This special performance will be raising funds for Social Enterprise DiabeticDiva and Diabetes UK, the UK’s leading diabetes charity.

Why this event Recently released diabetes figures state 3 million people in UK have diabetes. Diabetes has the potential to not only kill but to restrict quality of life by the many associated complications people with diabetes face. Black Minority Ethnic (BME) communities are particularly vulnerable. The Diabetes National Service Framework and the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) both support and recommend education programmes for people with diabetes starting at the time of diagnosis. Diabetes UK as the UK’s leading diabetes charity, partners with Social Enterprises such as DiabeticDiva to deliver this service. DiabeticDiva through its ‘Let’s Cook for Diabetes’ project will run a series of 6 week workshops aimed at raising levels of awareness, prevention and care, encouraging healthy eating and improving lifestyles. Funds raised from the concert the Summertime Gala Concert will facilitate this .
