HEAD OF HUMAN RESOURCES Role Description: •
The Head of Human Resources works closely with management to develop and implement strategies aligned with the overall Council’s strategic plan in the following areas: succession planning, talent management, change management, organizational performance management, and training and development.
Time Commitment: 5-10 hours/week, intermittent Job Duties: •
Develops and leads the execution of tasks that support the accomplishment of department goals, objectives, and systems.

Work closely with management to develop and communicate Human Resources and council-wide policies and procedures.

Develop and direct the implementation of policies and procedures that ensure compliance with health and safety and other statutory regulations. Directs the preparation and maintenance of reports as necessary to carry out the functions of the department. Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested, to track strategic goal accomplishments. Research and identify training opportunities for volunteers/members.

Conduct check-in meetings with volunteers/members.

Responsible for overseeing and managing responsibilities of the HR Coordinator (primarily focused on recruitment).

Responsible for overseeing a social committee that works towards promoting a high level of morale and motivation. Develop strategies towards cultivating strong rapport with volunteers/members.
•
Conducts investigations when concerns/complaints are raised by volunteers/members.
•
Reviews, guides, and approves management recommendations for disciplinary action and termination.
•
Reviews appeals.
•
Oversight of member timesheets.
•
Developing trainings for the organization’s memebers.
•

Stong supervisory and leadership skills. Experience with non-profits is an asset.

Familiarity using Slack is an asset, but not required.
•
Knowledgeable about local climate issues and climate action.
