Evolving Change they say is the only constant thing in life and one cannot truly evolve without change. As we all know, the world went from being analogue to digital in the blink of an eye, and as such we all now live our lives through our handheld devices. That’s the present age we now live in. Just like fashion and everything else that evolves, Complete Fashion has evolved over time. From 2005 when the magazine’s maiden issue was printed to 2009 when it first evolved into the large sized magazine everyone came to love, it wasn’t long before we started spotting imitations of the magazine down to the size, look and feel. Complete Fashion today, has become more than just a magazine. It has transformed into a 360 degrees’ media fashion hub with an advanced website which carries fashion videos, a digital version of the magazine which can easily be downloaded from the website and of course, a healthy social media presence. All of these have been designed to provide our fashionistas with up to date and sensational fashion content. Which brings me to the matter at hand, what we have in store for you this month. In this issue, our focus is mainly on the rainy days ahead and a little bit of summer. While the denim trend is back as you all know, what we have done is give a little guideline on how to make your denim look stand out from other fashionistas. Another area that has become a movement and the go-to place for everything is social media. In those days you would have said google, right? Well, now it’s Instagram and so it should not come as a surprise that we have taken a few tips from instabloggers. @fisayolonge shows us how to

rock the ‘All Black Look’, while @ styleismything schools us on how to rock bright colours in ‘Bloggers Guide to Wearing the Bold Colour trend’, talk about the synergy between fashion and technology. Another interesting article highlights colour tones every woman should have in her closet this season. I’m particularly in love with white but ever so often, I switch things up a bit with green or mustard, I think I look great in them and so you need to choose the colours that work best for you from our ’Colour-Eidoscope’ in page 14. We are excited about our third cover, the latest addition to our story of evolution. This cover will from now on feature talents from all sectors. Just think of it as a lifestyle segment of the magazine. Our first cover is Liz Osho who married her dashing groom Tosin, in an intimate wedding ceremony in Maryland, U.S.A. I fell in love with her second dress by Legendary Fashion Designer, Yemi Koshiba, you must look out for it. Speaking of designers, it is common knowledge that we, Nigerians hold multiple talents and so it was interesting to speak to our female cover talent, Mo’Cheddah about her new clothing line. As with projects old and new, it has come with it’s challenges but this young lady is determined to stay focused and push no matter the odds. Our boisterous male cover, Reekado Banks was also a joy to work with. From beginning to the end of the shoot, his energy was way up there and boy did we all have a good laugh. Both stories are a must read. With lots of exciting new developments and many more projects to come, we hope you enjoy the new layout and content of the ever evolving Complete Fashion.

“Forever and Always” REPORT BY TENI OLUWO

enim is officially the "uniform of the world" . Its relevance over decades has grown exponentially and this proves how irreplaceable denim is. With it's inexhaustible styles, silhouettes and ability to transcend from comfortable choice for running errands to "jaw-dropping" glamorous piece, denim is certainly a staple for anyone's wardrobe. From Chic dresses , fierce jackets , overalls and of course a stretch of various kinds of denim trousers; everyone regardless of shape or size, can find something to flatter their figure. The best part is you do not have to feel guilty when you splurge on denim as they are always in trend. I know they say "diamond is a woman's best friend" but nothing pleases the soul better than a pair of perfectly fitted denim. cf

Gozel

Green Creativity Inspired by Folklore

Report by Cynthia Ejike

I

n the circle of up and coming fashion designers in Nigeria, some names reign supreme and one of such is the Gozel Green fashion owned by twin sisters, Olivia and Silvia Enekewe. With ideas so fresh, artistic, bold, daring and timeless, the Gozel Green fashion is giving the pros a run for their stitches. Rising from humble beginnings, Silvia and Olivia triggered their love for fashion by playing with left over scraps from their mother’s work table. As they watched their UK trained Fashion Designer mother draw, sketch and put various overwhelming fabrics together for her brand ‘Chioma New York’, the idea to become fashion designers blossomed and took root. Having grown up with the complete fashion experience that included well planned out inspiration boards, diverse fabric swatches, labels, and not forgetting their father’s love for creativity, the duo officially got launched into the fashion industry in 2010. Daddy’s folklores and poems became a huge inspiration for the sisters as they strove to weave stories into their fabric

Their dream of breaking into the fashion industry finally paid off when they participated in the GTBank Fashion and Design Week 2014 and were shortlisted as part of the 15 top Fashion Focus Finalists (2014). From then on, it was a steady ride upwards. Having a great flare for folklore, Gozel Green themed their Spring Summer collections (2015 and 2016), and ready to wear 2015 collection after their father’s poems and novels- Broken Pots and Other Stories, Come Thunder and Marching to Kilimanjaro. Having been mentioned and nominated in different categories - Jaguar Lagos Fashion Awards (Emerging designer of the year, 2015), Vogue Italia Mentions (2014 and 2015) and as one of the six standout collection at the last Lagos Fashion and Design Week by Daria Shapovalova, Gozel Green fashion has carved a comfortable niche for itself. But so far, their most precious achievement is taking part in the just concluded International Fashion Showcase 2016 at Summerset House London. The twins who enjoy the energy that comes with conceptualizing, producing and showcasing their collection, revealed that their Autumn Winter collection is on the way and should be expected soon enough. store in Lagos, Nigeria and that won’t be soon enough as quite a number of celebrities and fashion icons have been spotted in Gozel Green; Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Michelle Dede, Fade Ogunro, Eku Edewor, Toke Makinwa, Beverly Naya, Vimbai, Mo’chedda, Zara Okpara and a host of others. Themed in folklore and featuring contrasting vibrant hues, bold print, intricate designs with that ever present rustic feel, Gozel Green is now the to-go fashion for the young, successful, fashion-conscious burgeoning middle and upper middle class cf

One could really run into a rut trying to describe Modupe-Oreoluwa Oyeyemi Ola because what you see is definitely not what you get. Displaying the bubbly and vivacious side of her that normally stays hidden during video and photo shoots; young, smart and soulful Mo’cheddah pushed beyond the boundaries as she welcomes Complete Fashion to share her story.

up a beat, Mo who writes most of her songs explained that an artiste can experience really bad and unexplainable dry spells. “In music, you can have a dry spell which may last up to two years. Sometimes it takes a year to write a song. You can write a song in five minutes or a year. ‘Survive’ took a year.” Though she takes pride in writing her songs, the ever realistic Mo pointed out that, “As an artiste, you don’t really know it all. It’s ok to seek another person’s opinion. I am co-writing my new album with a couple of writers like Mosa. He is an amazing song writer. He is an old soul like me. We are stuck in the same music era. Working with Mosa is refreshing. I have co-written with Cobams as well. I am also working with like Lara. She is amazing.” On what criteria she uses to feature artistes, she goes, “Some songs require some type of artistes. I only look for the person that would best tell the story I want to tell. It’s about picking an artist that is best suited for the song. The collective goal is always the song not the artist.” With an archive overflowing with tracks, this star reveals that, “Sometimes, I record almost a hundred songs and then I pick just 12 or 10. For my first album, I recorded over 60 songs.”

FORAY INTO FASHION

While Mo’cheddah became a sensation in the music industry with fans following her every tweet and instagram update, the unstoppable Mo landed another surprise, she came up with her clothing line. She explains the idea behind it. “The passion behind my clothing line is to make young girls know that they can be beautiful on a budget”. The purpose for this clothing line is not to make money, it is to inspire. My outfits are cheap. They are between N5, 000 and N15, 000. The only reason it is up to 15,000 is because the fabrics are expensive. So you are getting value for your money.” She continues, “It’s so annoying when you go into a store and you see a top for N20, 000. It’s sad because all the cute looking clothes are expensive and young girls now would do anything to look that good. And that’s the hard truth.” She expressed regret that her clothing line is yet to be launched citing some unforeseen delays: “there are so many things I am waiting for in this collection. I’m waiting for buttons, I’m waiting for zips, I am waiting for so many machines, I’m waiting for documents, and I’m waiting for so many things to fall in place. I didn’t think it was going to be this complicated. The structure is taking a while and people are getting impatient”. Owing to the exasperating situation, she quickly reformed her plans, “I had wanted to work on the whole collection and put them out

for sale but now I am going to start releasing per outfit. We are going to start with one outfit at a time. I would make an outfit and put it out. The ones that are ready are going on sale soon. I’m also scheduled to start releasing some looks for this collection. I’m not going to let the buttons hold me back.” She is quite certain that her fashion line will be an instant hit because, “All my clothes can be re-worn in different ways. Another thing my clothing line will do is teach you how to wear your clothes in many different ways to make it look different. If you buy a dress, we could tell you, you can wear it like this or with that. And again, some outfits would come with little manuals on different ways to wear the outfit and what to pair them with”.

MENTORING

Apart from music and fashion, Mo also has another passion. “I usually do public speaking in secondary schools. I’ve been doing this since my career started. I am always going to secondary schools to give talks. The girls confide in me, they speak to me. They know a lot about what’s going on and they feel that I understand, maybe because I am also young and I understand what they are going through. When I was 18, I would go to secondary schools; if it is a boarding school, I’d stay the whole weekend so I can wake up with the girls. We wake up, we talk, you tell me what you are going through and I advise you. “I wasn’t wearing makeup when I was 16-yearsold. In fact, I only wear makeup for a shoot. I go for my interviews barefaced except I have a photo shoot. But now you see 15 year olds, 16 year olds all glammed up just to go to school. The main reason for this is that people tend to see you before you speak. How you look matters more to people now.” She says. “I won’t say don’t wear makeup, you are too young etc. No, wear makeup if you want to but use your brain and have some values. You don’t have to beg and do all sorts of things to get that cute top”. I make young girls look cute and beautiful through my clothing line, but I’ll also make them smart, have depth and be grounded.” And she is not obsessed with the media like her fans think. “This part of me is not in the media because it is dear to me and it is something I just do. If the school decides to put it in the media, it is fine, but I would not do it.” “When I give a talk, there are no cameras and there are no teachers. There was a time I was giving a talk in this particular school and I told the teachers to leave because I noticed that the girls were not participating. The teachers left and you will be amazed at all the things they said.” Trust Mo’cheddah who always loves to push the boundaries, she is not limiting her talks to teenagers, “I don’t only talk to young girls; I also talk with women on how to develop >>

a v i n g shot into limelight in 2007, Mo’cheddah has since carved a comfortable niche for herself in the Nigeria m u s i c i n d u s t r y. She fondly remembers how it all started. “I was supposed to be like a child star at twelve but God didn’t do it till I became sixteen. Funny enough, the music I made then sounds same now. But now I’m more inspirational, stronger, and wiser; and I know better. I am very creative and diverse that was why it was hard for me to pick what I wanted to do because I knew I could do almost anything. I could rap if I wanted to, sing, dance, I could do just anything. This music diva whose musical career officially kicked off at age 16 couldn’t help but admit that her style of music has experienced a subtle change along the line and she feels the reason is because, “I am a very fluid person. I go where life takes me. I dwell in the moment. When life throws me challenges, change and growth, I adapt. I don’t hold on to anything, I move on quick, and that is the same with my music. My music is spiritual, soulful and in the moment. Usually I go into the studio, speak to my producer, and he would say, ‘what do you want us to do today’? He plays a couple of beats; I pick it and start to write my song. Sometimes I don’t even believe I wrote those songs because they sound so good. I make music that speaks to me. I want to believe that anything I can relate to, people can relate to it also.” Produced under her record label Cheddah Music, Mo’Cheddah’s latest single ‘Bad’ which features YBNL Olamide caused more than a little stir. Funny enough, the song came up by chance. “Bad was so natural. I went to play with Olamide; he is my friend. We were just playing around, I wasn’t going to record. He plays this beautiful beat and I was in a rapping mood that day, even down to the way I was dressed was all hip-hop. And it just happened. I love that song.” This sultry songstress claims that this was not a strange occurrence as, more often than not, music happens spontaneously for her. “My music is spontaneous most of the time. I could be sitting here with you one minute and the next minute I have to rush off to the studio. It’s a feeling and mood kind of thing and, I think that is the best kind of music to make”. Despite her schedule that keeps getting fuller as the days go by, Mo’Cheddah still has time to be domesticated. “I can cook and clean from now till forever.” She went ahead to gush about her love for cooking and experimenting. “I love to experiment with food. Now, I am cooking

Jamaican meals. I am cooking oxtail soups and Jamaican rice, with this jollof mixture they have. I love to create and for me cooking is like creating. There is this soup I discovered, I used scent leave, ‘uziza’ and ‘ogiri’ to make it, even though nobody does that, but it tasted so good.” Being a graduate of Theater Art, one wonders if her face is going to pop up in the movies one of these days, but Mo put a lid on that. “I can’t do everything now. I can act but I don’t want to act because acting is a time consuming skill. You have to be on set for months. I can’t afford it. I can’t add it to my work load.” >>

themselves, that good health is as little as drinking water, eating vegetables, teaching them how to wear their make up quickly. I am all for looking good. I am not a fan of looking like what you are going through”. This fashionista also let it slip that she is into makeup as well. “I am also working on my makeup line. I am starting with lip taint, eyebrow pencils, lashes, and lip liner. But I don’t want to go into the powder and foundation yet, because I want to start with what I can control. It’s going to be a lot of work mixing my music, clothing and makeup line. I want to be there through every

Well, at the end of the day, every hard working person deserves to relax. For the 25 year old Mo’cheddah, family time is the ideal relaxation for her. “I cherish time I spend at home. I cherish when my girlfriends come over and we have a sleepover and we talk and talk and talk. I cherish the time I spend with my boyfriend, my mum, my niece and nephew. I just cherish family and friends time. I cook, we eat and watch TV”. Sultry Mo’cheddah has gone ahead to win lots of awards starting from the 2010 MTVAfrica Music Awards (MAMAs) down to the Channel O AVMA award for collaboration track with a Ghanaian artist in the Most Gifted African West Music Video Category for ‘Falling down’ to being the Most Stylish artist in the female category of the 2012 edition of the Fabulous African Black (FAB) Awards. In all these, she cites God as her helper and inspiration. “I am a very God fearing person. The reason I stand, live and breathe is because of God. God works for me every day, I see his hand in my life and I am grateful.” >>

ringing fashion closer home, this exceptionally stylish artiste describes her must have fashion item to be, “White. I love white. When you see me in all white, that means that I am having a great day. I love wearing tight clothing, especially since I started working out. I equally like to wear heels. I love heels because I am small.” That she has her picks does not mean that she hates other stuffs, “I love clothes. Nothing really makes me uncomfortable.” While for most people, travelling and touring is a hobby, the story isn’t the same for Mo who reveals, “I don’t like travelling. I get air sick when I fly. Air travel is the most painful thing I go through in my job. It’s so painful, my ears are burning, my throat is pulsing, my head aches and it literally feels like there are pins in my brain and ears. One time I cried on a flight to Abuja, the thing is, I don’t like to use drugs to knock me out or make me drowsy. I don’t like flying but it happens.” Though flying is a nightmare for her, Mo’Cheddah still has her favourite watering hole. “I love South Africa a lot. I have gone there so many times and now I have family there. My adopted Godmother stays there and I have friends there as well. Though I don’t really like their food, but I love the people. I love shopping and I love the view. I am so happy there”. From her new album that is set to be released, to her clothing and makeup line, ModupeOreoluwa Oyeyemi Ola aka Mo’cheddah plans to be in the news for a very long time.cf

I am also commited to people with African Interests, may be non-Africans who for one reason or the other are more African in outlook than even the real Africans! For instance, I have seen people, children of expatriates, who were born and grew up in Africa and became fashion designers, who can’t find a market in the western world for their African inspired collections. Africa Fashion Week is planned to be a place of convergence for such people and those looking for their products.

MAYOWA NICHOLAS STARS IN DOLCE & GABBANA’S 2017 RESORT COLLECTION CAMPAIGN Right after she got bestowed the title of Elite Model Look Nigeria in 2014, it has been a forward ever success and accomplishment ride for the now 18-year-old Mayowa Nicholas. From strutting the runways in major fashion weeks across the world to being recognized by both local and international media platforms; she has carved a niche for herself in the very competitive fashion/ modeling industry and we couldn’t be happier for her. Just recently, she added a great number to her budding list of feats, which is a feature in fashion powerhouse, Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall Winter 2016-2017 advertising campaign making her the first Nigerian model to ever be enlisted. The campaign was shot by world-renowned photographer, Franco Pagetti in Naples.

AFRICABA Africaba, was born from the charitable collaboration between Christian Louboutin, his longtime friend Valérie Schlumberger and women of La Maison Rose, to help give back in style.

FASHION TARGETS BREAST CANCER CAMPAIGN

At La Maison Rose, women learn the traditional Senegalese skill of embroidery, ensuring them a trade and comfortable future. Exhibiting resourcefulness merged with innate artistic flair, the hand embroidered work of the women of La Maison Rose is fused with the skill of the house of Christian Louboutin to create the Africaba. This soft bodied shopper is dressed in a vibrant palette of traditional African prints and finished with leather handles lined in Loubi red, accented by colorful beads and signature spikes. Inspired by the spirit of the partnership, Christian Louboutin is delighted to contribute ten percent of proceeds to benefit La Maison Rose’s programs through the Company of Senegal and West Africa (CSAO). Founded by Valérie Schlumberger in 1995, CSAO disseminates the work of West African artisans and artists, communicating their talent in an equitable and sustainable way.

Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign was launched in 1996 in the UK. Starring in the campaign photographed by Patrick Demarchelier were the iconic super models Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss. 20 years after, these super models return to the shot as they pose to celebrate its 20th anniversary. To recreat this look, Kate and Naomi wore a plain white tee photographed this time by Mario Testino. The aim of Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign is to ensure that by 2050 there will be no more deaths from breast cancer. More so 30% of sales from the Target Breast Cancer collection is directed into breast cancer research with more than $20m raised since its launch. Kate told WWD, “Since its U.K. launch in 1996, when I first appeared in the campaign poster, Fashion Targets Breast Cancer has gone on to impact so many lives by funding vital research into this devastating disease.”

RIHANNA’S SNEAKERS BY FENTY The songstress is not slowing down as she recently made a collaborative debut released by Fenty, designing her special collection of sneakers. It is priced at N35803 and is currently available in white , black , red and gray. You can shop for them on www.us.puma.com.

The campaign has consistently had the support of some of fashion’s most influential faces, with the likes of Claudia Schiffer, Elle Macpherson and Erin O’Connor joining Campbell and Moss in wearing the circula logo T-shirt synonymous with the campaign.

VICTORIA SECRET REMOVES SWIM WEAR. The world famous lingerie brand Victoria Secret is considering removal of swim wear from its collection and stores to focus on athleisures. Rumores suggest that the action to end swim wear could happen before the end of 2016, although no official statement has been made from its parent company L Brands in confirmation or denial of the suggestion. The brand’s recently departed CEO, Sharen

Jester Turney said: “Swim has been my biggest disappointment.” This wouldn’t be the first time that the brand had eliminated a category to refocus its attention; its ready-to-wear apparel was removed from stores and online in the last few years to focus on lingerie, while cosmetics has also survived the cull of particular lines within the range. How to Stay Stylish on Your Lazy days Report By Jennifer Obiuwevbi Have you ever been in one of those awkward situations where you don’t feel like wearing makeup or dressing up, and then you run into that hot neighbour you’ve been ogling, mid-taking out the trash? Well we have, and believe us, there is no way to re-imagine that situation to make it less painful. On those special days where you just want to kick back and relax, there is the high tendency of having surprise visits from friends, or the sudden urge to eat Ice Cream, but the major problem is you can’t seem to muster the strength to change your clothes. At this point, staying put and drinking some tea looks a lot easier than searching for your ‘one nation’ maxi dress. Here’s how you can look stylish even while you are having a lazy day. 1.

Stick with the basics when it comes to selecting your clothes - just add a little pop. Try a bright coloured hoodie.

2.

The maxi dress never fails. But instead of rocking a basic maxi, try wearing one with detailing. For example your maxi could have a cinched waist, come in rich colours or a great pattern.

3.

When rocking pants, it is always best to go dark. Deep blue, black or even dark brown pants, no matter the fabric or cut, are more slimming and forgiving.

4.

When rocking clothes of different proportions, it is better to go with big tops and small bottoms. This is more for practicality than anything else, because when it’s a lazy day you tend to eat more. And who wants to walk around with a bulging tummy for everyone to see.

5.

Hair usually gets the short end of the stick on such days. Simply have your hair in a loose ponytail.

6.

No need for make-up, simply moisturize, apply loose powder and you are good to go.

7.

Footwear is kind of a grey area here. You can work with sandals or slippers, but we advise against flip-flops.

8.

Last but definitely not the least; it is always great to have a stylish bag in hand. If you’ve not yet turned into a potato on the couch, carrying a bag in a great texture or bright colour will give your look the boost it needs.

Seems like a lot of work for a lazy day right? But here’s the catch – once you get the hang of it and it becomes a part of your lazy day routine, it’ll be easier than rolling to the cooler side of the bed. cf

3-STEP APPROACH TO TREAT ACNE ON AGING SKIN

LOREM/IPSUM

A

Step 1 Cleanse Acne doesn’t need drying cleansers or bar soaps; these actually make matters worse. “Medicated” cleansers aren’t helpful either. Instead, wash your face twice daily with a silky, but effective, water-soluble cleanser formulated with gentle, soothing ingredients, and at night use clarifying wipes to be sure you get all your makeup off. If you haven’t used this method before, you’ll be amazed at how much better your skin will look and act, just from this small change! Step 2 Treat & Repair Most acne treatments (serums, gels, lotions) are lightweight (which is great for use on breakoutprone areas), and the best ones are loaded with the kinds of ingredients all skin types need to look and act younger and healthier and to help heal red marks blemishes often leave behind. Such ingredients include antioxidants, skinrepairing substances, and cell-communicating ingredients. These not only help repair signs of aging and stimulate collagen production, but also reduce redness from breakouts while helping skin healthy and fight inflammation (a major component of acne). Talk about win-win! For best results, apply twice daily, including around the eyes, after cleansing, toning, and exfoliating.

Recommended: Supplementary Acne Treatment Murad’s Pure Skin Clarifying Dietary Supplement provides internal defense against breakouts for clearer, healthier skin. Murad Products are exclusively available at all Montaigne Place Outlets

Step 3 Moisturize & Protect The challenge in finding the best anti-aging/ anti-wrinkle moisturizer for blemish-prone skin is that it must hydrate and nourish skin without feeling thick, creamy, or greasy (all of which can increase breakouts). Generally, this means you want to use a moisturizer with either a very light thin lotion feel or a gel texture loaded with antioxidants and skin identical ingredients! Your skin needs to get beneficial ingredients such as antioxidants to stimulate collagen production, anti-irritants to reduce red marks and help reduce patches of dry, flaky skin, and softening ingredients to diminish the appearance of wrinkles. No skin-care routine is complete without daily sun protection. It is essential to use a product rated SPF 30 or greater. With the right mix of products, you can take control of breakouts and signs of aging—all at the same time. The result – Healthy, BlemishFree Skin. bb

WHEN LIZ MET TOSIN HOWTHEY GOT TO

‘I DO’ STORY: IFEANYI OGBO

It was a friend’s bridal shower and Liz Awoliyi’s plan for the outing was to give a gift and celebrate with her friend who was getting married soon. But destiny had a bigger plan for Liz. Casually mentioning she was single halfway through the celebration, she got three different offers from friends who thought they had the right guy for her. Weighing her options, she found Tosin to be the most intriguing of the three and their conversation on whatsapp which began almost immediately led to a never ending river of communication.

“I also won’t forget my husband doing a sexy dance for me, jumping down into push up position as he dived into my dress for the garter. It was fun”

Dream come true

The wedding which held at The Westin,

Annapolis, Maryland, United States was literally a dream. The venue and guests were gleefully arrayed in the colour of the day, maroon and cream. Right at the upper part of the hall was the three tiered cake; the top tier was marble flavoured, the middle tier vanilla flavoured and the bottom tier chocolate seasoned. Emerging from the door with her uncle was the lovely bride, Liz, wearing her first wedding dress: a traditional wedding gown. The second dress was an absolutely stunning mermaid style gown with an embellished cape by designer extraordinaire himself, Yemi Kosibah of Kosibah Creations. Liz had dreamt of wearing a Kosibah dress for her wedding since she was 16-years-old. The most memorable part for Liz was listening to her cousin and childhood best friend sing “Jesus Loves Me” just before they said their vows. “I burst into tears, she exclaims, I had goose bumps all over and was overwhelmed. Also I won’t forget my husband doing a sexy dance for me, jumping down into push up position as he dived into my dress for the garter, it was fun!!” She adds with a burst of laughter.

Prince Charming’s side of the fairytale Tosin remembers his first meeting with Liz vividly; the drive to the restaurant, the anticipation, and the moment he laid his eyes on her. “She was stunning, I remember walking into the restaurant, seeing her and all my senses roaring alive,” he recalls. It did not take long after that for Tosin to propose. On a random unplanned day when they were meant to meet in an eatery to attend to other business, he got the inspiration that it would be the perfect time to propose, especially with the presence of some of her family members in the eatery. Bearing a cushion cut diamond ring, he got on his knee and asked one of the most >>

his is not the synopsis of the latest romantic comedy from Hollywood but the true life story of how Liz met Tosin, and how a simple Whatsapp message on an ordinary day blossomed into a fairytale romance. What was it about Tosin that made Liz realize he was the one? “It was simple, she says. He has a very caring nature and he is very open with me. I immediately felt protected. He never hid his intentions, and they were good intentions. He laid his cards out and it was left to me to accept the ride or not. There were no games whatsoever.” In less than six months after they started dating, Tosin popped the question. Keeping in line with tradition, Tosin also had to formally ask Liz’s father for his permission to marry daughter’s hand in marriage.

important questions of his lifetime. Needless to say, she said ‘yes!’

Happy day Decked in a three piece navy coloured fitted suit designed by Vera Wang, Tosin walked down the aisle with the prettiest woman in the hall. Amongst the memories of laughter, happy tears, and the three course meal served, his fondest part of the wedding was his first dance with Liz to the soulful melody of Brian McKnight’s “love of my life”. “It was such a surreal moment because I kept thinking “I’m getting married and my wife is so beautiful!”

And they lived happily ever after…. The lovebirds honeymooned at Turk and Caicos Island. The fairytale has just begun and though it’s not without its challenges, Tosin and Liz know that with an open heart, open mind, open communication and the unending grace of God, there is no battle they can’t win together. cf

Report By: Ifeanyi Ogbo and Rotimi Ajayi

here is one outfit that is present in the closet of every president, International business man, career professional and super hero (think James Bond). You guessed right- it’s a suit. A good suit is energy, it’s a vibe, it reeks of power and prestige, it’s an investment that has the potential of outliving you, it calls for respect. Here are some guides on standing out in a room full of men wearing suits:

ACCESSORIES One of the major components that set one suit above another is accessories. Accessories are the last thing on, but the first thing noticed on a suit. The most common of all accessories is the tie and it falls into three categories: the skinny, the slim and the standard. The Skinny fit is the trendier option and is suited for slimmer silhouettes and thinner suit lapels. It should be noted that the tie should always be darker than your shirt and should reach your waistband. Another trendy accessory is the pocket square. There are variety of ways in which you can make the pocket square into your own. Like the tie, there are an array of colours and styles but even more options on how they can be worn. A simple place to start is to match the colour of the square to a colour within your tie. Once that’s sorted, you can start experimenting with patterns and fabrics. From paisley to checkered, they add a little character to your suit and help add individual style to your look. One key accessory is the cuff link. Cuff links are only ever worn with French cuffs also known as double cuffs. There are many different names for the variety of cuff link styles each claiming to be the correct one. All-in-all they do the same thing. Be bold enough to experiment with these little guys. You can really show off your personality. Another cool accessory is a suspender which is a stylish way to avoid wearing a belt. Please do not wear a belt if you have suspenders on.

COLOURS Suits come in diverse colours, the first bit of information to learn is that when it comes to suits, all colours are not equal. There are certain colours that are appropriate for any occasion, and others that while suitable for one occasion would be completely out of place at another. The safest and most versatile colour is charcoal grey. It works well for formal settings and still rocks for casual events too. Navy blue is a very popular suit colour; from church halls to business meetings, this is one of the most common suit colours. However, the new trend sees men in striking colours such as burgundy and mustard. White suits give off a pristine clean vibe and are suitable for weddings and dinner parties but not the boardroom. PATTERNS Glen check is the most used pattern in men’s suits and it’s suitable for semi-formal occasions, although it can be seen in business suits but with very slight contrast in the check colors. Other suit patterns include the houndstooth, herringbone and the checked plaid. Whatever style you choose, make sure that it suits you. cf

A Signature Scent Just like a stylish wrist watch, a signature scent announces your presence. Apart from the obvious reason of smelling good, a great scent goes a long way in making a strong and lasting first impression. “You remember that guy with the really nice perfume from the other day?” –

There is a long list of things that make great first impressions; from your nails and teeth to how you smell and your posture. However, one accessory in particular that sets the right tone for a great encounter is a stylish time piece. This stylish accessory TORRES PM N262,337 tells people you pay au.louisvuitton.com attention to detail, you know quality and can be taken seriously because you know what works. And who wouldn’t want scarf that in a business or life partner.

An Uber-Stylish Tie

A strong power look is incomplete without a tie. A great tie does 3 things – it ties your look together, it provides an area of focus in your entire outfit, and gives you a stylish and professional finish that looks absolutely fabulous. In order to make a 21st Century statement, get a great looking tie that doesn’t just look the part, but also feels the part. A silk tie that comes in a popping color will definitely do the trick. Bear in mind that you don’t have to break the bank to get a tie, just tick the right boxes, and you’re good to go!

3

Sleek Scarf

The scarf is the bigger, more flexible and more laid-back alternative to the necktie – and you can make it work for you in a number of ways. When you’re not in the mood for a tie, you can get a great scarf and wrap that around your neck. This works great for lazy days, and when it’s cold outside. The key is to work with a scarf that will improve your outfit. You can use scarves that have patterns, fringe detailing, rich colours like maroon and leafy green etc.

Pair your outfit with a startling but not overwhelming colour of socks that still goes perfectly with your shoes. Fancy Shoes

It’s time to get fancy. After you’ve rocked your corporate shoes for 5 days, your slippers & sandals for after-work activities, it’s time to get fancy for that special occasion. There are many types of shoes that work in this case, but the most popular would have to be Oxford. They’re stylish, comfortable and, when worn the right way, can make a great looking outfit. We advise you go with basic colors like brown, black and deep blue, and then branch out to richer hues as you go along. cf
