António Zambujo is the biggest star in Portugal’s contemporary music firmament, carving out a distinct musical path between fado and the traditional music of Alentejo. The rhythmic influence of Brazilian popular music has also played a key role in his work, and his latest album Até Pensei Que Fosse Minha is a tribute to the songs of Chico Buarque, one of Brazil’s greatest singer-songwriters. Having premiered this new show in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre in Brazil, he brings the Chico Buarque songbook to London for the first time. The concert will also include favourites from Zambujo’s earlier albums. Support comes from Juanita Euka singing a soulful acoustic set drawing on her Congolese Argentine heritage.
