just celebrated her five year cancerversary! Reaching her five year cancerversary was a bittersweet moment because it seemed so far off from initially hearing those dreaded words from her doctor, “You have cancer.” Michele said she was so thankful that her six month scans, bloodwork and checkup were pronounced clean from her oncologist in January. Over the past five years, Michele has been determined to make the best of a difficult diagnosis. “I have learned that you take nothing for granted, ever! You enjoy the little things in life! You especially learn to become the ‘New You’ after your cancer treatment. You accept that you made it through the journey with some new kinks in the system.” She added, “As chemo should be everyone’s worse nightmare, I advocate the importance of colon cancer screenings. It is the only cancer that is preventable by screenings.” Battista stays active by walking and doing yoga stretching at home. She enjoys being

President of the Friends of the Library and continues to be an advocate for the Colon Cancer Alliance, along with her friends from Red Bank Gastro. This past March, she joined Dr. Howard Hampel and Nurse Bonnie Woodward as they received the Monmouth County Proclamation for Colon Cancer Awareness Month from the Monmouth County Freeholders, thanks to Freeholder Director Lillian Burry. “I also received the same for Colts Neck and the State of New Jersey. The Colts Neck Library displayed the Colts Neck Proclamation along with colon cancer books and Colon Cancer Alliance handouts for the month of March thanks to Head Librarian, Stephanie Laurino. I had blue bows on the columns of the Colts Neck Library, Town Hall and Colts Neck Realty for the month, thanks to Ann Hager and Sheri Nicholson from Mulberry Market.” She continues to be a peer buddy for the Colon Cancer Alliance for recently diagnosed colon cancer patients, and answers questions about her colon cancer experiences on the American Cancer Society’s What Next site. Michele attended Monmouth Medical’s Survivor’s event on June 4 and will participate in its annual Jersey Shore Undy Run in Long Branch on July 15, 2017. “This is my fifth year participating in the Undy with team RBGastro which is captained every year by my good friends now, Nurse Bonnie Woodward & Dr Douglas Weine of Red Bank Gastro. The last two years we received the Largest Team Award. To top it off last year, I took third place Female Survivor at 56 minutes.” Battista noted that at the Jersey Shore Undy Run on July 15 at 8:00 a.m. on the Great Lawn at Pier

Village in Long Branch she will be joined by her brothers, sister-in-law, a few Red Bank Catholic classmates, and Team#RBGastro. If you wish to support Michele in her efforts to support Colon Cancer Awareness, visit support.ccalliance.org. Part of the proceeds from the race will support Monmouth Medical Center’s colon cancer education for women over 50 and their spouses, as well as lab and patient exam fees. “I want to thank everyone for cheering me on these past five years! I appreciate your support and prayers,” said Michele.
Congratulations on your five year Cancerversary Michele!

Collier Youth Services Raises close to $250,000 at 90th Anniversary Celebration Gala Collier Youth Services, a non-profit organization that empowers at-risk youth to grow toward their potential in an environment of belonging, dignity, and hope, is proud to announce its success in raising close to a quarter of a million dollars to support Collier’s mission at its 90th Anniversary Celebration Gala in June. To commemorate 90 Years of Belonging, Dignity, and Hope, Collier celebrated the Ryan family for their commitment to the Collier mission. In attendance at the event was NJ Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno, Red Bank Councilman Michael Whelan, along with Collier Board Members, staff and supporters. In lieu of a Live Auction, Collier opted to do a Fund-A-Need that introduced the Sr. Carol Beairsto Residency Fund to support the Collier House and Collier Group Home—a fitting tribute to a woman who dedicated her entire life to providing vulnerable young people with the resources and support to achieve their dreams. The highlight of the evening was hearing the emotional and inspirational accounts of six women who were former residents of Collier’s Residential Program. They spoke about their struggles but more poignantly was their explanation of how Collier had positively molded them in to the successful women they are today. Thanks to the generosity of those in attendance, Collier far exceeded its goal and raised nearly $250,000 to help support the young women in its Residential Program! “Collier’s 90th Anniversary Celebration Gala was definitely a Time to Remember! Every year Collier must raise over $200,000 for the residential programs. In live auction style we asked our Gala guests to consider making a donation to support the girls in our residential programs. What a tremendous response we received!” exclaimed Executive Director, Sr. Debbie Drago. “People are so generous and appreciate that their investment is making a tremendous difference in the lives of our young women, who will not be defined by their challenges but rather choose Left to right: Mary Spano, Eve DeCarlo, Sr. Debbie to build on their resilience and Drago, and Carol Stillwell strength,” continued Sr. Debbie.

County Seeks Charities to Join Employee Giving Campaign Unaffiliated charitable organizations must apply by July 10
The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders is inviting charitable organizations to join the 2017/2018 Monmouth County Public Employee Charitable Campaign. “Independent charitable organizations that are not already participating are invited to join the County’s annual charitable campaign,” said Freeholder Director Lillian G. Burry who is the 2017/2018 campaign chairwoman. “We know that there are many local not-for-profit organizations in our community doing phenomenal work that may not know about this fundraising opportunity. This is a chance for local charities to connect with public employees here in Monmouth County.” Interested charities must submit a completed application by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 10. To be eligible to participate, organizations must be a registered 501(c)3 and have raised at least $15,000 each year for the past two years. For an application or more information, contact Maria Wojciechowski, MCPECC coordinator, by email at mcpecc@co.monmouth.nj.us or by phone at 732.303.2888. Last year, public employees in Monmouth County and its partners donated over $38,000 to support the work of more than 600 charitable organizations right here in Monmouth County and around the globe. “I am extremely proud of the County’s ongoing commitment to the annual charitable campaign,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone, who was the 2016/2017 campaign chairman. “I strongly encourage any qualified charity to join the upcoming Monmouth County Public Employee Charitable Campaign. This is another way the employees of Monmouth County show how they give back to the community.”

Mario Sessa, who was the Sessa family's rock, remains their inspiration and hero.
Meet Your NeighboR Irene Sessa with all her grandchildren.
A Colts Neck Family Affair BY SHANNA POLIGNONE IRENE SESSA pours her full heart into all she does. Her focused work and determination brings to fruition all she believes in. Community, education and family are her passions. These are the driving forces behind who she is at her core. She is a woman filled with heart, with goals, with a desire to create change for the better. As she describes the parts that make her whole, the heartfelt emotion she feels spills out in almost a contagious way. Listening to her tell her story, the emotion she expels draws you in as if you are there with her- embracing her joy, her determination, her excitement. “I am just so blessed” she says over and over as she reminisces. Irene grew up in in Brooklyn, NY. It was there that she and her late husband Mario married and began their careers and family. Mario worked as a US Special Agent who traveled the world training law enforcement. Irene dedicated her career to the NYC board of education. She describes herself and Mario as “two city kids” and follows up with, “Who would have thought we would end up on a farm!” The farm she
40
speaks of is where she now calls home, Victory Stables, a 32-acre horse farm nestled in the heart of Colts Neck. She says, “God puts you where He wants you to be, and here we are.” Irene and Mario moved to Colts Neck 40 years ago and have been part of creating the stellar reputation the town carries ever since. Mario began his involvement in community service, first with the Sports Foundation, and later with the Farmland Preservation Committee which he served as ViceChairperson. During that time Irene focused on motherhood as well as her career. She held titles such as teacher, vice principal, principal mentor and adjunct professor. Irene was always pursuing one university degree after another and applying those skills to strengthen the schools and the students for whom she was responsible. With her lifelong passion for the process of educating, Irene won countless awards and recognition. The schools in which she was assigned, always ranked at the highest level among the 1800 in NYC. It was as if she had a magic touch.
COMMUNITY MAGAZINE www.CommunityMagazineNJ.com
Everyone wanted to know the secret of her success. Irene attributes that success to discovering, from the onset, a child’s strengths, interests and talents and then building on those strengths, instilling confidence. At that point, remediating student challenges and introducing more difficult concepts are readily accepted. It is also necessary to everyone’s success to feel that his presence and contribution to the school community was of great value. Each person, big or small, old or young was embraced, respected and loved! The sign at the door as you entered the school read, “Love Prepares the Mind for Learning”, and so it did! Winning by a landslide in 2011, Irene was sworn in as a Colts Neck Board Member and re-elected in 2014. She was inspired by Mario’s example of always giving back to the Colts Neck Community and in his honor continued his legacy. Irene, with her professional abilities and fifty years experience as an educator, was assigned to most of the standing committees. As Chair of the Curriculum and Communication Committees, Irene was able to be a
catalyst for many of the astounding advancements that changed the educational landscape and brought forth a new era of a world class school district. Her enthusiastic and tireless efforts on behalf of the children of Colts Neck resulted in an exemplary full day, tuition free Kindergarten and a full day Preschool Program. Irene was a staunch supporter of the implementation of the STEM initiative from K-8, (Science, Engineering, Engineering, Technology) and expanding the Enrichment and World Language opportunities. Priority was also shifted to raising the bar for all students through a rigor of instruction that was accelerated, engaging and highly motivating. For the entire length of her elected terms Irene was the Colts Neck Delegate to the New Jersey School Board Association and the Monmouth County School Board. She served as Vice President and participated on the selection committees choosing the new administration team that is currently in place. On the eve of May 10, 2017, Irene was honored by her fellow Board Members and the Administration for her remarkable contribution to the children, the school district and the community at large. The ultimate driving force for Irene has always been her family. Mario and Irene have four children, Adele Sessa, Al Sessa, Josephine Sessa Agliata and Paul Sessa. Paul currently lives in California, pursuing his career at NBC Universal Theme Park as Senior Manager of Production and Design. Adele, Al and Josephine remain in Colts Neck along with their families. Irene’s seven grandchildren are at the center of her world, and she speaks of them as though they are her best friends, each being special to her in his own way. Irene is ecstatic to have had all her grandchildren attend the Colts Neck schools while she was on the Board. “I would have been devastated if my children chose to send them anywhere else,”. Irene believes that children in school need more of a voice, since they are the major stakeholders. “All decisions, ultimately affect their education.” With her grandchildren
attending class while she served on the board of education, it gave Irene the opportunity to listen to their words and apply them to her work. Each of her grandchildren shared something about their grandmother. “I love how my Grandma connects with people so easily and finds the good in every single person” ISABELLA, 15

“Irene’s life and home are filled with pictures, quotes and gifts, reminders of the ones who mean the most to her. She holds dear to her heart the family traditions of Sunday dinners and weekend sleep-overs with her grandchildren, soccer games, horse competitions, dance recitals, school events, birthdays, holidays and a myriad of other celebrations. Living close makes it easy to be together. Irene often smiles to herself thinking that people would not believe that she lives in a constant state of euphoria, contentment and love. “I feel so blessed, so grateful, so fulfilled. “I am living the dream, and it’s glorious - a pension, good health and sharing life with the ones I love the most, my family.”

Record Turnout for Annual Fashion Fundraiser More Than 240 Guests Mark FCS Auxiliary 60th Anniversary
Nearly 250 guests joined members of the FCS Navarumsunk Auxiliary to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its annual Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show recently at Branches in Long Branch. The event raised more than $12,000 for FCS (Family & Children’s Service), Monmouth County’s oldest nonprofit social service agency, providing compassionate care, intervention and education to people during challenging times. “For 60 years, members of the Navarumsunk Auxiliary have devoted their time and resources to fundraising and advocating on behalf of the most vulnerable in Monmouth County,” FCS CEO Delly Beekman said. “We were very pleased with the record number of guests at this year’s luncheon. Many traveled from northern New Jersey and even outside the state to congratulate the women for their continuous support of FCS.” The luncheon featured a sold-out 50/50 raffle, chance auction and Shopping Boutique hosted by Le Papillion in Rumson. Le Papillion donated 20% of its sales proceeds from the Boutique and the collection of designer dresses, jackets, purses, scarves and accessories worn by the volunteer models during the fashion show to FCS. In addition, the FCS Thrift Boutique set up a “pop-up shop”, raising more than $1,000 for the agency while promoting its new location at 604 Second Avenue in Long Branch. Burry said. “From the Sheriff’s Department to our agriculture-based organizations, to the Public Works Department, and many other opportunities for entertainment, there is something for everyone to enjoy over the five days of the event. Bring your family and friends and experience first-hand some of the special people and programs that make up this great county!” Each day of the Fair is filled with exciting acts such as Hell on Wheels - BMX Stunt Show and World of Wonders & Escape Explosions. HOLMDEL FOOTBALL CLUB AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS Left to right: Susan Barreca, Michael Barreca, Kevin Lane, Jake Lane & Lori Lane
Left to right: Holmdel FC Club President Colleen Cook, Maggie Matthijs and Rachel Fryefield
HOLMDEL FOOTBALL CLUB was pleased to present four scholarships in June to local athletes who have not only proven their dedication to the sport of soccer, but also their community through volunteer services and their education by maintaining strong GPAs. The Russell E. Dronne Scholarship was established by the club to honor the memory of Russell’s outstanding dedication to community and volunteerism. Russell was a selfless volunteer in the soccer club for decades. He volunteered tirelessly in the community including serving on the Holmdel Township Committee. The hope is for young players to follow in Russell’s footsteps. The scholarship winner this year is the epitome of a scholar-athlete: Rachel Fryefield. She played her entire youth career in Holmdel at the age of 7 through her final varsity game this year for Holmdel High School, which included a State Sectional Title with the 2015 Holmdel High School Varsity team. Rachel gave back tenfold to the younger soccer players in the community by volunteering and leading by example at various HFC soccer camps and clinics. She also volunteered a significant amount of her time to numerous community service activities, along with being a member of National and Spanish Honor Societies, Heroes and Cool Kids, Holmdel High School Yearbook and the Model UN. She will attend the University of Michigan in the fall.

The NCAA website quotes a statistic that only 2.4% of female high school soccer players will play Division 1 soccer in college. It takes a unique amount of talent, dedication, hard work and sacrifice to achieve this level of play. Holmdel FC is proud to include one of these elite players as a scholarship winner this year: Maggie Matthijs Maggie played for Holmdel FC for 4 years prior to playing varsity soccer at Holmdel HS for four years. She was a two-year varsity captain. She helped lead the team as a captain in her junior year to the first state championship in Holmdel High School girls soccer history. She was recognized on many occasions throughout her High School career including All Division, All Group and Defender of the Year honors. Maggie will attend the University of Vermont this fall and will be a member of their Division 1 soccer team. Holmdel FC awarded another scholarship this year to a young man who is not only a leader on the soccer field, but also in his school. As the only student in his middle school accepted to Marine Academy of Science and Technology, he excelled academically achieving Honor Roll all four years and National Honor Society as well during his junior and senior years. The club was proud to award Michael Barreca a scholarship. Michael was a member of the NJX Sounders for seven years and this team hit Top 10 in the Nation. He volunteered
COMMUNITY MAGAZINE www.CommunityMagazineNJ.com
for the club and served as a youth coach bringing a team to a National Championship. Michael was awarded the Shore Regional Most Valuable Player and the Shore Regional Defensive Player of the Year. Michael will be attending Duke University in the fall. The remaining scholarship was also awarded to a member of the NJX Sounders team. He was an All Conference/All Division/All State recipient, who was also the Varsity Captain for his soccer team at Red Bank Regional during his junior and senior years: Jake Lane. He played for NJX Sounders for 8 years and gave back by volunteering for the club and refereed soccer games throughout the years. Jake will be attending the University of Delaware in the fall and continuing to play soccer as a walk on. Both Michael and Jake played on the NJX Sounders and received scholarships from Holmdel FC, but it’s also important to note that almost the entire team will be playing college soccer – they clearly had a very special, dedicated group of young men and coaching staff. Congratulations to all! Holmdel FC wishes these outstanding athletes and students continued success as they go on to their next chapter and hopes they continue to give back to their communities as they further develop their talents.

Local Monmouth County Farmers Markets
DID YOU KNOW that Monmouth County has 14 farmers markets where you can purchase locally grown produce, canned goods, honey and more?
“You can find places to buy fresh and healthy fruits, vegetables and other farm products in our newly launched online Farmers Market Directory,” said Monmouth County Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to economic development and tourism. “The Directory is an addition to our expanding Grown in Monmouth program that is focused on raising awareness for locally farmed products and supporting agri-businesses.” To keep updated on farmers market convenient to you, check out the Grown in Monmouth Farmers Market Directory at www. GrownInMonmouth.com. The directory lists the local Farmers Markets throughout the County with contact information, including driving directions, for each market. Freeholder Director Lillian G. Burry, liaison to the Agricultural Board and longtime supporter of farmland preservation said, “The Board of Freeholders remains committed to supporting our farmers and the local agricultural community. The Farmers Market Directory is another step forward in our exciting and important ‘Grown in Monmouth’ program.” The Farmers Market Directory joins the Searchable Online Directory, SOD, which enables consumers to easily find growers, pickyour-own opportunities, equestrian activities, and other agricultural products and services in Monmouth County. Both tools can be found at www.GrowninMonmouth.com. Monmouth County farmers are encouraged to register their farms and products on the SOD. “The SOD is a one-stop shopping resource for residents, restauranteurs, supermarket buyers and institutional purchasers to connect with our county farmers,” said Arnone. “This is an incredibly valuable tool with many benefits for users.”

Living Well Pet Inspired Pickleball
TOM ZAPCIC PHOTOGRAPHY HEADSHOTS | EVENTS | COMMERCIAL
Leave it to a pooch to inspire a paddle game that’s so doggone fun. If you haven’t heard of Pickleball, it’s coming to a town near you! Pickleball got its start as a backyard paddle game in Washington state. The owner’s dog was named Pickles. Pickleball is currently the fastest growing sport in North America with 2.5 million new players reported in 2016. In short, Pickleball is a combination of tennis, paddleball and badminton played on a short and narrow tennis court. The game is played mostly as doubles with wooden paddles and a hard plastic whiffle ball that bounces less than a tennis ball. Here’s what everyone’s barking about:
tinyurl.com/tomzapcicphotography Call 732.547.0893
1. Pickleball is fast and furious. The game is well played at the net. Players have good hand/eye coordination and a love for action. As a result, it’s a tremendous calorie burn and a great workout. Bring your Fitbit and a change of clothes. Veteran players are already sporting fast wicking workout wear to bring on the burn. 2. Pickleball will keep you mentally sharp. The game calls for strategy and is scored in three parts: your score, your opponent’s score and your position as the server. Think starting serve as “0/0/1”. First server, no points either side. Games are played up to 8 or 11 points per game.

3. Pickleball is social. The best players keep their sense of humor and have a ton of fun. Laughter is the best medicine and this game is healing all kinds of ailments as the ultimate stress buster amongst friends and fierce competitors. Pickleballers are also known for their after parties, so if you’re looking to expand your social circle, give it a try. 4. Pickleball is easier on your moving parts. The serve is underhand and the court is smaller. This means less stress on your bones and joints and more focus on winning without injury. Beginner clinics are available and all levels of play are in motion here in Monmouth county. Like every sport, it’s all about skill, terminology and good manners. Want to learn more? Contact Kim Smith at pickleballkimmy@gmail.com or Tom Zapcic at tzapcic@aol. com. There are clinics for beginners and multi-level play opportunities throughout our communities. Child Entrepreneur Gives Back BY CATHY PADILLA
Maxwell Lanfrank
Max with the Sea Bright Police, one of the many stations he has donated products to.
MAXWELL LANFRANK may only be ten-years-old but he is already a philanthropist, an entrepreneur, and a very interesting kid. The Eatontown resident is the founder of Behind the Blue, a program benefitting police officers that developed as part of his company, MoMax Enterprizes. Max visits police stations throughout Monmouth County handing out a line of all natural, organic lip balms and hand sanitizers that he formulated with the help of his grandmother. He gives his products to the police officers as his way of thanking them for their service and donates a portion of each sale of his Behind the Blue line to C.O.P.S., an organization that provides resources to families of law enforcement officers slain in the line of duty. Max got his start when his little sister, Harper, decided to eat one of his lip balms. Already having a funny little obsession about germs, he then became concerned about the unhealthy ingredients in his collection of hand sanitizers and lip balms that included petroleum-based chemicals. With the help of his "mom-mom", Liz Balogh, Max and his grandmother got to work creating healthy, non-drying, all natural products made with organic coconut oil, beeswax, vitamin E and either peppermint or cocoa, depending upon the flavor profile, that are not only healthy but safe if accidentally consumed. Using an aloe plant his aunt had given him, he found a way to sanitize the hands while leaving them soft and moisturized, without using any harsh chemicals. Before long his parents, Kristen and Bill, realized
the potential in the products and MoMax (Mom-mom/ Maxwell) Enterprizes was born with Max as the President and his parents comprising the Board of Directors of the company. But having his own business at eight years old wasn’t all that was in Max’s heart. He wanted to find a way to honor his favorite hero, his dad who is a corrections officer, and the Behind the Blue line of lip balms and hand sanitizer was added to MoMax. Max is currently looking for an officer from every state in America to whom he can send a lip balm. In return, he asks the officers to send him a picture of themselves and he calls it the MoMax Officer Challenge. “He’s a kid with a great, big heart,” Kristen Lanfrank says of her son. “His goal is to give away products to every police station in Monmouth County, then New Jersey, then the country as a way to say thank you. He’s a big thinker and he works hard to make his dreams become reality.” Max’s latest big thought turned reality are products for Jersey Shore surfers like his dad. Called MaxSwell, the new line includes a muscle rub, a zinc face protector, and a face and body balm. He has also formulated surf wax for surfboards, skim boards, and other surf products utilizing beeswax and essential oils and the products are popping up in stores like Lucky Dog Surf Shop in Sea Bright. For more information on MoMax, visit www. momaxgivesback.com.
St. Mary’s Martha Mary Guild’s “In and Out” Luncheon THE ANNUAL “IN AND OUT” LUNCHEON, at which the Martha Mary Guild welcomes new Board members and thanks those that have served their Guild well, had a different “twist” this year. In May, they had a wonderful Tea at the Lillagaard Inn in Ocean Grove, which is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast and Tea House. Jane Wehr, who has been the owner (with her husband, Dick) for the past 20 years, explained the proper Tea etiquette and components as the group were served like British royalty! The ladies of the Guild all enjoyed the interesting three story Bed and Breakfast tour, filled with magnificent antiques and offering splendid ocean views.

Animal Advocacy: UnsuspectED Puppy Mills Provided by Kathleen Schatzmann NJ State Council Director | The Humane Society of the United States In June, The HSUS assisted the Wolfeboro Police Department with a puppy mill intervention not on a farm in Arkansas or a shack in North Carolina (two states where we’ve done major actions to help dogs), but rather in a mansion in northern New England. It is one of the most unexpected puppy mill operations our Animal Rescue Team has helped uncover – with 84 Great Danes caged inside a cavernous home where they should have been treated like canine kings and queens. When we think of puppy mills, we think of small breeds, such as Yorkshire terriers, French bulldogs, or Bichon Frises. Here we had one of the biggest of dog breeds, with their big paws, droopy faces, and friendly manner. But time and lack of care had changed some of their features. Their paws were especially large, even for Great Danes, and appeared to be infected. Others had irritated eyes, made bright red or swollen shut. There were big dogs who had spent countless hours in cages and some who were underweight, sad, and broken. There was an overpowering rancid and putrid smell, with ammonia levels so high in some rooms that the rescuers’ eyes teared up. Feces and debris were smeared across all the walls to the point where the windows were opaque. There was no sign of available water, just some remains of raw chicken parts strewn around the dogs. We took these beleaguered animals to a temporary shelter, where we will continue to work on healing their medical conditions and mending their spirits. This case, like so many others where we’ve come to the aid of animals in distress, will place substantial financial burdens on The HSUS and our partners. Thanks to our members and other supporters, we’ll cover costs for sheltering and daily care and veterinary care for the animals, as well as the costs of running the temporary shelter for many months. But why should animal welfare groups and taxpayers bear these financial burdens instead of the people who mistreated the animals? These circumstances are preventable, and law enforcement and The HSUS shouldn’t have
to ride to the rescue after animals have had to endure this kind of human neglect and trauma. New Jersey, like New Hampshire, does not have a “cost of animal care” law that would require defendants who have been charged with animal cruelty based on probable cause to pay for animal care costs while the case is being adjudicated. Since completing each legal proceeding can take months or even years, it is the animal protection movement that has to shoulder the costs of care. While our elected officials have begun to address this issue with the introduction of a bill to establish the process for recovering the cost of caring for animals involved in animal cruelty violations, we hope that the images of the animals in distress will shake up and wake up Trenton to expedite the bill’s movement and join the twenty states that have already enacted such laws. Something really special happened after the Saint John Vianney High School (SJVHS) graduation. The SJVHS softball team (27-1) was playing in the Shore Conference Tournament semifinal game against Middletown North and the SJV Lady Lancers were down 1-0 and a little weary having played three games in a row. The Lancers received a boost when former SJVHS pitcher Jen Retzer arrived mid-game to support the team. SJVHS rallied for a hard-fought 3-2 victory and advanced to the SCT finals. The former Lancers standout Jenn Retzer, a 2011 alumna of the SJVHS program and a star at the University of Pennsylvania, suffered a critical injury in a skiing accident this past February that left the 23-year old in a coma for several weeks. Jen is a native of Middletown. It was an extraordinary show of sportsmanship and solidarity post game with Middletown North and SJVHS united in support for Jen’s continued recovery.

14th Annual Town Spelling Bee It does not resemble the National Spelling Bee in intensity, but fourth grade students provided plenty of entertainment in the annual Colts Neck Friends of the Library (FOL) Spelling Bee. The enthusiastic fourth grade students, their families and some of their teachers arrived at the Colts Neck Library on June 9, 2017 to take part in the 14th annual Bee. Once again, Ms. Nancy Plumfield read the words to the spellers. Each student was serious about wanting to win, but it Back row, left to right: Former Colts Neck teacher Joan Phillips, Teachers Kristin Manners, Amy Desmond and Nancy Plumfield. Front row, left to right: Juliana Brown (honorable mention), Vivien Rizzuto (third place), Eva DiFoglio (second place), and Olivia Pastor (first place)
was so gratifying to see the fourth graders cheer their classmates on. In keeping with tradition, the spellers were ensured a successful first round – they only had to spell their first names. This allowed the students to practice using the microphone and to alleviate some of the anxiety. (A misspelled name would not disqualify the contestant.) The group survived many rounds before the final showdown between Olivia Pastor and Eva DiFoglio. The winning word was “industry” and Olivia took first place. Eva finished in second place, Vivien Rizzuto was third, and honorable mention was awarded to Julianna Brown. Every speller received a large ribbon and the final four each received a trophy. The top three spellers also were awarded a prize of $100, $75 and $50 respectively. The contest is open to all fourth graders residing in Colts Neck. The FOL Board was on hand to run the event, with vice president LiliAnn Paras chairing and serving as the judge. President Michele Battista assisted and served as photographer. The board looks forward to meeting next year’s group of spellers and invites the community to join the FOL.

Vincent embrace change. It’s reflected in the way we conduct our business, within our shop, and especially through our individually unique jewelry design.” J. Vincent Jewelers was selected by Forevermark of De Beers to have a ‘brand environment’ created in its shop. The decision to do this was based on J. Vincent Jewelers’ performance in the United States as one of its top 10 diamond

partners. “So far, our brand environment is the largest one that Forevermark has installed. It’s nothing short of spectacular,” noted Brando. There are approximately 450 Forevermark dealers in the United States and J. Vincent Jewelers is one of 23 dealers licensed with the De Beers Group of Companies to carry its exceptional diamonds. This collection represents the pinnacle of Forevermark’s promise. It embodies the principles that Forevermark stands for and what it is dedicated to, and that is offering the consumer a diamond that is beautiful, rare and responsibly sourced. Brando shared, “I hope that our renovation makes our guests feel more welcome and at ease in their shopping or “just looking” experience. I want them to feel at home – to feel safe in their decision to do business with us. The installation of the brand zone represents our commitment and dedication to the

finest cut and most brilliant diamonds in the world. It also allows us to showcase fine color gems from various regions of the world.” “Diamonds benchmark important moments in our lives, past and present. It’s good to know when gazing down upon your diamond, enjoying its fiery brilliance and spectacular array of spectral colors that it was crafted from the earth with great respect to the people, wildlife and land involved in the process.” If you get a chance to go to the Forevermark website, Brando hopes that you will read through and perhaps gain a better understanding of why such a diamond brand is so relevant today. VISITING NURSE ASSOCIATION HEALTH GROUP’S EMERGING LEADERSHIP BOARD RAISES FUNDS FOR CHILDREN & FAMILY PROGRAMS The Emerging Leadership Board (ELB), Visiting Nurse Association Health Group’s (VNA) young professionals board recently hosted their second annual “Summer Soirée,” at the Beer Garden at Blu Grotto Ristorante in Oceanport. The event raised more than $30,000 in support of the VNA’s Children and Family Health Institute, which provides care, education and support to children and families. The event, which featured cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, live music and a chance auction, invited guests to donate to VNA’s “new mom kits” initiative that enables nurses in the VNA’s Nurse Family Partnership program to give essential baby items to new and expecting mothers in underserved communities. The initiative was started by ELB last year when they discovered that first-time
mothers in the program had limited means to purchase essential items for their babies. Proceeds from this year’s Summer Soirée represent the first installment of the Emerging Leadership Board’s three-year goal of raising funds for the Children and Family Health Institute. The Board aims to raise a total of $75,000, which will support the Institute’s programs and services for families in need of health care and health education. The Institute is home to 17 unique programs that serve 56,000 families annually by strengthening relationships, and helping to build life skills essential to learning, health, social and emotional development, as well as create new pathways out of poverty.

OAK HILL ACADEMY STUDENTS EARN TOP HONORS IN NATIONAL LATIN EXAM
National Latin Exam 8th grade Gold Medal Winners
Latin is perceived by some to be a “dead language”, but not for many of the finest schools in the world, including Oak Hill Academy in Lincroft. There is evidence that students who take Latin do better than their classmates in the areas of reading comprehension, vocabulary, critical thinking, and problem solving. This is precisely why Oak Hill students have taken Latin since the school’s inception in 1981. Approximately 149,000 students from all 50 states and 16 foreign countries recently participated in the 2017 National Latin Exam. Receiving highest honors and gold medals and summa cum laude certificates (answering 36-40 correct) for the eighth grade class were Nicholas Geissler (Middletown) with a perfect score (less than 1% of all students in the World); Mason Garber (Colts Neck), Sydney Yan (Holmdel), Grant D’Orsi (Leonardo), Sebastian Basile (Middletown) and Charlotte Walsh (Fair Haven). Anneliese Auleta (Holmdel), Brett Servilla (Rumson), Alyssa Lopez (Tinton Falls) and Kara Pietrowicz (Freehold) received silver medals and maxima cum laude certificates for scoring 33-35 correct out of 40; while Simar Arora (Marlboro), Elizabeth Lee (Marlboro), Sebastian Marchese (Colts Neck), Lucas Ligato
(Lincroft) and Kushal Bhattacharyya (Marlboro) received magna cum laude certificates (31-32 correct). Jason Rich (Atlantic Highlands), William Hurley (Monmouth Beach) and Jordan Codispoti (Holmdel) received cum laude certificates (29-30). OHA seventh grade students, Molly Jain (Red Bank) and Alex Mitchell (Red Bank) were two of the less than 2% of all students in the World to have Perfect Papers (40/40) on the Introduction to Latin Exam! Classmates Aarya Doshi (Hazlet), Cakie Dym (Rumson), Addy Basile (Middletown), Elizabeth Wright (Fair Haven), Maria Giannakopoulos (Colts Neck), Samantha AbdelBarry (Wall), Daniel Mooney (Red Bank), Justin Weber (Middletown) and Shane Gazdus (Rumson) each earned a purple ribbon and an outstanding achievement certificate on the Introduction to Latin exam by scoring 35 to 39 correct. Receiving achievement certificates (30-34) in the seventh grade were William Attardi (West Long Branch), Pierce Blankenbaker (Colts Neck), Adam Holden (Locust), Rahul Kavuru (Holmdel), Christopher Skelton (Millstone Twp.), Ansh Kulkarni (Howell) and Paige Lane (Middletown). The National Latin Exam is offered under the joint sponsorship of the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League. The ACL/NJCL National Latin Exam has been approved by the National Association of Secondary School Principals and placed on the Advisory List of National Contests and Activities. Oak Hill Academy has participated in the exam and has consistently won awards for the last twenty-eight years. Much of the credit goes to Oak Hill Academy’s Latin teacher, Miss Samantha Lewent, who prepared her students so well.
RANNEY MIDDLE SCHOOL WINS BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP Ranney Middle School’s Baseball Team earned the Shore Athletic League title in June with a 6-4 defeat over Union Beach. The team was seeded #1 heading into the championship playoffs, beating Keansburg in a three-inning mercy rule game (12-2). This is the second year in a row the team, led by Coach Tori Principe, has led in the playoffs. The title game was held on Ranney’s Tinton Falls campus. “Our players have worked extremely hard all season to get to the point we are at now. Between bad weather, limited field availability, and reduced practice time, the kids have continued to get better, work hard, and demonstrate what it means to be a Ranney Panther both on and off the field. We are proud to have brought home the title this team has been working for the past three years.” Players include: Joseph Arege of Little Silver, Krishan Bhatnagar of Colts Neck, Deven Bhatnagar of Colts Neck, Julian Buchman of Marlboro, Charles Chropuvka of Middletown,

HOLY CROSS SCHOOL
ESTABLISHES SCHOLARSHIP IN HONOR OF ATHLETIC DIRECTOR The Holy Cross School Sports Awards Dinner is an annual event hosted by the Booster Club and PTA to honor the talent and dedication of student athletes and their coaches. Many awards are given, including Most Valuable Player, Most Improved Player, and the Coach’s Award in each JV and Varsity sport for both boys and girls. This year a new award was created in honor of long time Athletic Director Michael Feerst. The Mike Feerst Scholar Athlete Award is a scholarship given to two Grade 8 students, one boy and one girl, who have demonstrated excellence in both academics and Varsity athletics and who have chosen to attend Catholic high schools. The inaugural award was given to Kate Bagnell of Rumson, who is an Honor Roll student and received Most Valuable Player Awards for Varsity girls’ basketball and track and the Coach’s Award for Varsity girls’ soccer. She will attend Red Bank Catholic High School next year. John Straley of Holmdel won the boys’ scholarship. He is an Honor Roll student and also received Most Improved Player Awards in both Varsity boys’ basketball and Varsity boys’ soccer. He will attend Christian Brothers Academy next year. Mike Feerst started his career at Holy Cross in 1983. He has worked for nine Holy Cross principals and three Holy Cross Pastors. He has coached, at one time or another, every Holy Cross sports team. His summer soccer and basketball coaching clinics at Holy Cross are wildly popular with grade school athletes, drawing over 500 kids from the surrounding communities last summer. As physical education teacher, he is a favorite especially among the younger students. He encourages them to run, shout and cheer for Holy Cross in gym class, at pep rallies and on field day. As Athletic Director, he is responsible for expanding the original sports program of boys’ and girls’ basketball and boys’ soccer to include girls’ soccer, boys’ baseball, and co-ed track, cross country and tennis. As CYO Director, he keeps high school students close to their church, by organizing fun co-ed events for them to safely socialize, play sports and serve their community. When asked what this scholarship in his honor means to him, he said, “I was really in shock. I’m so honored to be part of the Holy Cross athletic family. I’m very proud of the school and what the athletes have accomplished.” The inaugural recipients of the Mike Feerst ScholarAthlete Award, John Straley of Holmdel (left) and Kate Bagnell of Rumson (middle), with Holy Cross Athletic Director Mike Feerst of Brick.

One of the Largest Garden Centers in the USA Doubles as a Fun Country Store
… right in your backyard!
If you’ve traveled outside the TriState Area you’re familiar with country stores. Warm and inviting, they offer hours of shopping fun, sweet treats, and various gifts and décor of the knick-knack variety. Owners Carmine and Danielle have taken the country store concept and created one of the largest garden centers in the country with their newly opened Maple Leaf Farms Country Store and Garden Center in Manalapan.

A sister store to their Holmdelbased Maple Leaf Gardens, the new location offers more than 300 acres of shrubs and trees, a spacious greenhouse of flowers, both tropical and perennial, and 135-acre garden center. But it’s the Country Store with its fun and fanciful gifts that makes this local grower one-of-a-kind. “Our Country Store is a rustic retreat and a pleasurable shopping experience,” Danielle says. “It’s filled
