Hi, my name is Carla Arcidiacono, I’m 24 years old, and I am from Sicily. I have a very trained body, as I am diligent with practicing Pilates. I am 5’ 4” and have brown hair and eyes. I’m a very friendly person, but at the same time, I’m also blunt and direct. I believe in strong values and I would like to share them here with you. I love meeting new people and searching for new experiences. I love challenges and improving myself with those experiences to help me grow both personally and professionally. I really love dancing and listening to music. I also studied in an Academy of Aesthetics because since I was a child, I was fond of beauty, and still now, I practice because it is embedded in me, it belongs to me. But one of my greatest passions is fashion, in fact, I’m shopping at least once a week, it relaxes me, and I enjoy myself. In a few words: all this “IS MY WORLD.” In 2018 I attended a Fashion Blogger course in an Academy of Milan, receiving a certificate with a very high grade, and from that time on, it gave a turning point to my life. It represents all that I want to do, working for social media and cooperate with companies such as clothing and jewelry shops, and finally with Coffarte. Today I am here to make myself known to everybody.

‘This show is dedicated to the memory of Judy Blame, a close friend and pioneer in the world of fashion, whose love of couture was an inspiration to us all.’

Kim Jones Past, present, couture. For the Dior men’s winter 2020-2021 collection, artistic director Kim Jones draws on the Dior archives and iconography to celebrate the house’s timeless elegance. A journey to the heart of haute couture and a tribute to Judy Blame, a pivotal figure and a symbol of creativity that always looks to

the future. The silhouettes explore values of excellence and authenticity, evoking fashion not just as a finished product but as a creative process. Clothes, shoes, and accessories sport engineered zips that enhance their construction, highlighting details and cut as an ode to Christian Dior's love of architecture. The Dior Oblique canvas is revisited in beaded embroideries, while the Dior logo is pierced with a safety pin — a nod to Judy Blame’s DIY-inspired style. House codes, like

reminiscences of haute couture, are embodied in the moiré effects of silk, embroideries, and the arabesque motifs and paisley patterns that make Dior's heritage so rich.

Opera gloves complete each look and buttons covered in fabric — like those on the iconic bar jacket — appear alongside a panorama of memories: shades of gray and blue, plays on volume, and pleats and draping that reference flou and tailoring techniques.

Accessories evoke the mid-20th century, a turning point in fashion history. Shoes have a classic allure, reflecting the exceptional leather craftsmanship that represents another aspect of Dior's heritage. The saddle is revisited in new, ever more fluid forms as the soft saddle; bags recall graphic briefcases and camera bags. Crafted in polished calfskin, they come in a discreet palette of black, camelvicuña and navy blue, and feature the signature

Dior oblique motif enhanced with beading or in a handmade tapestry version.

Drawing inspiration from the toile de jouy motif that decorated Christian Dior's first boutique — called “colifichets” — the now-signature motif has been joined by the “toile de Judy”, designed in collaboration with the trust Judy Blame foundation and based on the artist’s revolutionary work. Jewelry designed by Yoon Ahn features

reinterpretations of Judy Blame pieces, through metallic elements engraved and embossed with the Dior logo, and adorned with cannage or lily of the valley motifs. Berets by house milliner Stephen jones pay tribute to the Parisian culture and the pioneering buffalo movement of the 1980s. Rich in meaning and creative modernity, this dialogue between the legacies of Dior and Judy Blame affirms, more than ever, the timeless power of savoirfaire.

In our humble opinion, one of the greatest fashion films ever made was by The Philosoper King of Fashion, Karl Lagerfeld. His "Remember Now" starring Pascal Greggory and Elisa Sednaoui sums up his life philosophy of living for the now. It screened in La Jolla as part of our world first Karl Lagerfeld fashion film retrospective. Karl once said, "I don't want to be my own souvenir". Yes, Karl, we agree. We love you and miss you! All hail the greatest fashion icon of the 20th century!

"Can Fashion Empower Woman" Mona Shroff’s Findings

Fashion, for better or worse, has always been around in the lives of women.

Fashion, for better or worse, has always been around in the lives of women. Even if we don’t follow the trends carefully, our purchases are still influenced by what designers put in the stores. To a stylish woman, fashion is both a tool and a form of art, and the biggest reason she understands it so well is that she allows herself to enjoy it. She shapes it according to her own strong will and makes every garment work to empower her.

Always let your personality show through - Having a defined style means knowing exactly who you are and taking great pride in your own personality and your own body. It’s not just about looking pretty—it’s about being aware of your qualities, your interests, your moral values, and knowing that they make

you into a strong, unique individual.

Other people will notice and remember you by it.

Embrace comfort and practicality - The

Always be bold - If

whole industry is shifting to make room for practical fashion, and we see a lot of old styles that have made a comeback. The point is not to be afraid to pick things based on comfort and practicality because it doesn’t mean they won’t look stylish. In fact, the whole athleisure craze is still going strong because it provides us with that much-needed practicality without sacrificing any of the styles.

Find your signature Having a signature means being instantly recognized by certain things; it means being memorable and striking. Find something that you love, something that speaks your name and represents your spirit and wear it often.

you want to try something, then try it. You won’t believe the kind of things you can discover about yourself if you just try to be brave occasionally. Remember, fashion is there to serve you, to make you happy, and to help you represent yourself in whichever way you want.

Let your creativity flow! Wearing clothes that we like empowers us because it allows us to be creative and to invest in ourselves.

Don’t forget that fashion is there to be enjoyed, so embrace it and let it enrich your life. http://monashrof f j e w e l l e r y. c o m /

Mona Shroff Describes THE TIMELESS BEAUTY OF PEARLS"

P

earls are one of nature’s

most valuable gifts, recognized around the world as a symbol of wealth and perfection. It’s actually the oldest known gem – existing even before history was recorded. It’s said that early man most likely discovered the pearl while hunting for food on the seashore.

h t t p : / / m o n a s h r o f f j e w e l l e r y. c o m /

To give you some idea of how far back the pearl’s history stems, we know from ancient paintings that the Egyptians wore mother of pearl in jewelry more than 5000 years ago. Later, pearls were discovered in China, India, Persia, Europe, and the New World. Throughout history, right from its early existence to the present day, the natural pearl has been (and still is) treasured by the wealthy and elite alike. As well as being a status symbol, pearls have also been used as currency by natives in the South Seas. During the Middle Ages, in medieval Europe, it was made a law that pearls could only be worn by royalty and people of high nobility. Pearls

were laid into jewels and crowns for women and knights carried pearls into battle for luck. It’s not surprising that pearls were regarded so highly, given that they were treasures of the ocean and could only be found at the bottom of the seabed, in the shells of oysters. The way that natural pearls are made is pretty amazing, and some might say even a miracle of nature! The cultivation of freshwater pearls and saltwater pearls has led to these beautiful gems being readily available on the market – not just for the rich and wealthy. On the runway- Iconic French fashion house Chanel has long been associated with pearls. Founder Coco Chanel was famous for her

love of these iridescent spheres. ‘A woman needs ropes and ropes of pearls,’ she held. Current creative director Karl Lagerfeld has continued to embrace pearls during his tenure for his fashion shows. Over 100 years later, Mikimoto remains committed to innovation and excellence in the field and is one of the world’s leading pearl experts. Since its inception, Mikimoto has scoured the globe for the best and newest insights into the realms of jewelry and of pearls, ensuring that the pieces they present are perfect. ‘Only the best pearls in the world are destined to become Mikimoto gems. http://monashrof f j e w e l l e r y. c o m /

Prashant Goyal

Heritage India Fashions has been a global leader in Indian Ethnic Fashion. From wedding sarees and lehengas to contemporary Indowestern outfits, the store also has an exquisite collection of jewelry, traditional wedding accessories, handbags, and footwear. With over a million customers globally, designer Prashant Goyal has even greater visions for his company. After studying business management, in 2017, Prashant and his wife Ruchi opened Heritage India Fashions in Manhattan, New York. They began focusing specifically on Indian culture and heritage in his fashion, but incorporating western cuts and styles, creating unique formal designs that could be worn for corporate jobs and formal events alike. Prashant’s bridal and formal wear have intricated, handembroidered designs,

using threads made of the precious metal’s gold and silver, set with gemstones and Swarovski crystals. He has a keen eye for color, texture, has collected fabrics from the 18th century, the 1920s and 1930s, with a growing emphasis on fair trade and ecofriendly fabrics. In his travels through the world, especially when visiting smaller villages, Prashant would be inspired by the vibrant colors of the local culture, began to collect vintage and rare fabrics. All of these fabrics are kept in their office in Delhi, where all of their designs are handmade. Prashant has a team of eight artists that execute his visions before they are sent to a staff that sews each piece by hand. For the older, rarer fabrics, Prashant creates unique, one-of-a-kind designs. He uses these, along with silks and organic fabrics, to create designs that are a fusion of western influence and traditional India formal wear to

create beautiful, trendy clothes that appeal to his broad client base. His vision has proven to be successful; Prashant has been the headline designer for several fashion shows, and both his men and women’s formal apparel have published in multiple fashion magazines. Ruchi has taken the lead as the Creative Stylist of Heritage India Fashions and lead designer of their crochet fabrics and shares Prashant's vision of community support and a continued emphasis on fair trade and ecofriendly materials. An additional testament is their very loyal base of clients that have come to rely on his intrinsic, high-quality designs. Both Prashant and his wife Ruchi, who is the lead stylist for their clientele, both have an excellent eye for color and texture, curating an ensemble that enhances both the personality and the skin tone of each client.

Together they have styled an extensive list of Hollywood and Bollywood stars, the brilliantly colored apparel can be seen worn on television shows, such as Madam Secretary, House of Cards, and Quantico. Prashant additionally designed pieces for Disney productions, the film Eat Pray Love, which starred Julia Roberts, and has designed for several government officials, including an Anarkali gown for Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney. Heritage India Fashions has casual Indian wear, but his line also includes ornate lehengas, sarees, and anarkalis for women and formal sherwanis and kurtas men for weddings and Indian parties. In an era where fast fashion has changed the fashion industry, Prashant hasn’t been tempted to use cheaper materials or cut costs on the employee’s salaries. Instead, he plans to expand the company throughout the United States, maintaining high-quality designs unique to each store. Prashant is emphatic: “It’s not about

the cost, but the quality. I want each client to know that our designs will last them for 50 years.” Heritage India Fashions’ factory is in India, where Prashant stresses the importance of fair trade for his company, and taking care of their workers, especially in an environment where poor working conditions pervade the clothing industry. “Coming from the United States, it was hard to see disadvantaged women or kids without clothes. Many factories don’t care about the condition that the worker's families live in, as long as the workers show up to work. I don’t want to see kids on the streets, begging, or women who are abused, but don’t have the means to leave the situation.” Prashant and Ruchi had a vision to provide real, lasting support to the workers and their families. They set up a unique employment contract set up with the workers in his factory. A percentage of their income is to be set aside for school, clothing, and books for their children,

and another portion is to be set aside for the women who are the caretakers of the home. This system encourages the employees to have both security and stability that they can maintain on their own. “It’s a great movement that benefits the families and guarantees there is money set aside for providing for the women and children’s needs. We originally started supporting eight families. Now we support over 100 families in India, and we hope to increase that number,” Prashant states. “Fifteen years later, some of their children have grown up and want to be engineers and doctors because they can see the possibilities are there for them, too. It is necessary to take care of the people that work for you.” Heritage India Fashions is located in Manhattan, New York, on 131 Lexington Ave. Website: https://heritageindiafash ions.com / Email: info@Heritageindiafashi ons.com Author -Nicole Bryan King

Luissa Burton, known as “The Official Green Queen” and founder of the Boost The World foundation,

Rosanne Zalingen have joined forces on a global project. Luissa and Rosanne met during a trip to India in 2019. They were invited along with seven other social conscious leaders to take part in a transformation trip. This trip involved visiting the Earth Saviours Foundation in Delhi, Mother Miracle School in Rishikesh, and also a visit to the Dalai Lama’s residence in Dharamshala for a private meeting with His Holiness. During the trip, Luissa and Rosanne realized they had shared interests. Rosanne is passionate about the education of youth and nature and Luissa is passionate about ecological preservation and human health.

Rosanne believes that young people are the most essential platform for communicating our mission. “At present, we see that education is primarily performanceorientated. We inspire the youth to make their own dreams come true. We want to make the youth aware that all strength is already within them, and they can really make a difference. We want them to treat themselves, others and nature with respect. We teach them to dare to make their own choices and thus become more conscious in life. We bring humanity and nature together to Boost The World”. Luissa has the vision to regenerate the earth using a technique called permaculture. Her goal is to create permaculture schools around the world to help people to grow their own food and live a regenerative and sustainable lifestyle.

Permaculture can take dry, arid and desert land and turn it into thriving, abundant land using the present nature. She wants to start the project in places that need it most notably in Africa, where they are affected by drought. The urgent need for this will only worsen with global warming. Luissa and Rosanne will combine this form of schooling and education with an attached permaculture garden. The excerpt is taken from the Desert Bloom Farm crowdfunding project, “34% of our planets’ land surface is desert or arid land. That percentage is growing due to unsustainable farming practices. Over 2 billion people live in these lands, most without the means, knowledge and skills to deal with the growing desertification and the related localized climate changes.”

We CAN reverse desertification and build resilient and long-term ecosystems. We CAN provide the world with nutritious, healthy, organic food. We CAN regenerate land on earth. We CAN turn deserts into abundance. We CAN teach others to do the same so that they can live sustainability now and far into the future. We CAN feed ourselves and protect the planet at the same

time. We CAN bring this to those most in need. We CAN educate the youth to be empowered as well as conscious of the environment. We CAN create a generation of “role models,” visionaries, and changemakers. We CAN put our egos aside and work as a community for a better world for all. We CAN transform 1111 villages. “Those who believe they can change the world are

the ones who will”……. Together we CAN Boost The World. Photo credits: Photo1: Luissa Burton and Rosanne Zalingen with the Dalai Lama at his residence. Photo3: Photos of Rosanne Van Zanlingen

One day, back in 1998, I was in Seattle shopping at Home Depot. As I wander through the flooring department, this piece of flooring tile caught my eye. This tile would make a wonderful support for an appropriate subject oil painting. The tile cost $1.00. Now all I needed was to come up with the appropriate subject. I’d never painted a carousel horse before, so why not try one on this piece of tile. I went to the library and looked up the subject in order to get the flavor of the style. After many drawings, I came up with this rendition. It was a pleasure to use oil paints on such a super slick surface. The paint flow was the best. Ed Morales Email: deselarom@olypen.com

This pretty person I saw only once many years ago. I mentioned that I would like to paint her portrait and she said sure. I took a few reference photos, found out that her name was Rachel. Never saw her again. Ed Morales Email deselarom@olypen.com

I painted these two Cross Dancers in 2018. The pleasure for me in this painting was the composition and the juxtaposition of color to create an interesting effect. Ed Morales

Max Vogue has been a big fan and connoisseur of JPG, and in this special episode, he is taking us on a private tour to some of the rarest and most iconic pieces he has collected since 1988. JPG began his work with Pierre Cardin in 1970, but he also gave way to other couturiers like Martin Margiela who worked with him until 1989. Gaultier also turned music stars into fashion legends like Madonna.
