The Wedding Issue (Be Married To Your Craft) Hello #CompleteFashionistas, welcome to our special edition dedicated to WEDDINGS. We know how daunting preparing for a wedding can be all the details that have to go into it. In preparing for this issue, we brain-stormed on a few cover personality choices, analyzing suitability, popularity, social presence, and sheer guts to wear a wedding dress or two. Our session brought up many names, but the singular name everyone agreed on was social media maven, Toke Makinwa. To complete our wedding issue we needed a take home to mama kind of guy, relevant in today’s market and of course very handsome – it was a no-brainer going for DJ Xclusive (Rotimi Alakija) brother to one of the best Nigerian wedding photographers, Jide Alakija. Everyone who knows Xclusive is aware of his ‘vain’ nature. He is that guy who’ll photograph himself from different angles – after we trained our photographer’s lens on him; we honestly can’t blame this fun-loving guy for always ‘feeling himself ’. The superstar DJ was great fun to work with -and the pictures prove he had the best time working with us. Read about our superstar DJ in Xclusively Married to the Art of Music (page 52). For this edition, we thought to give all of you something special for FREE, so we asked Superstar DJ Xclusive to make a special mix for Complete Fashion’s first wedding issue ever. Here are the songs on the mix; Flavour / Chidinma – Ololufe; Flavour - Ada Ada; Reekado Banks – Katapot, Banky - Yes /No; P Square - I Love You; Di’ja – Awww; Phyno / Flavour - Authe; Banky W - Good Good Loving; Patoranking - Happy Day; D’Banj - Fall in Love; Seyi Shay - Murda; Tiwa Savage - Kele Kele; Tiwa Savage - Love me, Love me; D’Banj - Scapegoat; Davido - Ayie; Flavour – Adanna; Duncan MightyObianuju; Omawumi - Bottom Belle; Chidinma - Kedike; Yemi Alade - Kissing; WIZKID - Pakurumo; Tiwa Savage – Eminado; Ice Prince – Oleku; Davido – Ekuro; Naeto C - 5and 6; Tiwa Savage - My Darling; Sean Tizzle - Perfect Gentleman; D’Banj - Bother You; Skuki FT Tiwa Savage – Gbemileke, Cynthia Morgan - Don’t Break My Heart; Kcee - Fine Face; Chidinma - Oh Baby (remix); Korede Bello - Godwin; P square – Collabo; Dr Victor Olaiya ft 2face - Baby Mi Da. DOWNLOAD the Complete Fashion Xclusive Mix only on completefashion.org. Enjoy anywhere, anytime and According to X, when the music hits you, you feel no pain. Visit completefashion.org/Magazine to download YOURS. Details, Details, Details. I LOVE details. I believe it’s the little details that matter. It’s the detail that

expresses one’s personal style the most even more than the outfit. So, we’ve captured everything you need to know when preparing for your wedding. For the newly engaged who is unsure of which dress style would suit your shape, see page 12; pick wisely. Colours are a big deal when it comes to weddings, make yours one of the year’s biggest fashion colours – see our colour palette and be inspired (page13 – 16). When you are getting married, it’s all about shopping, shopping and more shopping – we have everything covered from rings (Rock of Ages page 17), bejewelled accessories, the most gorgeous shoes for the bride - see other colours we recommend besides white in Feetspiration (page 20). Wedding guests aren’t left out, we have over 30 dresses worthy of winning the best dressed guest award (Shine Bright page 22). For men, it’s all about the details (Shopping Guide Accessories for the GROOM, BESTMAN & GUEST – page 49), from our sartorial choices of colours for grooms’ suits (page 46) and shoes fit for kings No Ordinary Shoes (page 48) to our style etiquette in Understanding the dress code in accordance to the invitation given (page 50). Now to one of my favourite parts of this issue - GELEs. During the making of this issue I met make-up artist & gele expert, Funmi Olurinola of AbekeMakovers (thanks to Onah Nwachukwu, Editor of Hello! Nigeria) and I was enthralled. It’s her energy, her attitude to her craft, her hunger for more knowledge, her business nous that got me. As you’ll see in my pictures I’m wearing one of her Avant-Garde Icon Geles which I TOTALLY love; I can’t wait to wear it to an official engagement like a wedding. The Icon gele is the absolute new way to wear your gele – (page 62) for her one-off designs. Following this, we share different geles in aso-oke you can try as a bride plus make-up ideas. For men, look out for Kaftans & Agbadas in minimalist designs by one of Nigeria’s emerging menswear designers – see page 59. Our sister publication, BEAUTY BOX (pages 31-42) presents Nigeria’s runway darling, #AfricanBeauty, model Bunmi Ademokoya (Isis Models) in its first wedding issue sharing everything about bridal beauty; getting that wedding glow plus a guide on wearing natural hair for your wedding - #NaturalSister, Kemi Lewis of KLS Salon shares some tips (page 36). Men aren’t left out as we share tips on Grooming the Groom to ensure they look their best. Remember, we are still in the trade of educating you in the business of fashion through FASHION 101, thanks to one of Nigeria’s renowned designers, Ituen Basi & friends. Fashion 101 is part of the intoFASHION initiative that educates designers experienced or aspiring on everything there is to know about fashion from concept to sales in Nigeria (see page 66). Fashion isn’t just about creating designs; it’s also about selling your designs, that’s what makes you successful. I LOVE Zubby Eneoma of @ZubbyDefinition, hair stylist extraordinaire, who magically transformed Toke’s gorgeous teal mane into fabulous wedding hair styles. And lastly but never the least, a BIG thank you to Zaron Cosmetics – the whole team, for always carving out time for us, no matter the weather. Never late & always professional. Kisses. My new favourite mascara, brings out even the tiniest lash creating extreme volume and curl. It’s like wearing that pair of sexy black stilettos. I can swear by it. MAC Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash

I’m not big on lip pencils; I tend to wear my lip glosses and lipsticks without any lines. Abeke insisted I try this Zaron Cosmetics Prune Juice Lip Pencil in my picture and I loved the effect. It’s my newest beauty crush.

STYLING YOUR NATURAL HAIR FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY

CHANGE THE TREND AND ROCK YOUR GAME By Kemi Lewis

More and more people are ditching the relaxers and choosing to wear their hair ‘natural’ or as was said many years ago, keep their ‘virgin hair.’ Unlike years gone by, when the styling options available to ladies with natural hair was limited to threading, cornrows, didi or braids; this time around, thanks to a growing awareness, creative bursts that have taken the internet (particularly YouTube) by storm, and an ever growing ‘community’ of fearless females experimenting with styles; there is so much more available to ladies with natural hair in terms of styling options. Now, this is even more crucial when it comes to natural haired brides because for a long time it seemed there was no choice but to either wear a weave or give in and relax the hair to achieve that look worthy of the biggest day of a woman’s life (or so they say). However, with more options available, and more ladies coming out of their comfort zones more willing to try out different things,

there isn’t a better time to let your personality shine through your hair style than on your wedding day. As with any style, it is important that your hair has been washed, deep conditioned, moisturized and sealed (using a water based moisturizer and a natural oil/butter afterwards to seal in the moisture) - this will not only prevent manipulation breakage when the styling process is taking place but will also go a long way to ensure your styles come out looking better! There is nothing appealing about dull frizzy hair, and that certainly has no place amongst the glitz and glamour of the rest of your wedding repertoire! Bearing that in mind, here are a few absolutely beautiful styles that can be tried out on natural hair for your ‘Big Day’ Visit Kemi’s Salon: KL’s Natural Beauty Bar - 29C Ikorodu Crescent, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi.

LOOKBOOK

Emerging Nigerian Menswear Designer JZO’s ‘Babatunde’ 2015 Collection Minimalism meets Kaftans & Agbadas JZO’s first 2014 collection DU NORD gave us a new appreciation for traditional Nigerian menswear. His newest collection titled, BABATUNDE is inspired by the legendary Yoruba belief of rebirth ‘Atunwa’, which implies that the original essence of our ancestors may indeed be reborn in a new form retaining its wisdom. The collection reflects a fabled journey of the Yoruba people from the Nile Valley to South-Western Nigeria. Staying true to the minimalist aesthetic that has come to define JZO, the BABATUNDE collection comprises what is best described as playful Kaftan/Buba hybrids and smart Agbada pieces with very simple embroidery patterns, graphic necklines in an earth-tone colour palette, a mix of browns punctuated by vibrant shades of blue and burgundy.
