WOW, what incredible talent he has. We were so excited when Alan agreed to do an interview for Red Silk Carpet. Let's get to know the man behind this big Voice! by Shelley Pekala

ow old were you when you showed

an interest in singing?

Since the age of 10, I have always had music around me and performed with my mother's side of the family, who are all artists in martial arts and Chinese folk music. At the age of 14, I started learning how to sing by studying and listening to many artists and all sorts of bands on tv and radio. In school, I was regularly bullied, and if I ever fought back, it would make the situation even worse. Forbidden by my uncles to use martial arts on others no matter what, I found the only way to fight back was to sing and entertain. I then entered the annual talent contest, which all secondary schools in the local district compete. After performing 'Ride it' by Jay Sean, 'Thong Song' by Sisqo, and 'End Of The Road' by Boyz II Men, I won 1st prize of the contest, and a few weeks later, the bullying in my school eventually stopped, and I was able to live in peace. What genre of music do you prefer to listen too? What style is your favorite to sing?

I continuously listen to Rock, Reggae, Death Metal, Jazz, Chinese Classical, Bangra, African, and Dance. I love singing Rock, Reggae, and Contemporary Jazz. Could you share with us how your journey began on The Voice UK?

I was in my music theory class at the university I attend (ACM) Academy of Contemporary Music.

The Voice UK came to audition vocalist on site. My tutor Scott Mc Gill dared me to go for the audition in front of the whole class for almost two hours. I did not want to do it because I thought it would be a waste of time.

However, he insisted that I had nothing to lose, so I agreed to go. When I went upstairs to the demo theatre, the Voice representative stated that any auditions would have needed to apply 3 weeks ago on their application online.

Then I told her what my tutor was doing in class, she loved the story and stated if someone does not turn up for their audition, I could take their spot and I got in.

audition and two weeks waiting, I got through to the 1st callback. Then 2nd and 3rd callbacks. After mu ch traveling around

London for interviews and further auditions, I was selected from

I was 1 of 100 who got through to the Blinds, winning the Battle rounds, and reaching the Knockouts quarterfinals.

What has been the ultimate experience so far while being on the voice?

How has the COVID pandemic changed your singing career?

Covid-19 has been a challenging time for the whole world, It may affect my music career in the near future with further delays, but it will not stop me from my progression. As long as I am willing to work, my family and I will survive.

I have just graduated from (ACM) university this year. My career is delayed, but all will happen in good time. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

How many instruments do you play?

Not counting my voice, two instruments. I am currently learning the bass guitar and have played the Erhu (Chinese Violin) for more than 20 years.

Five years ago in Paris I created a brand by dressing models, singers, and later performers during concerts and various events like Miss Tahiti's elections then Miss Toulon. Specializing in perfumery at the start, some perfume creators who collaborated with Dolce & Gabbana, and Paco Rabanne, trusted me and created perfumes for PG Spirit. The brand gradually extended to clothing,

with some collaboration with a great designer Hana Han Tran, Mrs. Vietnam World. The concept of the PG Spirit is based around the desire to sublimate women. I admire the versatility, strength, and beauty of women. Mothers, wives, workers, I love their ability to multitask. But I also want, through my clothes, to give them confidence. For my creation, I draw a lot from the black rose, the baccarat rose considers rare and precious like women. Today several wonderful women trust me to dress them Mrs. AmĂŠrica, Cassandra Wallace Banon, Miss Luxembourg Melanie Heynsbroek, Miss Georgia Continental Europe Julia Sokolowski, French actresses. They love the quality and the signature of pgspirit Paris.

Our collaborator, Hana Han Tran Mrs. Vietnam world 2017, Graduated with a master's degree in fashion design at the Marrangoni Institute in Milan, creating beautiful dresses.

Whether cocktail dresses, evening dresses, or for Miss contests. She always finds the time, patience, and kindness to be as close as possible to her client and to meet all of her requests. She takes part in many events between Seattle, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, where she presents her creations and her new collections.

She also participates in numerous charitable works to help orphan children to be able to have access to health.

Rebecca had never spent much time in front of a camera, but the allure to test her physical and mental limits appealed to her competitive nature. She also loves working out, so the physical aspect of the competition came naturally to her.

The Miss Multiverse Australia Journey Spending so much time with the other contestants and the different personality types really prompted Rebecca to self-reflect and say that the experience taught her so much about herself. On the whole, she got along with all the contestants however bonded well with Lucinda and Brooke.

Rebecca recounts clicks formed early in the competition, and some of the girls weren't very open to getting to know the girls outside of their circles. Still, she attributes this to the different personality types and ages of the contestants. As part of the competition, the girls had to do their own photoshoots and get sponsors, two things that she admits being inexperienced at, and the thought of approaching brands was quite daunting. But she says even she surprised herself with how well she pulled the tasks off. She claims the most challenging part of the competition was the team activity where she had to work with a fellow contestant to create a business. However, she really enjoyed the fitness challenges and prepping for the photoshoots.

Following her success, this active mum of two boys became a Ms. Fitness Australia Bikini pro and continues to do photo-shoots while managing a restaurant in Ascot. Her Road to Miss Multiverse Australia Serena recalls the excitement when she first heard about the competition and immediately felt her calling to apply. With her dreams of being in front of the camera, Serena put Miss Multiverse Australia on her wish list, as a steppingstone into the world of acting and

modeling. Her prayers were answered when she made the top 10 cuts, although she admits to having her doubts that she wasn't what the judges were looking for. With a fitness background, Serena stuck to a strict eating plan and training regime in preparation to ensure that she would perform at her peak. In the lead up to the competition, Serena embarked on a campaign trail of sorts to promote herself, in which she organized and attended events and photo-shoots to boost her image and public profile. The road to Miss Multiverse Australia Ashley joined the competition to challenge herself and test her limits. She admits that wearing heels all day â&#x20AC;&#x201C; a requirement of Miss Multiverse Australia â&#x20AC;&#x201C; has undoubtedly tested her pain threshold limits. But she pushed through and wore those pumps like a boss. To prepare for Miss Multiverse Australia, Ashley worked with her sponsors to organize a fundraiser as part of her prechallenge. Thanks to her healthy lifestyle and natural drive-in business, Ashley came into the competition well prepared with a hunger to hit the ground running. The Miss Multiverse Australia journey Building new friendships was the most enjoyable part of the competition for Ashley. She recounts that although it wasn't all roses between her and fellow contestants, she made some beautiful relationships and, in particular, found a friend and ally in Serena who she met during the preliminary rounds and maintained that friendship during the competition. She says that being surrounded by strong and equally driven women in a pressured environment was especially character building and something that she doesn't get the opportunity to experience every day. M E E TA D U T TA A Multi-faceted Per sonality by Saif Rahman Sozib Meeta Dutta, an advocate by profession practicing principally at the Gauhati High Court at Guwahati, Assam, India, is a social activist by a mission and an actor by passion. Meeta is also associated with Cadence Theatre Mumbai, India, and is a well-known face in various fields. Be it due to 'Lockdown' or 'Unlock' phases, or especially about her dismay at the recent tragic incidents in Bollywood or other areas. Many people have shockingly succumbed to the pressures of the present times and collapsed under the sheer discrimination perpetrated upon them by a few insensitive and intolerant sections of our society. She has made her debut as a director, scriptwriter, and actor with her own

short films. Namely 'Green Tree' and 'Black Coat,' which dealt with a couple of burning and contemporary issues. These endeavors have won her the Best Motivational Films at the recently and virtually held LOSFFA Awards 2020 on 20th June 2020, organized by Bhardwaj Films Production India. The said awards conferred upon her were in recognition of the appropriateness of the subjects brought by her into both the short films and the simplicity with which they were executedâ&#x20AC;&#x201D;delivering direct messages of absolute importance backed up by thoroughly natural performances enacted by her in them. The program was presented live from the Facebook page of Bhardwaj Films Production India. Artists from all over India had participated in the said short film festival. the common man's lives due to the global pandemic lockdown. However, different from the current subjects, but their content was so arresting that they were duly appreciated. Some children's films also were so heart-touching and that they were chosen as well. A total of forty films were shortlisted, out of which twenty-eight got their due recognition and were thereby befittingly honored in various categories. The jury had luminaries, like Writer-Director Shri Dilip Shukla, who was the Script Writer of super-hits films like 'Mohra,' 'Andaz Apna Apna' etc., Mrs. Nandita Puri W/o Late Actor Om Puri and the Chairman of Jharkhand International Film Festival Shri Rishi Prakash Mishra, Shri Deepak Dua, etc. from the Bollywood Film Industry.

In an exclusive interview with Saif Rehman Sozib, Meeta Dutta graciously agreed to divulge some tasty scoops about 'Black Coat' and 'Green Tree,' disclosing inside details about how she crafted them. All this happened during the lockdown period at her native city of Guwahati when she came across a post on Facebook mentioning that the LOSSFA Awards online short film festival was going to take place. She said, "Some ideas came to me, and thereupon I tried my best to give shape to them in the form of a script. The most challenging part here was that I had to draft meaningful scripts for the two shorts, which had to be enacted between 1 to 5 minutes, each following the guidelines laid down by

the organizer. Moreover, these had to be solo acts due to lockdown at my city; I couldn't have inducted co-actors into them. I conveyed this to my husband, who encouraged me to no end, and we ended up shooting the short films on our camera. I was really excited to play the part of the films' writer, director, and actor but was slightly apprehensive too, this being my first attempt at such an effort". Speaking about Meeta's character and looks in both these films. She is a fashionista too, and she loves to experiment a lot with her looks on camera, she said, "I kept my performance very simple in both the films. The topics of both the films were such that there was not much scope for innovation, and the script didn't permit that either, very short films as they were.

One film deals with most lawyers due to the lockdown, and the other dealt with the threat to our environment due to deforestation and how we should go all out for afforestation. Both the topics are extremely close to my heart". When she was asked about her future plans and whether she had plans to work in the Bollywood film industry, she spoke, "Given a chance, I would love to foray into suitable Bollywood openings! But the roles, whenever offered, have to be something that I am comfortable doing. Coming from a family that was once connected with the film industry in a big way, I would love very much to be a part of that industry and view it as a resurrection of sorts !"

Studying, I am excited that I am in the final stage of studies which will give me even more time in my modeling career, traveling, the tourism bit, sensitization of young people, marketing, and selling of cultural items gets me moving all over the country. What is a typical work week like?

My very active days are Monday to Friday (8am5pm) with empowering young girls on modeling opportunities and supervising the various women groups who make the cultural commodities for example beads and much more.

How did you get started?

I had always been passionate about modeling right from childhood but never had enough time and right platforms to explore my passions until my high school vacation in 2016.

This gave me time to pursue what I always wanted. So I started by contesting for Miss Tourism Karamoja, where I emerged the best and went on for National competitions where I attained the second runner up position for Miss Tourism Uganda. It’s from this time when everything started unfolding for me in the modeling and tourism industry. What do you like about what you do?

What I do gives me a platform to be able to help vulnerable people which is in line with my

passion. Exposure through traveling and meeting new people-skill development. What do you dislike? There is a lot of judgment and miss understanding from our societies. Getting exposed to the wrong agencies that don’t value what you value. How do you make money, or how are you compensated?

Most of the work I do is voluntary, which doesn’t pay. However, I do make some money from selling my crafts. I am privileged to still be receiving financial support from my parents. Once in a while, I get transport refunds and a small allowance from the development and motivational activities that I participate in. What skills are needed to

Balancing all my activities. What is most rewarding?

I have very little time for myself since I have so many things I have to accomplish, so usually have a Sunday off which I dedicate to God, and my quiet times.

Nothing other than encouraging them that to never be afraid to follow their passion and also being able to help a vulnerable person in society.

What is the most common misconception people have about what you do?

Sexual objectification of female models by society, and some media houses, for example, there are stereotypes like models don’t have values, can’t have families, etc.

How do you feel being announced the highest voter?

I feel so inspired and motivated to keep pressing on this career. I am very thankful to God and everyone who supported me through this.
