INTRODUCTION

S

ome of the best licensed trade premises in the world are in Scotland, and some of the safest. This publication showcases the winners of Scotland’s Best Bar None Awards. Every establishment is a recipient of either a bronze, silver of gold award. This means that these award winning establishments are safe and well run, and give a good standard of customer care. The Best Bar None Awards, which have been running for the past seven years, focus on safety and customer care, and are an integral part of the Safer Areas Initiatives within Scotland. The criteria for the awards are set in consultation with government and the alcohol industry at a national level, with awarded venues permitted to display a Best Bar None plaque. The aim of the scheme is to provide a more welcoming city and town centre environment. We hope you find this magazine useful when it comes to planning a night or day out. You can also find the publication online at bestbarnonescotland.co.uk or at dramscotland.co.uk And finally I would like to say thank you to a few people who really went out of their way to make this publication possible. They are Morag Beattie, Matt Ronan, Eleanor Lee, Ian Campbell, Mark Baird and Emma McDonald. Susan Young Publisher
