November is Alzheimer’s disease and Home Care awareness month. In the Unites States, there is over 5.4 million Americans afflicted with Alzheimer’s. The disease not only impacts the individual suffering from the illness, but the entire family experiences the devastating grip of the disease. Caring for a loved one with the disease can be an overwhelming and a daunting task. There is no known cure for the Alzheimer’s disease, but until then, Family Caregivers Network can provide the support, education, and specialized care for a beloved family member to stay at home. Family Caregivers Network has been in Pennsburg for 19 years. Licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Founder Gerry Fioriglio and her dedicated staff is committed to providing exceptional care to patients and their family members. Gerry is a registered nurse with over 35 years of specializing in Home Care. As a Geriatric Care Manager and a Certified Dementia Care Practitioner, Gerry assists families who are in need of planning long term care for their family members. She helps guide families in making tough decisions for aging loved ones.

Caring for a family member with Alzheimer’s is a demanding labor of love and often leads to Caregiver burnout. It’s a genuine disorder that ultimately leads family caregivers to overlook their own physical, mental and emotional needs. Family Caregiver’s knows the benefit of talking to others to release the weight from the demanding labor of caregiving. That is why they host Caregiver Support Groups for anyone caring for an aging loved one. These groups are free and offer a safe space to share and seek advice. The sessions offer practical information and emotional guidance. In addition, they offer educational programs free to the community. These programs cover a variety of topics to help families understand the aging process and to become aware of resources that are available to them.
