What’s going on at the UPV Chamber!

History of Tri County Area FCU

In July of 1949, eight employees of the Firestone Rubber Company in Pottstown pledged five dollars apiece and signed an organizational certificate with the Federal Security Agency, the regulator for credit unions at that time. The organization certificate was approved on August 11, 1949, and Firestone #336 FCU was created with $40.00 in assets. After the Firestone plant closed, the credit union became a community-chartered credit union for the three Pottsgrove townships and was renamed Pottsgroves Community Federal Credit Union. After a merger with the Beth-Pottstown FCU, which had the community charter for the borough of Pottstown, the name was changed to Tri County Area FCU in July 1984. We opened our Pennsburg branch in 2007, our student branch at Pottsgrove High School in 2009, and our student branch at Pottstown High School in 2013

Today, the credit union serves people who live, work, worship, or go to school in forty-one townships and boroughs. Our assets have grown from that original $40 to $183.8 million today.

One of my favorite things to look out for in The Valley is the rotation of food trucks! There are sooo many delicious trucks that visit many small businesses in the area. Perkiomen Valley Brewing, Simple Days Beer, and the Valleys community events often feature food trucks. Honestly if you think about it, food trucks are always moving to new locations, so hunting them down is basically exercise. That means they’re healthy for you, so hop to it and go eat something delicious. That’s an order!

This month I sampled one of my all time favorite food trucks for you all, (it was hard work so you’re welcome) Cousins Maine Lobster. Their menu features Lobsters, rolls, tacos, grilled cheeses, chowders, bisque soup and quesadillas! I indulged with the Lobster Tacos, as it’s my favorite item on their menu! They are sixteen dollars and full of cabbage, pico de gallo, jalapenos, a cilantro lime cream sauce and overflowing with lobster meat! I believe you get the most bang for your buck with the tacos. Look at this entire claw that was in one of the delicious tacos. Look. at. It. I’m drooling. I like to add a little extra pop of flavor by getting an extra side of butter, and squeezing fresh lime on them. The taste is immaculate. Dang, now I want some lobster tacos and I’m writing this at 9:30 am on a Monday morning…

Well if you’re anything like me and the thought of Lobster really got your claws clacking, I highly suggest hunting down one of the many Cousins Maine Lobster trucks. The company started in 2012 in L.A. with the hopes to bring fresh Maine Lobster to different areas of the country and grew famous with their appearance on Shark Tank! Yum!

And finally, if you guys have any favorite food trucks in the area and are oh so tasty, send their info my way! I would love to sample and taste them now that the warm weather is ramping up, and get some more reviews going here! But for now, go get some Lobster Tacos, tell them Tor sent ya!
